We love Silver Gate Lodging! It is a beautiful place with cozy log cabins set among the trees. It is a short and easy drive to Lamar Valley where we love to watch the wolves and buffalo! It is quiet and peaceful and the staff are very accommodating to any thing you might need. We love to do the puzzles in the room while we sip hot cocoa and to watch the foxes playing outside!
Our biggest regret was staying only one night at this amazing place. We checked in at around 5pm with intentions of going back into the park for sunset but given that we were only there one night and it was such an exceptional place, we had our happy hour/dinner at the picnic table behind our cabin and enjoyed the peace and quiet and mountain views. We didn't mind the lack of wifi or cell service at all although wifi is available at the general store, and there is a landline for emergencies. The staff at check in could not have been more friendly and helpful. The beds were super comfortable, the towels and soaps laid out on each bed were a lovely touch, as was the complimentary guidebook. We would have loved to stay longer and next time we will for sure. We were thrilled to see a bison roaming through the property that evening and the next morning there was a cow moose right across the street.…
We stayed in the Ampitheater House, and it was so nice! The house was big for our large family plus grandma and grandpa. It was nice to have a full kitchen to cook in. The views are AMAZING and it felt so cozy coming back to the cabin every night after a long day at Yellowstone. It’s so close to the northeast entrance, and driving through Lamar Valley every day was great to see wildlife. The people were friendly, the cabin was great, the views were spectacular and everything made for a perfect vacation!
3 small areas of cabins all part of silver gate lodging . We drove around and choose whispering pines section as it is a bit more quiet & secluded. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen and bath clean and recently refurbished. Full size refrigerator allowed me to Re freeze my gallon jugs for my cooler lasting the rest of trip. Borrowed a high end scope on a tripod from manager thank you. This place is priced well for being next to north east Yellowstone entrance and Lamar valley with bear wolf and bison viewing. Came in via the Bear Tooth Scenic Highway -just beautiful. This is a good place to stay for multiple nights with full kitchen and outside seating. Some nearby eyesore cabins not part of property but not a big deal. Would stay again. Adjacent Log Cabin Cafe was a big disappointment, so bring some food to cook or go up the road to Cooke city to eat. No tv air conditioner or WiFi in cabin but you won’t find that anywhere right close to Yellowstone. Not their fault just the way it is. WiFi available at cabin office. Check out The cabins @ mammoth hot springs run by Yellowstone. Also reasonable and elk all over the place & great dinning/shops etc. Hope this helps.…
I had an additional charge after my stay that wasn't stated while I made the original booking or in the original Email confirmation after I made the booking. Apparently, they sent me an Email after I booked the room that was lost in my spam about an additional charge that wasn't stated originally in the website when I made the reservation or in the Email confirmation I got after I made the reservation. All charges and fees should be included at the time of booking. These are very misleading practices
These cabins are rustic, without WiFi or television but we knew this going in. Location is good and the General Store/checkin had friendly staff. Beds were comfortable and heat worked well. We were traveling with friends and our cabins were next to each other. Had a fire in our fire pit the first night and enjoyed the outdoors.
We stayed at Silver Gate cabin #10. Beautiful setting in the mountains with a stream/creek out the back door. Fun little back deck to sit on and relax. Cabin was RUSTIC but exactly what we wanted for a mountain experience! This cabin sits a bit apart from the other cabins so it worked beautifully for our dog to be leashed outside. Clean, comfortable bed, some utensils for cooking and eating, and a nice sized fridge/freezer to store food/refreeze ice for the cooler. If you are a big guy I don't know how well you might fit in the shower stall! It's small. LOTS of hot water. It was warm in the evening in the cabin but luckily I had a fan since I knew there was no AC. There is a ceiling fan but its been a long hot summer everywhere. Morning mountain temp however was a brisk 44 degrees! Some great little dirt roads to walk the dog as well as along the creek bed. People in the area are very friendly. LOVED this experience! You CAN live one night without a TV and a cell phone!…
We really fell in love with this little town and this amazing little cabins. I wish I couldve stayed a few more days! What a peaceful and serene area - right outside the Lamar Valley. The cabins are SO CLEAN in the middle of nature and well appointed. The bed are really comfortable! This was really our favorite location of our trip and we loved the rustic log porch and rocking chairs! Store is well stocked and staff is friendly as well!
Our trip was magical, made all the more so by the serene, picturesque surrounds of the Silver Gate Lodge. Our kids thought the cabins were so cool, cozy, "fort-like" and we found the rustic decor, the quirky goats!, the fabulous general store irresistibly charming. We cannot wait to come back and stay again. Families and "optimizer/maximizer" types [you know who you are] cannot beat the convenience of accessing the Lamar Valley quickly and at all times of day by staying as close as possible to the NE entrance gate. Add to that the excellence of hospitality and communication, clean and comfortable accommodations, being able to borrow a scope and binocs for wildlife spotting and you're set! We especially loved SG's recommendation for the Lamar Valley Wildlife Tour [lamarvalleytouring.com]. Our guide taught us how to spot and use the binocs and scopes, how to respect and "do Yellowstone" like pros -- both with spotting and hiking, and showed us some amazing wildlife. Loved that the general store had anything we might need for refueling, grabbing food, drinks, snacks to go. Accessing wifi at the general store is brilliant as signal/range is hard to come by in the area. We cannot wait to return and will definitely be back / stay here again.…
Comfortable, clean mini log cabin. Great bed and shower, free coffee in the morning, and a beautiful environment. Perfect way to start our Yellowstone trip. The cafe across the street has delicious breakfasts, too - recommend the trout and the pumpkin bread.
