We decided to stay at this hotel because it's a good dog-friendly option near Glacier. It's a historic hotel located downtown and has a lot of memorabilia and artifacts on display. It is also pretty basic - don't expect too many frills. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are quite sparse. It's a good spot though and would recommend for a quick visit, especially if you have a dog.
The Grand lives up to its name. This historic hotel has a great atmosphere, clean rooms, a great staff, and a homemade breakfast, all in a great location. We've stayed several times and have always had a very enjoyable experience. Also a great base for local shopping as well as exploring the Flathead area or Glacier National Park.
I was originally worried , this is an older hotel and the online pictures weren’t great . We booked hoping it would be a decent hotel . This place was BEAUTIFUL, very clean ! The staff was helpful and friendly . The baked oatmeal and quiche were both amazing ! Popcorn and cookies 🍪 yum! I highly suggest , this place was much better than expected.
My husband and I just returned from a trip to Montana, and while the hotel overall was great, unfortunately we experienced theft. We had the cleaning service come in only once during our stay. Our last night at dinner I went to put on my nicer shoes ( custom vans that cost me well over $100) and we couldn’t find them anywhere which was odd because I’d worn them the two days previous. We didn’t want to jump to conclusions so we searched our car as well as the hotel room extensively. My husband went down to the front desk and they were super kind to call their cleaning service to check, but of course the cleaning service denied having seen or stolen them. We got home and did one more massive search of everything to no avail. I am super disappointed that my favorite pair of shoes got stolen from a place that was otherwise wonderful. I hope action is taken with the cleaning staff so that no other thefts occur.…
We had an amazing time in this cozy, clean, and warm hotel. The history and art was so lovely. The front desk workers we so accommodating and pleasent, especially Jill. We will definitely be coming back.
We chose the Grand because of its location in downtown Kalispell. January means cold and snow so being able to walk just down the block to a variety of cafes and pubs made our snowy evening much easier. The history of the Grand is amazing and the owners embraced the style and coziness. Rooms were small but super clean. Coffee bar and comfy seating in the dining area for breakfast was fun and felt like my grandma’s living room. Best of all was the welcome from the manager. Need early check in-come on over! Left an item after checkout-we’ll hold it for you! Free parking in a lot that was plowed before we left the next morning was great. Go back in time for real Montana ambience.
My family and I stayed in Kalispell during our visit to Glacier National Park. The staff was incredible from the time we made our reservation to the time we left the hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Recommend getting a room opposite the main street. Many places to eat are in walking distance. Parking is available right down the street or right across the hotel if you get there early.
We have stayed at the Grand Hotel numerous times over the years and have noticed a marked decline in the overall experience. We stayed two separate nights. Both times the sinks would not drain properly despite a healthy application of Drain-O by front desk staff. We had a reservation for our 7/23 stay, but the front desk was going to charge me over $100 more than my reservation. I questioned the rate and the clerk stated that they had raised their rates. She quickly backed off that when I showed her my reservation. Then at about 12:30 AM on 7/23, a loud chirping sound similar to a smoke detector whose battery is drained sounded off and on. After about 30 mins of that, I went downstairs to summon help. The night clerk left a note (looked like it was signed, Scott), stating that he would return in 5 minutes. After waiting 15 minutes, I left him a note requesting assistance - no one contacted me. The next morning the shower was barely lukewarm. I overheard staff talking and apparently, we weren't the only room with a cold shower problem. I had to brush my teeth with cold water. The staff that does show up for work is pleasant and tries to be helpful. Upon checking out, I explained our troubles to the front desk who said she thought our room should be "comped," but we never did see any such accommodation. Maybe our less than satisfactory experience has something to do with its new owners who thus far seem to be making mostly cosmetic changes.…
Not your typical economy hotel. Great staff. No frills stay but I was happy I found it. The location is pretty great - close to many non-franchise restaurants and a 24-hour grocery just a couple of blocks away. I was in an economy room which although small, it was perfect for me. It would be cumbersome moving about the room with two people however. The room had a queen bed and it was very comfortable. Lots of pillows too. Just thinking about it .. I wish I could stay there again to get more sleep actually! The air conditioner was a real workhorse. I stayed when the temp spiked to about 100 degrees but the room was a perfect temperature. Some people don't like the air conditioner noise, but you can't deny how well they work to drown out traffic. However, this part of Kalispell doesn't appear to be very busy anyway and the Friday and Saturday I stayed [last week of July] were pretty quiet. I believe restaurants and stores close earlier than usual because of COVID and it's impact on the workforce. So don't expect to find much nightlife until that improves. Come on people! Let's put this virus to bed. GET VAXXED! Also, even though the entire hotel was booked when I stayed. I didn't hear any noise [like, literally, no noise even with air conditioner off and TV off] from my upstairs or rooms on either side of mine. No squeaky floorboards either. I would have thought this might be an issue considering the age of the facilities. Nope. They offer a continental breakfast - something I'm not a fan of, but they do offer a variety of some tasty food if you're into it. Finally - I was a bit wary of the security there. They hand you an actual metal key for your room. The door on my room didn't look very secure, with a fairly significant gap between the doorframe and the door. I guess this would be my only bad feedback and I don't know if all the doors are the same way. There are deadbolts and that - uh - other thing that swings closed over a small knob that can only be opened from the inside so I felt secure when I was in the room. Give it a shot. Support the local economy! Stay here!…
We stayed at the Grand for the final night of our vacation before flying out the next mooning. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Moreover, the complimentary breakfast buffet was excellent, and boasted a great variety of dishes. If I'm out that way again, I'd consider a longer stay.
