This place feels dated - especially in the halls and common areas (the rooms look like they've been modernized much more than the common areas). In anywhere else in the US this hotel would be about half the price of what it costs in West Yellowstone so it is a bit hard to swallow (although understandable). My main issues were (1) when grabbing a fresh towel off the rack in our bathroom I found a very long hair folded up inside it that was definitely not mine and (2) there are NO cups or glasses anywhere in the room. Everything is kept in the lobby. This was unfortunate to learn when I was already in my pajamas and dying for a glass of water at midnight! That said, our room was a good size and I liked that there were two sinks - one inside the bathroom and one in the main area. It made it easy for two people to get ready at the same time. I also appreciated that our room had a mini-fridge, as we usually ordered a large meal at dinner and saved our leftovers to take into the park as lunch the next day. I also liked that breakfast was included. It wasn't anything special but it was nice to have something. Lastly, the location was really good. Very close to many restaurants as well as the park entrance.

Close to to the Yellowstone Park Entrance this is a good place to stay for the money. There are baskets with the amenities located on the first floor. You can choose soap, shampoo, lotion, etc. I liked this because I felt there would not be as much waste of the products. There is a coffee maker in the room. There is laundry which is in the basement. This was helpful as we were able to get some items freshened up for the next day. There is a pool and hot tub on site. We did not use the pool but we used the hot tub. The hot tub had a pushpin in the timer to keep the timer from running out and the jets from stopping. Obviously this needs to be fixed but the hot tub was great. Breakfast included pastry, eggs (2 in a package), yogurt, fruit, cereal, muffins and oatmeal. Barbara took great care to ensure that everything remained stocked and cleaned. I would stay here again.

The rooms were ok, not very warm. The service at the front desk was very kind and professional. The really down hill is the cafeteria. For dinner we arrived at 6:15pm and waited in line (no place for children or elderly to sit) and we were beginning to have an untasteful and non-tasting food at 8:15pm. The name of the cafeteria is Slow Food, but really? For breakfast there was frozen milk, so no milk for cereal for the kids, no cinammon rolls as announced in the choices, and also understaff. I have to say that the people working at the cafeteria are nice but the system is completely inefficient. Plus, if you are traveling with kids, there is no playground in the Lodge, so there is not much option either for entertainment while the long wait in-line. The closest next option for food is about forty minutes away and it does not take reservations, so there is not much to do than wait and try not be hungry.

It's summer time in Yellowstone. The peak season. Everything is overpriced. So, considering that, it's not a bad place to stay, if you do get a fair deal. It's a motel. Same things you expect from most motel chains...continental breakfast, small indoor pool, etc. The room is fair in size but it's old,,,furnitures, carpet, sinks, bathtub, etc. It was little smelly in our room. My wife asked me to leave the window open while AC was running because of the odor( I think it was like old-carpet-smell). It is very close to the entrance to Yellowstone Park, though. Maybe even less than 5 minutes of ride to the Park Gate. And, since it's right within the West Yellowstone town, it's very close to all the shops and restaurants. Staff at the reception desk could use take some Continuing Education courses on Friendliness, though. No smiles at all and very robotic responses upon questions. maybe not getting paid enough. Over all, it was okay place to stay. Had it now situated so close to National Park entrance and not during the peak season, Would I stay here with family? Absolutely not ! But, its August in Yellowstone National Park.
