We were touring some of the local camps and lodges in the area and stopped by The Lodge at Lake Mary Ronan. They were closing down for the season but were still very warm and welcoming. The owners were zipping around on a golf cart checking on shut down progress but still stopped to chat with us. They let us know that the bar would be open for happy hour so we gladly hung around for some delicious cocktails and a tour of the lodge. I think the bar tender was surprised to see us (he was busy cleaning and putting things away), but he stopped to serve us and tell us about the place. I had a delicious huckleberry drink and my friends had an assortment of local beers. Though we didn't get to see the resort at full operations, I bet this would be a great place to vacation. The cabins were small, but looked terrific from the outside and they even had a nice workout facility facing the water, with big glass doors for a view of the lake. I would love to have dinner in the huge dining room at the lodge, decorated with heavy wooden log furniture and historic pictures. I am pretty sure if I had visited when the place was open this rating would be a 5.

This place is FANTASTiC! The 2 Donna's and their spouses have an excellent staff. The restaurant and service gets 5 stars. Cute cabins, RV sites, Marina, Lake Mary Ronan, this place has it all going for it. If they have a live band get ready for a crowd and slower service, but that happens at any establishment when they are dealing with standing room only. I am sure when the word get's out reservations will not only be suggested but required if you don't want to wait....

My mom & I stayed at a cabin near the Lodge and took advantage of their facilities during our stay. Upon arrival we met Connie and she could not have been more friendly and welcoming. She showed us around the restaurant, bar and general store. We ordered a sandwich from the store and it was delicious. That first evening we went to the restaurant for dinner and drinks and were surprised to have some musical entertainment that we enjoyed from our patio seats. The next day we rented a couple of kayaks and had the best time on the lake. We visited the bar a couple of nights and had so much fun. I feel badly that I don't remember all of the staff members' names because we adored all of them! They were all so personable, making us feel so welcomed and took the time to get to know us. Some of the members we loved is Martin and Katherine but can't leave out the cook, and the two blonde servers that worked that weekend. It is because of this over the top service that we are planning our next family vacation to stay at The Lodge RV site and cabins.

Had reservations at restaurant for 5. Friend ordered medium rare filet special. Steak came out medium well. After complaining Waiter told the Chef. He came back and said I need to take your plate to the chef because “Chef thinks I am Lying”. Long story short by the time he got his steak we all had finished our meals and we watched him eat Alone. Although the waiter apologized, what made matters worse the chef never came out to our table and apologized to us all. I was shocked and that is partly the reason for a two star rating. Not what I expected when ordering a $45 steak. I ordered a $25 pork chop that came with lentils and a couple carrots. Average meal. It was very disappointing. Beautiful location.

The grounds are beautifully maintained but the management specifically King Kevin was horrible. Do yourself a favor and go to the state park or camp tuffitt. The store by was constantly closed stating to call for service but yet there is a lack of cell service as well.

Response from The Lodge and Resort at Mary Ronan Management, Owner at The Lodge & Resort at Lake Mary Ronan
Responded Apr 7, 2023
Yes, last year was tough for so many reasons, including the fire and the scarcity of available labor. The owners apologize profusely and have been busy getting ready for our May opening and Mother’s day. There’s great news as we are fully staffed, we have a new and exciting restaurant manager who brings a wealth of knowledge, a wonderful bar and restaurant menu, and a new store manager who will be full time this season. Don’t give up on this little resort and it will be the special place to come, relax and enjoy the lake this 2023 season.

Stopped here to have dinner and had a wonderful experience. Beautiful log lodge with great view of the lake. The food was excellent! They actually served Cioppino here in Montana! I have lived in both San Francisco and Seattle areas for many years and have eaten a lot of seafood. This Cioppino was some of the best I’ve ever had! The service was outstanding, with a very friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant is a 10!

This was a return visit for us with family and friends. We all had a wonderful time - beautiful resort and great amenities and service.
Staff was friendly and accommodating for our large group.
We all enjoyed the water sport rentals, pickle ball and several wonderful meals at the restaurant.
We had several families staying at the beautiful cabins and others at the RV sites.
We also made many new friends.
We’ll be back again!

What a nice stay we had at Lake Mary Ronan Lodge and Resort. The whole place has a very homey feel, especially due to the energetic efforts of the owner, Meg, Mike and their family. We were in cabin #10, which is set back a little from the water’s edge. It has its own outside fire pit, and my son hung up his backpacking hammock between two of the trees near it so that he could read and relax anytime he wanted. We also took a look at cabin #7, which was the original building of the lodge, built back in the 20’s. It is a log cabin, with four double beds dormitory style, with curtain dividers. The cool part was the walls and ceilings. Everywhere on the walls and ceilings people had carved their names, maybe a special comment, and the year(s) of their visit. No profanity – Meg and Mike make sure of that. Some of the dates went back to the 90’s, the 80’s, the 70’s the 60’s and even the 50’s. Some families had multiple years marked in. It gave you a real feeling for how people like the place and for its history.
We spent part of our time in the Resort area and part of our time out driving around looking at the scenery. We visited, of course, Glacier National Park, which is amazing, and the National Bison Reserve, which is much cooler than we expected.
Lake Mary Ronan Lodge is somewhat remote, which is part of its appeal. It is located lakeside, and is surrounded by a National Forest and untouched private timber land, for thousands of acres. There are a few homes lakeside nearby and another small camp area, and that is about it. Everywhere around it are deep woods as far as you can see, with lots of wildlife. Everything centers on the lodge building which has a restaurant area on one side and an eat-in lounge area on the other. It has a really comfy feel, and the wait staff is made of really likeable local young people. Whenever you walk in, you are greeted as a friend and local, something I really liked about the place.
We were there during the 4th of July week, and my son and I really enjoyed ourselves. For the 4th, the Lodge buys a huge amount of fireworks and takes a boat out into the lake to set them off. Meanwhile, some of the private homes around the area are doing the same thing. And no one spares the expense. It was spectacular, and definitely one of the best fireworks displays I have ever seen, which includes a lot of places.
My son and I really loved the place. It IS rustic, and if you require perfection you should look elsewhere. But the comfortable, safe, quiet and pleasant atmosphere is what sold me. It is just a great place.

Hi. After my stay, I kept in touch with the old owners of Lake Mary Ronan Lodge, and I called them when I saw your question. They sold the lodge about a month ago (today is the 4th of July, 2015), and as they understand it, the new owners are working on the lodge and grounds to prepare for a new opening. It was not clear to them if the new owner plans to open it this summer or next year.
My guess is that since the website is still up, the new owner plans to resume at some point, and will update the website with working phone numbers when that time comes. As you can tell from my review, I really enjoyed my stay, and I think the wait will be worth it.
