We spent one night here on our way to Yellowstone. I wish we could have stayed longer. The owner and manager were both very nice and friendly and gave us history of the property as well as places and things to do in the area. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. Each room had its own bathroom. A delicious breakfast was served at the time we requested in the dinig room. I highly recommend this place.
This B&B is located in a historic residential area on a hill above the original downtown Helena. Downtown was an easy walk away and had many dining options. The house has been renovated and is quite nice. The room we chose included a bathroom in the room. Many of the others had their bathroom across a hall. All the bedrooms are on the second floor and accessed by two narrow staircases. Breakfast was very good and provided at the exact time we scheduled it. Highly recommended.
We loved the Barrister Bed & Breakfast! Our room was perfect. Clean, calm and very comfortable. Nick and Beth are amazing hosts. The house is historic and offers large common areas. We also loved the amazing breakfast. The only bad thing was that we stayed there for only 1 night. We would definitely stay there again!
Awesome place with a great host and support crew. Don't stay any place else in Helena and if you do decide to stay, stay two nights or more. This place is an experience, not just a night's stay. When you grab your morning's coffee, plan to sit down and soak in the place. The 1800's look is authentic and not like resting in a garage sale of antiques, it's the real deal. Bring your camera and take home the memories. If you are Catholic, it is just across the street from the most amazing building in Montana, the Cathedral of Saint Helena and are immersed in the community of 1800's history of Montana, up and down the streets.
I stayed at the Barrister for the first two nights of my first trip to the US and what a lovely welcome it was from the moment I was picked up at the airport. Great rooms and service, wonderful hosts, convenient location and delicious breakfasts. I was very glad I decided to stay here rather than one of the big hotel chains and would definitely recommend!
Stayed one night (booked for two, but flight didn't make it in time--I paid for both though unfortunately didn't have a chance to experience the happy hour, which sounded very nice.) Good glimpse into Western Victorian style as built by a wealthy gold man in a neighborhood formerly the center for Jewish residents in Helena.) At least one room has a bath in the room (#1.) Breakfast was filling and served on the pleasant porch with a direct view across to the cathedral. Nick and Beth are lovely in hosting and organizing. If you need services of a chain hotel, or cannot climb stairs, this may not work for you, but it gives a real feel for the area.
This is a great place to stay in Helena. Nick welcome the guest and Beth is at the top of everything Thank you for a lovely stay at Barrister. The place is walking distance to restaurants and shops. The bathrooms are not inside of the bedroom but each one has its own bathroom
Beautiful B &B in a beautiful Victorian home. Our host Nick was so welcoming. All of the staff here were super friendly and helpful. The house is gorgeous. They even welcomed us with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 5:30. Breakfast was delicious- we wished we could have stayed longer!
We stayed 3 nights and we liked it very much. Nick is a nice and helpful host, breakfast was excellent and the rooms unique. It is in walking distance to downtown Helena and a real good place for tours to the gates of the mountains or hiking trails like the Trout Canyon. We would always come back!
Got a call July 27 " er...umm just kinda checking that we were staying with them" and something about integration of their reservations calendars. I advised I would check the specifics if our visit (reserved 5 MONTHS earlier, did so,and, as agreed, Presuming all was good since what they had jibes at my end, I did not call back as there was issue. Seven days later we were called to advise there was a "mess up" and that they could not accommodate us at all. They gave a phone reference to another B&B which was supposed to have a room available . We called that B&B but NO return call. Finally we just gave up and booked into a local motel. Dissapointed. They offered a free stay next time we are back which won'y be anytime in the forseeable or distant future.
