Campground is right on the Yellowstone River. Cute cabins right on the shore that looked cool. We stayed in a full hook-up pull-through RV spot on the other side of the campground and it was an easy walk to the river. Gorgeous views of the mountains all around. Nice quiet atmosphere. About a 40 minute drive to Yellowstone which we were happy to do to avoid staying in West Yellowstone. Easy booking and check-in, super helpful employees. We needed a little later checkout and they accommodated us with no problems. Albertsons grocery right off the highway about 10 minutes away. Saw reviews saying they didn’t like the highway noise but we heard none of that. Campground is about 1.5 miles off the highway-all we heard was cattle from the nearby ranch, and the river. Only reason for knocking off a star is that the facilities are pretty worn. Our patio was rough and the picnic table was pretty rickety. Laundry facilities (mostly) worked but machines look like they haven’t been replaced in 30 years. …
We spent one night at this KOA. It is on the banks of the Yellowstone River about 50 miles north of Gardiner Wyoming's north entrance to Yellowstone National Park so it has a beautiful location. We rented one of the camper cabins with a half bath. It has the ability to sleep five although it would be a tight fit. You bring your own linens and blankets The bed was comfortable. The cabin was spotlessly clean. Although we did not have the opportunity to use all the cabin amenities our cabin did have a refriderator and microwave as well as webber grill on the porch and a fire ring. The cabin also had a large swing on the porch. The camp store seemed to be well stocked and had a variety of items to purchase. The woman at the store was friendly and helpful.
Our deluxe cabin was nice, but probably not worth the $200/night we paid for it. It was very cute and surprisingly roomy. The rustic furniture was nice. The loft for the kids was huge, us parents even went up two nights to watch family movies together (note that it was not two full size mattresses as stated, but rather one full, one twin, and one that was maybe a twin XL? Thankfully my boys brought sleeping bags and it worked out for us.) It was nice to have a separate room for the parents, but the bed was terribly uncomfortable and gave me back spasms. The room also had a huge closet, I would’ve brought hangers had I known. The dirty cabin floors turned my feet grey and the sofa bed was disgusting inside, I’m so glad we didn’t have to use it. The neighbors were very close - we heard all their conversations and also had an RV parked literally 3 feet from us. Besides proximity, the outdoor space was amazing, with two decks and a patio with tons of seating. Loved the gas grill and river view. The hot water for dishes and showers was fantastic, and there were plenty of dishes and utensils provided. The indoor pool smelled like sewage, even the kids didn’t want to be in there so we skipped it. We couldn’t find the hammock park, but the kids liked the playground and outdoor gym. The ladies at the front desk were super nice, and items in the camp store were reasonably priced - which is good because very basic things we thought should be included were not, like hand soap, paper towels, garbage bags, a dish scrubber, hand towels, and rugs. We come to the area a lot and will probably stay again, but in a smaller/cheaper cabin or campsite. …
Compared to the other KOA we stayed at, this one was cooler. I think this is more of a campground than the "journey" type. We had a nice little tent site with electricity, right across from the bathrooms. The bathrooms were a little strange, there were constantly people going in and out and they all seemed to know each other and peek into the windows, which creeped me out. But we didn't have any issues at all. We came after hours so we didn't deal with any of the staff to know how they are.
Wow, where to begin. First of all, we stayed here because it is close to my brother's home and we thought it would be a great little getaway. We arrived and checked in just fine. This is all happening during COVID, they looked at us like we were crazy for wearing masks. We get to our cabin that has clearly not been cleaned, huge cobwebs everywhere. Thought okay that's fine its camping no big deal. Went to the bathroom it was beyond disgusting. We checked the one bathroom for 2 days straight and the soap was not replaced. My husband let the front office know about this and they argued with him and then finally went and filled it. We watched a woman come and clean the cabin next to us, she took two minutes, and from what we could tell only took the trash out, no cleaning at all. Again, this is all during COVID. Lastly, we made a mistake on our reservation and thought we had booked for one more night. When the staff came by to tell us we had to leave we asked to check at the front office to verify that we made a mistake. The woman at the computer refused to stop what she was doing to help us and then once she did they announced over the radio that we had 6 minutes to pack up all of our stuff or we would be charged for another night. This all happened at 1130am, check out was at 11 but we were out on a hike. Check-in isn't until 3 pm I'm not sure why they could only allow us 6 minutes when they had 3 hours until check-in and it takes them 2 minutes to "clean" the cabin. Horrible customer service. Very upsetting experience. None of our family will ever stay there again. And I will be passing this on to everyone I know.…
