The hotel was built in 1893 and like so many historic buildings, has had its ups and downs, but right now it's beautifully restored with lots of elegant details and wood paneling in the lobby and other common areas. The room, as you expect with hotels of this vintage, was small, but very nice and super clean. There's a convenient loading/unloading zone right by the back door, and free parking is in a lot just across a small side street. Front desk staff were very nice.

I was able to eat at well-ventilated outdoor tables for both dinner and breakfast. The Pub had good bar food (and cocktails); in normal times, I think the dining room would probably make for a really nice dinner, but in the current situation, only the Pub is open at dinner time. Breakfast was good, standard choices, kind of slow service but a pleasant experience.

This is a classic old hotel in an historic building.

Check-in was fast and efficient, and staff were wearing masks.

We found parking on the street in front of the hotel, but there is a lot across the street that is also convenient.

Our room was not large, but it had a comfortable bed with nice linens, and a efficient bath with fluffy towels.

There was a small but adequate desk and plugs for phone and laptop charging.

The location is great, right on the main street with a lot of dining options a short distance away.

We spent some time in the rooms on the main floor looking at the historical photos and biographies.

The Pollard has been one of our favorites for years. We spent 2 nights in May. We got a king size room, lovely very well appointed, however there was NO room service, no clean towels, no fresh toiletries etc. The front desk said it was Covid 19 related. No one staff or others wore masks?
For what we paid they should have dropped rose petals in front of our door😪

Marli’s, the bar restaurant in the building is awesome 👏

We rarely write reviews, and usually only positive ones if we do. However, we felt this less than stellar review to be appropriate given the circumstances noted in the following.

My wife and I booked a king suite for two nights, at a little over $300/night. The pictures of this on the website indicated that these premium rooms had a small sitting area with a leather couch, a coffee table, a side chair and a writing desk. Our room came with three very, very uncomfortable chairs, no couch and no coffee table. The chairs were also threadbare and dirty. The room also had no exterior windows and opened onto a interior courtyard only. I asked the front desk manager for a room with a couch as pictured in their website and was told bluntly that the hotel was full and there were no other rooms available; and also there is “no guarantee of how the room are furnished”.

Additionally, the lobby restaurant is closed for renovation which was not told to us when we made the reservation and their pub restaurant is closed also. Needless to say our romantic get-away was compromised by these issues. We will not return to the Pollard, and suggest that anyone considering this hotel do so with their expectations properly set.

First, the Pollard is a lovely hotel, breakfast was delicious, and the room was comfortable except…our room was set to 60 degrees which is too cool for us. We pushed the thermostat up to 74 but nothing happened. There were two large vents high up on the wall blowing the bed making it really cold.

I called the front desk to ask what to do and after some checking was told we were in a room that could not be controlled. But they could send up extra blankets, which we declined.

We jammed pillows on the tops of some French doors to divert the cold air blast from the vents.

Needless to say this was the most uncomfortable night We had ever spent in a hotel. I told the front desk attendant on the way out that they ought to ask their guests if they preferred a colder or warmer room if the temperature could not be controlled and she was very nice and listened.

My wife and two daughters stayed at The Pollard Hotel to set up our entry into east YNP the following morning. Being from a small town myself, my expectations were low. Boy, was I caught off guard! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we experienced nothing less than 5-star service.

The hotel is historic and feels as such. If you are looking for a Ritz Carlton experience, this is not your place. That being said, we have stayed at many luxury hotels through the years and have never been treated as well as we were treated at The Pollard.

We checked in and the staff gave my girls each a stuffed moose, which each had names within 10 minutes. After getting situated, we walked down Broadway Avenue to enjoy a nice dinner less than a block away. We also made a quick stop at Montana Candy Emporium, a throwback candy store just across the street. After a comfortable night's rest we awoke and had breakfast at the hotel. I have no idea how they prepared such amazing food so quickly. We enjoyed omelets and
the best Belgian waffles we have ever tasted.

This place was such an unexpected treat to kick off our YNP trip!

All the staff are incredibly friendly, cheery and helpful. Enjoyed reading about the history of the hotel and the history room on the first floor. We stayed in two rooms, including a corner room that was nice and bright with all the windows. The hotel provided a shower seat that could be used in the walk-in shower in the corner room. Restaurants are easily walkable, parking for the hotel was readily available and close to the hotel. Breakfast menu is nice and portions very large. We stayed here hoping to cross the Beartooth Hwy but weather conditions moved us to plan B, Chief Joseph Hwy. The sign for Chief Joseph Hwy is kind of small and the right-hand turn is unremarkable so we missed it and continued on to Yellowstone via Cody.

I spent two nights here and would happily stay again. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, except that the A/C is noisy and there's no way to just turn it off other than having someone at the desk flip a circuit breaker. Wi-fi is good. The hotel is on the main street through Red Lodge so it's easy to walk to any number of restaurants and shops. The staff is terrific, with special thanks to Robin at the front desk, who was incredibly friendly and helpful with every request.

My husband and I visited Red Lodge and stayed at The Pollard in late August 2022. We had such a relaxing time that we extended our stay so our friends could join us and experience the The Pollard and the delicious food.
Our room was the king suite with windows overlooking the back lobby area and a view of the stunning stained glass window. The room was clean and neat with plenty of room in the den area to relax with cocktails and snacks after touring the town or driving the spectacular Beartooth Hwy to Cooke City and back. (If you drive it, plan to have lunch in Cooke City at the Beartooth Cafe. Their house smoked trout is delicious!)
We ate breakfast every day in Marli's downstairs. Wendy was our waitress. Ask for her. She really brightens your morning. Plus she brings you delicious breakfasts. My husband loved the Allison's Favorite. The homemade salsa verde was divine! I love the classic breakfast, and no matter how you order your eggs, they come out perfectly cooked every time.
The staff at The Pollard is superb. Always friendly, always ready to help and answer questions. I was so impressed.
Red Lodge had a rough summer with the June flood taking out a good bit of the southern part of the town. But everyone was so upbeat and pleased that people were still coming for the visit. My husband and I can hardly wait to go back to The Pollard and Red Lodge. Excellent experience all the way around.

We booked the Pollard suite, the nicest room they offered. The pictures online show a room with lots of windows looking to the outside. The room we got had one window over looking the interior lounge and looking into 6 other guest rooms. I asked at the front if there was a price difference for the interior room, she said there was not. These rooms are grossly misrepresented on their website and certainly not worth the extra money. When discussed with staff, who was very kind and helpful, they said this had been brought up with management and the owner who do not see an issue. I would not book this hotel again unless they are doing some sort of discount as you do not know if you’ll get an interior room or not and the hotel is fairly expensive. I hope they start accurately representing their rooms online and start offering a price difference for interior vs exterior rooms. At minimum customers should know what type of room they are booking. Over all do not recommend.
