Husband and I enjoyed four nights in an Explorer Cabin. Privacy was nice, but don’t expect seclusion; cabins are close to others. Location for park entrance was perfect! Absolutely loved how walkable and fun West Yellowstone is. One suggestion for management would be to add a laundry building for cabin use. It was a nice perk to be able to use the hotel’s, but it’s a decent walk to and from with laundry. Stay was great and would highly recommend!

Hotel's Favorite
Our family was doing a 3 day Yellowstone trip before moving on to our next destination. Selected these cabins to provide flexibility for meals, hanging out, etc. Overall, we’re pleased with the cabin—clean, modern, nice amenities (coffee, water, books, s’mores kits all great). We also loved the nearby fire pits and outdoor decks on the cabins. Overall, we’d recommend to others….but The facility has some definite service challenges. First, When we checked in, there was a line out the door and one poor employee trying to meet everyone’s needs. Courtney did it with as much speed, efficiency and hospitality as I’ve seen at a front desk (she should really be commended)—but she was all alone—all afternoon and evening. Second, housekeeping was supposed to come (we requested) and didn’t. Ok—tried again the next day. The front desk person (not Courtney) literally made me describe each task for housekeeping—I said”I’d like them to clean the bathroom” but apparently I needed to say things like “replace used towels, empty trash, etc” And most of the things weren’t done, regardless—so they took dirty towels, but left us with none. Didn’t empty the waste baskets but made the bed. Not deal-breakers, and all the workers tried to make things right, but Management probably needs to make some needed tweaks to training and staffing.

These adorable little cabins are exactly what we were looking for. Cute, comfortable and with thoughtful extra perks like s’mores kits and extra towels. Easy walking distance to everything in town and helpful front desk staff. The only two things I would have changed… 1. I would have stayed longer and plan to come back to do so. 2. Several of the cabins were stand alone, but the one I was in was sort of a connected unit so we shared a wall with someone else. Unfortunately, those folks were loud laughers and had even louder sex. So the noise disturbance was rude neighbors but not the fault of the location. I would be certain next time to ask for a stand alone cabin.

Mess of a stay! We booked in advance at a rate of $545 but when we arrived - 'cabin' rates were as low as $300 per night. We spoke to the front desk clerk and were told they would adjust. THEY HAVE NOT. I'm on my fifth call to the management (Craig & Cinden) without return calls. The front desk staff recognizes my voice. I'm ready to refute the charge on my credit card instead. The direct number for the location is always uber busy - which is an indication they have the phone off the hook. Upon arrival, we attempted to connect to WiFi - and it wasn't working. They have a direct line on the room phones for WiFi assistance. The individual that answered indicated they don't provide support for the Explorer Cabins any longer. We anticipated a cabin based on the description - but no, we shared a wall with a family that had littles, and unfortunately they had trouble sleeping, so as a result, so did we. The thin walls didn't allow any sleep for anyone. The pictures of the cabin online also show a fireplace inside the unit, however, it's misleading and inaccurate. For a location with a kitchenette, you would think there would be a table, or at a minimum chairs. Nope! One arm chair, and TV Trays to fold out and eat off. The bathroom door squeaked and didn't open far enough for a wheelchair, and there were no grab bars in the bathroom, or shower for safety. Thankfully Yellowstone didn't disappoint, but Explorer Cabins barely deserve the one star provided. My recommendation would be to avoid this location for multiple reasons including those listed above.

Loved the location. We were .5 miles from park entrance. Good morning breakfast and hot coffee was waiting for us. The lodge was comfortable, clean and the kitchenette was a big plus! we will definitely return.

We spent close to 7000 for a week stay here and have been asking for DAYS for housekeeping and for the trash to be emptied. We asked yesterday again and this morning stating we would be gone ALL day and to PLEASE do a full service and came home to the following: no one emptied the trash, the linens weren’t changed (the bed was made with dirty linens), personal items THROWN on the floor, dirty towels left in the bathroom, clean towels were there BUT left in a plastic bag on the bathroom counter (??). I would get it if we were here for a night but we have been here since SUNDAY and it’s Friday now. The front desk “clerk” also told me there is NO supervisor on for the whole weekend saying “they don’t work on weekends”. For close to 1000 a night (yes, that’s right) one would expect some sort of housekeeping standard. Avoid this place. It’s not worth the money and the front desk clerk lied about the supervisor not being here all weekend.

First I’ll say the Explorer Cabins were not what I expected. I thought the surroundings would be more natural as West Yellowstone is right outside the park. In actuality, the cabins are located on a spit of land between parking lots. But they are surrounded by trees on that strip and after exploring WY, they are the closest to what I was expecting that you will find. Once i got over that surprise I was quite happy with them. The room and bathroom are spacious and quiet and very clean. The location is great, right across the street from the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Ctr - must do - and a block away from the park entrance. Each group of six cabins has a firepit surrounded by Adirondack chairs. S’mores kits are provided in the room. Two bottles of water in reusable tin canteens were a really nice and useful touch. Sitting on the covered porch before dinner was very private and pleasant. Parking is convenient right behind the cabins. Kitchenette is well stocked and has a toaster and coffee maker along with microwave and two burner stove top, plus tea kettle. Plates, utensils and glasses are all provided and there’s a dishwasher. Room temperature was very comfortable and I liked having the big, quiet ceiling fan. In the morning, I borrowed a bike from the front desk and tooled around town while the family slept in. Picked up some breakfast sandwiches

The Explorer Cabins are a perfect place to stay. They are past the shops and the main traffic area, so they’re quiet and you can hear the birds singing. Our cabin is 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, fireplace, kitchenette, and a couch. We relax outside on the deck reading. Or hop on some e-bikes to explore West Yellowstone. We have s’mores fixings and a fire pit. We can walk the two blocks to town or make snacks here. We love the privacy and quiet of the cabins. But we also appreciate the ease and kindness of the staff when we checked in. This is a two thumbs up place.

I was a little surprised when we arrived here as I was expecting something a little more rural! It is on a side street just off the main road. Despite this, we had a great stay here and it worked well for us. Not fancy but a decent cabin for a short stay, with a comfy bed. We heard a little bit of traffic - a truck starting up early in the morning for example but it was actually pretty quiet.

These cabins are wonderful. We traveled with a dog and having the front porch, kitchenette, the shower, and the spacious cabin were excellent. Gray Wolf Lodge manages them and the desk personnel were just about the worst you could imagine. Slow, uninterested in helping, unable to multitask. I was at the desk 3 times during our stay and each time 2-3 desk clerks could only help one persons at a time. The cabin Wifi was not available - they didn't care.. The phone in the cabin could not reach the front desk - they didn't care. Overall, I highly recommend these cabins - just not the Gray Wolf staff.
