While I came to Whitefish to go to Glacier National Park to detox and reset, this little lodge provided all the respite and comfort I needed away from the traveling and tourism. Close to GNP and all the hiking one could hope for, amenities of a small town, and quaint grounds on the river, the lodge is as inviting as a family-run bed and breakfast. With the charm of a chalet on the inside, this place has everything you need for and very reasonable rates! I highly recommend!
We stayed 2 nights while we visited Whitefish and Glacier Natl Park. Small hotel on a river. The room had windows on 2 sides with one overlooking the river. Each mornings we saw a beaver at work. Breakfast was included which was hot and fresh quiche, juice, coffee and bagel as well as fruit. Coffee all day was available. Room was spacious with western decor. All couples from 20’s to 70’s. Close to town, walk to drug store and supermarket if needed.
The staff here are so awesome! Mark, the owner, is very personable & kind, too. They make breakfast for you every morning & you can choose what you want, but you're wrong if you don't choose their egg casserole and/or waffles. The rooms are so cozy & the temperature is very adjustable. A lovely little river runs by the inn, & there are always ducks to watch in it. We felt comfortable asking if we needed anything, but we also never felt like we were staying at a hotel. This place feels like a home away from home.
Here's the thing - if you're going to stay in Whitefish, and you've chosen someplace else, we can't understand why. The hosts are so friendly, including "Beckett". The breakfast is incredible, and yes, I'd have to say the waffles are the best in Montana. We stayed in the best room there, but we won't tell you which one because we want it next time. It was so comfortable, that we felt like we were staying in a friend's house. Private balcony overlooking Whitefish River and a view of the Whitefish Mountain. Once the lifts shut down, we got to watch the groomers get the mountain ready for the next morning. We even had a fireplace in our room. Thanks, Folks!
Made a reservation per their website for 1 night for summer of 2022. I received a confirmation email and proceeded to book flights that allowed for a 1 night stay. FOUR HOURS later I received a cancellation notice plus an email saying they weren't accepting 1 night reservations. I even called to see what was going on - just got a "sorry". Not a good way to conduct a business!
Very Good. Room was clean, the location is close to downtown and also close to a bus stop for the infamous Snow Bus. I was there for a week of skiing and did not need a car. The hot breakfasts every morning (no charge) really knock it out of the park.
This lodging is like a cross between a hotel and a Bed & Breakfast. There are many things to recommend it. The best thing is their breakfast. The waffles are wonderful and we ate them four days out of seven. They also prepare a casserole made with eggs, vegetables, and sometimes sausage. The hosts are quite friendly and helpful. They call their guests by name. The rooms are spacious and the views are impressive. Several days we saw whitetail deer grazing in nearby fields and the Inn is in view of the Whitefish ski slopes. Even when skiing is not in season, the views from the top of the ski lift are great. You can see mountains 50 miles away or more. A few items at the Duck Inn are less than first rate. The rooms do not have refrigerators, hot plates, or telephones. We found the mattress to be lumpy. The prices are a bit on the high side, but that is to be expected given the nearness of the ski slopes and Glacier National Park.…
Wow, this place is a find! It is located only a few blocks from downtown Whitefish. It is so cute and comfy and reasonably priced. The rooms have beautiful electric fireplaces and many of them have views of the river. The daily breakfast is warm food with lots of fruit and many options. Always coffee and tea in the lobby. The staff is so helpful and accommodating. I hope I get to come back. Thank you, Mark
Good Morning, Whitefish! Having a piping hot cup of coffee prepared by our fantastic hosts here The Duck Inn Lodge in Whitefish, MT. It's a refreshing 19° outside, the sun is beginning to spark behind the hills, and Tyler, one of the owners, is calmly fixing a beautiful continental breakfast for all of us staying here at the lodge! Most reviews likely come at the tail end of a trip, where people rant about the good or rail about the bad, motivated either by happy goodbyes or anger at some perceived traveling-injustice. Well, for me, I am having a WONDERFUL time, and we are just now halfway through our stay here! The lodge itself is modern enough to feel secure and well-built, whilst also being made sturdily in the fashion of a frontier lodge. If you've ever watched a western and can remember that canonical feeling of the hero walking up the staircase at the hotel and wondered "I wonder how I'd feel, walking past the busts of local animals, and hearing the faint creak of the wood joinery," come stay at the Duck. If you love cold outer temperatures, kept at bay by wonderful down comforters, a fireplace in your room, a hot shower at your command and warm conversations with other guests downstairs in the living-room area (with another amazing fireplace and hot coffee!!!), come stay at the Duck!!! Honestly, my Girlfriend and I came up here to visit Whitefish to find a place to move to, and I seriously have to force myself to leave the happiness we have found here at the Duck Inn, not because of Whitefish itself, which is a dream come true to anyone who has ever seen "A River Runs Through It" and wanted to touch that sort of reality, but because this lodge is SO DANGED COZY! Thank you So Much, Tyler and all awesome people at The Duck Inn Lodge, you all alone have practically sold Whitefish to me, right from the get-go! #duckinnwf #explorewhitefish…
Loved our 3-night stay at the Duck Inn Lodge. Cozy , with a very welcoming and helpful staff. Especially liked our river view room with a small balcony. We watched deer, beavers, lots of ducks, and a beautiful sunset from there. A walk or a short drive to Whitefish, with lots of good restaurants. About a 35 minute drive to Glacier NP. The lodge is well-known for its yummy breakfasts, different egg casserole and waffle daily, with lots of sides to pick and choose. Would definitely recommend to all.
