This hotel is truly a hidden gem. When booking my trip I was looking for a location with a beautiful view, we close to town, and had enough beds that everyone in our party could have their own (there were 4 of us.) Most of the hotels were in the area were around $250 a night and only had 2 beds in one room. Then we were lucky enough to stumble across the Yellowstone River Motel which had a family suite with a kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 4 beds and best of all it was cheaper per night than all of the other hotels!! The hotel itself is a bit outdated, which Chelsea told me when we booked, but our party thought it was great. The room was nice, well maintained and very clean. Also the beds were very comfortable. The patio area was beautiful and a great spot to have your coffee in the morning or unwind after a long day in the park. Anytime we needed something the staff made sure we were taken care of. Cannot wait to stay here in the future!!

We spent a week here and felt very safe. Check in was done through a window, and we were told that they deep clean after each checkout- they even change the filter on the heat/air unit. During our stay I witnessed the nice staff deep cleaning, so I know it’s true. The motel is in a great location, by the entrance to Yellowstone. Also near a trail down to the river, which our dog loved. We would definetly stay here again.

With the north entrance to Yellowstone Park closed indefinitely since flooding damages in June, the tourism business in the town of Gardiner was barely trickling in during our early July stay. We had chosen this basic motel for its idyllic location, walking distance to the closed park entrance, and its perch over the Yellowstone River. The rooms are small, clean, have microwaves and small refrigerators, and the bed was fine. The best part was having a nice patio with a lawn overlooking the river. We found a few good hiking trails outside the park, bursting with wildflowers. On a Sunday, there were only two restaurants open for dinner. Don’t give up your reservation – instead enjoy the quiet peace of the river before the park reopens and the traffic resumes.

Finally made it here after planning two previous trips that had to be cancelled. Motel does not make online reservations so send them an email and Miss Betty will get back to you when they open in May, after their winter closure. This family-run establishment is a very special place. After being greeted by Betty and Myron, we were assigned double queen room 202, lower floor facing a quiet street. The room (yep, it is a bit older in decor) was huge, beds extremely comfortable, and absolutely sparkling bathroom with a very large vanity. Fresh coffee is available each morning by the office. Each evening of our three night stay, we enjoyed time on the back lawn visiting with other travelers and keeping an eye on the nearby elk while listening to the rushing Yellowstone River. I am so glad that this motel was able to weather the lost summer season after the devastating flood of June 2022. May it prosper for many more years as it is a gem!

Thank you so much for the glowing review and we are so thankful you recognize the challenges faced by Gardiner (and motels in particular) following the 2022 Flood. Thank you for your persistence to stay with us and your support of our family business! We will be sure to share your kind words with Betty (mom), Myron, and the entire staff! We look forward to your next visit!

One of the most reasonably priced accommodations in an otherwise costly area. This is a family owned motel. Nothing fancy-think 1970's motel-but has everything you need. There is a newer wing and an older wing. We stayed in the older wing. The beds are very comfortable. There is tv, wi-fi, microwave, fridge, and single cup coffee maker. Coffee pods are provided, or you can get fresh brewed coffee from the office when they open at 7:30 am. There are quiet hours starting at 10pm, but many guests want to get to the park early, so you start to hear people around 7 am. The office staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We found our bathroom to be a bit inconvenient. The sink was very tiny, and the shower head was very low, so that even I, as short as I am, had to duck my head under to wash my hair. This was only a minor inconvenience, as we spent most of the day in the park. The location is fantastic! Only a block to the entrance of Yellowstone, and walking distance to shops and restaurants. If you plan to spend all day in the park and need a place to sleep at night, this is the place.
One thing to note: their website is not updated, so the price listed is not current. Call first.

Positives: location is perfect with quick access to the park entrance. The staff are very friendly. Coffee is complimentary and you can sit by the river to relax at the end of the day. It was also great that the room had air conditioning because it seems a lot of places don’t. The price was one of the lowest in the area. I’m guessing the negatives are why the price is low.
Negatives: the room was old and outdated. The carpet was disgusting. I could see about 5 inches of black dirt/mold all around the edge of the room and where the bed hit the floor. It’s as if only the center of the room is vacuumed. The smell when we entered was lemon cleaning products overpowering a very old/moldy smell. Finally I could feel the springs in the mattress and the sheets and towels are the thinnest, lowest quality I’ve ever used.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback nikester and we are glad to hear you enjoyed your experience with our team and our patio overlooking the Yellowstone River. Such a nice place to relax at the end of the day! Thankfully, due to our extremely dry climate, mold is not an issue here in Gardiner but it sounds like it might be time to dedicate a team member to edging carpet in the rooms (this is a project done periodically throughout the season as it isn't feasible to edge every day) for dust. We are guessing you were located in our back string which has plywood walls (some people _love_ this section of the motel but not everybody) which do have a different scent due to the wooden infrastructure. Thankfully you can easily open the doors and windows back there and get fresh mountain air! You'll be happy to know we just got a fresh batch of linens in (we have to use a lot of bleach to thoroughly clean those industrial-grade towels between guests). We hope you try staying with us again in the future and suggest you try the updated wing in the motel instead as it sounds to us like it may be more to your particular liking. It's a bit more expensive but everything is a little bit newer. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacation in Yellowstone!

Give them a call, without online booking they are easy to overlook. Only a few minute drive to Yellowstone and Mammoth. They have a patio overlooking the river with free use of their grills and charcoal. No laundry, but there is a laundromat within walking distance. Also no breakfast, but a fridge in the room. Room was clean and host was friendly.

We just returned from a Road Scholar trip to Yellowstone National Park. While in the area we stayed at the Yellowstone River Motel. I was impressed with how friendly, welcoming, and helpful all the staff were. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. Connecting to the WiFi was easy (and it was reasonably fast). Cell reception in town was also not a problem. (Inside the park there is no cell reception with T-mobile.) Gardiner is a small, quaint town. Everything we needed was within walking distance of the motel (visiting the Roosevelt Arch, souvenir shops, restaurants, grocery market, etc.) They have a lovely patio overlooking the Yellowstone River. We got up early to watch the sun rise over the mountains and to watch the fox den across the river. The elk regularly come into town and can frequently be seen by the Roosevelt Arch. I would definitely stay at the Yellowstone River Motel if I was ever in the area again.

Stayed here one night for Yellowstone visit. Older motel but very clean and can’t beat the price and location (right outside the northern entrance-can’t beat that proximity to the park!) . In the backyard was the Yellowstone River and seating to enjoy it. The receptionist was very helpful with providing a coffee pot when I mentioned my sisters rooms had one but I didn’t. Also a
Ring was left there and Darlene said she would mail it
at no charge-how’s that for customer service?

It was nice that the office staff asked if we had AAA so he could give us a discount on the room. The view out in the back patio of the Yellowstone River was beautiful. It was a great place to enjoy our picnic. Chairs and tables were provided. The room was clean and a microwave and refrigerated were provided. The Motel was close enoughto walk to Main Street but far enough to be quiet. I would definitely stay here again if I am in Gardiner.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom/kitchen suite and I don't see where a cot would go - we barely had room for our suitcases! The other rooms/suites may have more floor space, but I would wait to hear back from the owners. Wish I could help more!
