We chose the Grand because of its location in downtown Kalispell. January means cold and snow so being able to walk just down the block to a variety of cafes and pubs made our snowy evening much easier. The history of the Grand is amazing and the owners embraced the style and coziness. Rooms were small but super clean. Coffee bar and comfy seating in the dining area for breakfast was fun and felt like my grandma’s living room. Best of all was the welcome from the manager. Need early check in-come on over! Left an item after checkout-we’ll hold it for you! Free parking in a lot that was plowed before we left the next morning was great. Go back in time for real Montana ambience.
My family and I stayed in Kalispell during our visit to Glacier National Park. The staff was incredible from the time we made our reservation to the time we left the hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Recommend getting a room opposite the main street. Many places to eat are in walking distance. Parking is available right down the street or right across the hotel if you get there early.
We have stayed at the Grand Hotel numerous times over the years and have noticed a marked decline in the overall experience. We stayed two separate nights. Both times the sinks would not drain properly despite a healthy application of Drain-O by front desk staff. We had a reservation for our 7/23 stay, but the front desk was going to charge me over $100 more than my reservation. I questioned the rate and the clerk stated that they had raised their rates. She quickly backed off that when I showed her my reservation. Then at about 12:30 AM on 7/23, a loud chirping sound similar to a smoke detector whose battery is drained sounded off and on. After about 30 mins of that, I went downstairs to summon help. The night clerk left a note (looked like it was signed, Scott), stating that…
Not your typical economy hotel. Great staff. No frills stay but I was happy I found it. The location is pretty great - close to many non-franchise restaurants and a 24-hour grocery just a couple of blocks away. I was in an economy room which although small, it was perfect for me. It would be cumbersome moving about the room with two people however. The room had a queen bed and it was very comfortable. Lots of pillows too. Just thinking about it .. I wish I could stay there again to get more sleep actually! The air conditioner was a real workhorse. I stayed when the temp spiked to about 100 degrees but the room was a perfect temperature. Some people don't like the air conditioner noise, but you can't deny how well they work to drown out traffic. However, this part of Kalispell…
We stayed at the Grand for the final night of our vacation before flying out the next mooning. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Moreover, the complimentary breakfast buffet was excellent, and boasted a great variety of dishes. If I'm out that way again, I'd consider a longer stay.
This hotel is better than average, though a very good rating might be going too far. But I decided on very good, because the staff was so welcoming, and the hotel is such a classic old downtown hotel. The beautiful wood in the lobby and staircase to second floor are just the right feel. The cookies, drinks (non-alcoholic), and breakfast spread was also very nice. It appears that they are still in the process of renovating some areas, and this is certainly needed for some of the public places--e.g. the room of the main lobby where we ate breakfast needs new wallpaper soon. Our room was small (as older hotel rooms will be), but clean and very nice. The one complaint I would have is with the road noise. Until very late at night you could hear trucks and other vehicles.
Nice updated old historic hotel right in downtown Kalispell. Easy walk to downtown shops, restaurants and attractions. Great breakfast each day. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking provided. Rooms a little small, but typical of older downtown hotels.
We came from Sacramento California and stayed here a couple nights in June 2021. Beautiful historical hotel, and GREAT MOST HELPFUL staff! Wonderful homemade cookies every afternoon. Delicious breakfasts included with room-rate every morning. Cozy and tranquil. Couldn’t be better!
The room we had was great. Nice bathroom area. The flavor of the hotel with its history was fabulous. The staff was very nice and helpful. Located in downtown Kalispell, it convenient to many restaurants.
Really enjoyed our trip to Kalispell late this June (2021). The hotel is over 100 years old, so doesn't have the big rooms with the big TV, refrigerator, microwave, etc. etc. BUT what it does have are very clean rooms (with a TV and DirectTV), great breakfast (was included) with home-made quiche, cake, lots of atmosphere, super-friendly staff, great location (walking distance to everything downtown (restaurants, bars/pubs, stores, ...,) and excellent WIFI (better than 45Mbps any time of time!) -- also reasonably priced. A great home-base to explore Whitefish, Flathead National Forest, and of course Glacier National Park (about 40 mins away).
