Pros: • Quiet. • Clean, spacious room. • Delicious breakfast choices. • Short drive to West Yellowstone and park gate. • Competitive pricing. • Personalized attention from the host. Cons: • Not really a con, but internet speed was just okay. I did an extensive search for accommodations in the West Yellowstone area prior to my visit and kept circling back to the West Yellowstone Bed and Breakfast. I am SO glad I opted to stay here! It was peaceful, clean, comfortable, and felt very safe for a solo traveler. It also made a perfect base for exploring the area. WYBB is located just a few miles east of West Yellowstone, making for a quick and easy drive into town or to Yellowstone National Park. It is located right off Highway 20; however, traffic noise is minimal and did not bother me at all during my time there. Each of the three guest rooms has a private entrance and bath, along with a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker with choices of coffee and tea. Log furniture has been handcrafted by Scott (one of the owners). The garden area offers a nice place to relax under the pine trees (weather permitting!). I stayed in the spacious upper level Queen Room with Garden View. This room has a very comfortable queen-sized bed as well as a fold-out futon to accommodate additional guests. The bathroom is roomy with a modern tiled shower. Storage for luggage and clothes was just right. Note: This room is accessible only by outside stairs, so it probably is not the best choice for someone with mobility issues. Breakfast is served from 7:00 am – 9:00 am. Guests may choose their breakfast time and select options from a short (but yummy!) menu. The variety of food choices should appeal to most guests. Breakfast can be brought to the room, or guests can dine in a lovely standalone breakfast solarium. I tried a couple of different items and found everything to be very good, with ample portions to sustain morning hikes. I did not get to meet Scott, but Deborah was an absolutely gracious, kind, and accommodating hostess. She offered great recommendations for dining in town, and was able to loan me bear spray and a small pair of binoculars for my time in the park. I particularly appreciated the tour guides and books in the room since they helped me fine-tune my daily plans. WYBB has free wi-fi, which to be honest can run a little slow at times, but then I was here to get away from things, not for ultra-high speed internet! There is also no television, but again, that’s not what I came for, so I didn’t miss it a bit. Hotels everywhere tend to be noisy and busy these days, even in the shoulder season. West Yellowstone Bed and Breakfast was a great choice for quiet, private, and safe lodging. The nightly rate was competitive with other area hotels and B&Bs, and well worth the money to have a stress-free, pleasant, and memorable stay. I look forward to going back! Tips: • Do a little research ahead of time on the many dining options available for lunch and dinner in West Yellowstone. Then ask the WYBB hosts for their opinions, as some online information for local eateries seems to be outdated. • It’s the Rocky Mountains. Pack for the possibility of all seasons in one day. Wear comfortable and sturdy footwear, even if you don’t think you’ll be doing much hiking. • Water and sunscreen are must-haves at this elevation! • Recommended: Visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. Take time for a guided tour, watch the outdoor movies (weather permitting), and really read the information presented. It is a terrific educational experience for all ages.…
