We have stayed at the Rainbow Ranch a few times. Our last experience was a relaxing and comfortable one, looking forward to staying again, when they are done with all their renovations. I really loved having a fireplace in our room and being on the Gallatin River. Thank you Scott, Michael & Anna!

This is a glorified roadside dive. Don’t waste your money. I’ve slept in horse stalls that are cleaner. It shames the state we live in. In this day and age you need to be on top of your game and they miss the mark. Your better off staying at a Holiday Inn.

We were booked to stay in the Ermine Suite. As a local who takes weekend getaways monthly I really wanted to be able to give this a 5 star review and add this place to our ‘great places to stay’ list. We checked in and then checked out. Our suite was beyond dirty. When I checked out and I talked to the front desk lady and the Accounting Manager, I told them of my dissatisfaction of the room. The front desk lady let me know that the GM Michael will call me the next day (Wednesday) & ‘I don’t see why he won’t refund your money’. Since that day I have called several times to resolve this, to confirm that they will be refunding my almost $1,200 that they have charged me. I called Wednesday afternoon and left a message for Michael since I wasn’t sure if the front desk told him to contact me as I hadn’t heard from him. Thursday - I left a voicemail message for Scott (owner) to contact me since I hadn’t heard from Michael. Hours later I called again and was told Scott was in Seattle, they didn’t know if he picked ip his messages and that Michael could get me in contact with him. I left another message with the front desk to have Michael call me. I still have not heard back from anyone; Maybe this will get someones attention to do the right thing. I will update if they do. About our room: Sheets & pillowcases didn’t fit. We called for a new fitted sheet so we could remake the bed. The front desk responded with ‘that happens with montana sheets’. Please don’t make excuses, the bed should have been made properly to begin with. Housekeeping should take pride in their work. They are the biggest face of an establishment. One king pillow had one standard pillow case on it with half of the pillow hanging out. Not even two cases to cover the whole pillow which would be totally acceptable. You could see the dirty box spring under the mattress. It was actually disgusting. No decor, the room was basic & could use a slight refresh in painting spots on the wall and caulking holes by the outlets. How about scrubbing the room....there were fingerprints & drip marks on the fridge, the phone didn’t look like it was cleaned in months. I don’t want to get sick! There was only 1 robe. The floors are dirty. You couldn’t even walk on the hardwood floors and put your feet on the bed without getting the bed dirty with floor dirt. The shower door needed a good cleaning. It just wasn’t hard water spots. It was soap drips leftover from the last shower. The fireplaces were not cleaned & had leftover burnt logs in them. It would have been nice if there was more than 2 logs in the inside wood holder. I will say we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to the room and saw an outside fireplace with wood. We were excitedly planning our evening by the outside fire...please note that was before we walked in the room. No tub salts as stated in the room description. We had dinner reservations for each night the restaurant was open that we canceled when we left. I don’t know if I’m more disappointed I’m the room or now the management.

We were really looking forward to celebrating a 50th birthday at rainbow ranch, and turned out to be a total miss for this family. This is not a $266 plus tax room a night. The service and management did not live up to our expectations. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: 1. The area is beautiful 2. The hot tub with fireplace 3. Cons: 1:The room is very underwhelming, the room had appeared to not have been cleaned prior to our arrival. The carpet was stained in many areas and very musty. Their was garbage on the floor and on nightstand. The sheets on the bed were inside out. The coffee maker was no way useable and no cups to make coffee or cream and sugar. 2. The bathroom was absolutely horrendous. There was gum behind the toilet the sink, and jetted tub were absolutely disgusting. Mold everywhere..I feel I need to get a tetanus shot after using that bathroom. 4. There were two employees loudly arguing and swearing for over a half hour outside our room. I thought it was going to get physical at one point. 5. The restaurant wild caddis’ online menu is not the menu they actually have. We were seated for dinner and heard the waitress continuously apologizing for long wait time and orders not right. We waited 30 minutes with no greeting and got up and left. 6. Breakfast was standard hotel fare, nothing special… the construction workers and their kids were sitting at the main tables eating breakfast before they went to work as the guest had to sit in the bar area for breakfast… 6. We asked for a “refresh” on our room after two days and that consisted of two rolls of toilet paper and fresh towels thrown on the bed. No cleaning, no nothing.. The management seemed disengaged and uninterested in rectifying any of the issues. We expected 4 star resort and service and got a two star motel with terrible service. The bathroom was a big deal… take your money elsewhere…

The back side of the property is lovely; really enjoyed the stream and colors in late fall. However, they had several issues which warranted an average rating. Almost wanted to lower the rating by one but gave them credit for the serenity of the grounds in back. First, our building was getting a new roof as we checked in (Cougar room). They explained the situation but made no attempt to place us in another building or at a minimum our rate should have been discounted since we were never notified in advance. Thank goodness we had a light rain over the next two days which put the roofers on the sideline. The tub in the room was disgusting! We were told that's on the remodel list but it didn't help our situation. Again, no action when this was brought to their attention. There were some vacant rooms in our building and that's where some of the construction workers were being housed! Really??? And I had to overpay for our room! Lack of staff keep the dining room from being open our first night. That kept us from even considering a dinner there...didn't want to risk a substandard experience. However, we did eat the buffet breakfast included in our rate and it was quite good...that was a positive! I'd probably not stay there again as it was overpriced for what was offered. I'd look further at some of the hotels/other options in Big Sky if we visit there again.
