I stayed in West Yellowstone for one evening, really felt the area was touristy and preferred Gardiner where I was the night before, but was making my way south to Jackson Hole. This was a last minute find on Hotels.com, it was close enough to major restaurants without being in the middle of the commotion. It had a lovely lobby area with fireplace, with unlimited coffee and water bottle reflls, which was warm and inviting. Also at breakfast baked items were available at cost as well as specialty coffees. The check in was easy, I was placed in a motel room on the second floor, which was fine. The room was clean and comfortable. Came with fridge and microwave which. The parking was a little cramped, I had to do a few 3 point turns to get out of my spot, but I felt safe as it was off street, and could park close to my door. Was also well lit. I did drive to dinner at Wild West as opposed to walk due to it being cold, also the area seemed like you could easily go down a dark street and get lost after dark. The town seemed a little run down and felt much more commercial than I'd hoped, but I am comparing it to Gardiner where I frequently ran into Elk and deer en route to supper or breakfast, and had breathtaking views, so I it's not a dig on the hotel, just the area. If you want to be near West Yellowstone and the Geyser basin this is a great choice.

Room Tip: The cabins looked nice but they were more expensive than the motel rooms.

We spent 2 nights here while we explored the southwest side of Yellowstone. Our trip was during the COVID adventures so lots the lodges in the park were closed so we had to book everything outside the park. First of all, West Yellowstone is small and not super nice. But the access the access to the west gates is great. Because that is the busiest side of the park, I’m surprised that it doesn’t have a more tourist-driven feel to it.

The Moose Creek Inn may have been renovated recently. The office and the rooms were very modern and clean. The staff was super friendly and professional. The room was large and updated. The beds were comfortable (very important). We were put in a downstairs room overlooking the courtyard parking lot. I would recommend downstairs because then you can sit outside at the various tables that are in the courtyard.

A coffee bar with complimentary coffee is in the lobby area. There is also fancy coffees, teas, smoothies, and a couple breakfast items available for purchase for reasonable prices (i.e., smallish bacon, egg, and cheese bagel for $3). We would eat breakfast outside at a picnic table before heading out.

If ever in West Yellowstone again, I would most likely stay here again!

We recently chose to stay here because we wanted a private spot near Yellowstone and this was a perfect fit. Less than 10 minutes to the gates of the park but near restaurants and shops. It also had very comfy beds and just the right amount of space for our family of 3, with chairs in the front and pretty hanging flower baskets. Check-in was simple and we had minimal interaction with anyone else, which was exactly what we wanted. The cabins were a little pricey but we agreed they were worth the cost and our stay here was delightful. One morning a beautiful fox even strolled right by our door!

After a long day in Yellowstone, we loved the location of the Inn. Very short two block walk to restaurants and shops. We stayed in a King Room #214. It is very roomy with a large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Complimentary coffee was good as was a latte and breakfast burrito at reasonable prices. The location is perfect for early morning access to the park.

The bed was very comfortable. Has good location about 5 minute from the Yellowstone entrance. The staff was very friendly. Too pricey for a very small room. Doesn’t have any breakfast only coffee. I think that other hotels on the area are small and pricey but for the price $225 at least offer a breakfast.

My partner and I stayed in one of the cabins during the COVID-19 pandemic. The cabin was incredibly clean. The check in and check out process was efficient (lobby was open 24/7) and felt safe. The two men working the front desk were friendly and answered all of our questions. The location was great. We walked to get take-out each night and ate outside at the tables and chairs provided outside the cabins. The west entrance to the park is only about a 5-10 minute drive.

Not impressed. We stayed at another motel down the road and it was less expensive and had no issues. This motel was another story...shower so small you couldn't bend over to wash your legs, no shower head (just a mist coming out of a tube), the air-condition unit was so incredibly loud it caused us loss of sleep. The mattress was sunken in and needs to be replaced desperately. Show some love to the room just at the top of the stairs by the office. It needs it! No Netflix access. Housekeeping was about a 8/10 (quite a few stray hairs laying around)

While the rooms are smaller than some and the shower is snug if you're a big guy like me, my wife and I were here in July and thoroughly enjoyed our room. The bed was very comfortable and the room as a whole was not "cookie cutter" modern. The wood furnishings were perfect for our Yellowstone Park experience. The only reason it is not a 5 star was the size of the shower. Costs in West Yellowstone are what they are but the service staff where very knowledgeable about the area, the room was immaculately clean, and for my wife and I, it was a great place to stay that was off the main drag outside the entrance to the park. It was an easy two blocks to restaurants. The gentleman at the desk also gave us the name of a great meat market for bison and elk in Gardner so it was a win win

This was my mom’s favorite. The two-bed rooms actually have separated bedrooms, each with a queen, and share a bathroom, which was so nice. So cute. We always love the log look. Plus the provided soaps smell amazing!

I've never cared enough to write a review but the customer service here at this place was so god awful I had to. Let me spare you the long story and just say, be VERY careful and be VERY certain you want to stay here before you do cuz their stingy managers couldn't give a rats you know what about you and don't have a problem telling you TOO BAD about any of your complaints. They only care bout your money. Do yourself a favor and find an Air BnB and pass on this dump.

does anyone know of any yellowstone tours pick up there?
Answer from BluRavdriver

Not sure if shuttles pick up right at Moose Creek Inn, but West Yellowstone is a very small town and it is only about 2 blocks to either of the two "main drags" (Rt. 20 and Rt. 287) so connecting with a tour shouldn't be a problem unless someone has mobility issues.

We have made several trips to Yellowstone and always stay in West Yellowstone. It is much more relaxing to stay in one place and West Yellowstone is so small, there is no point in moving around. If you are staying a couple days, plan on doing either the upper or lower loop road one day and the other the next. There are a couple tourist attractions on West Yellowstone that we like, including the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center and the IMAX theater. The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center allows you to come two days for one fee. There is also a small museum - all within walking distance.
