We spent one night at the Ranch while scouting Montana. The location is beautiful. The exterior is largely well kept. The execution is poor: The sink in our room was clogged. After not finding staff I used my hand as a plunger and got it working again. The toilet paper was down to a few sheets. No replacement toilet paper in the room. The carpet was dirty. See picture. No forks at breakfast, nobody attending the breakfast buffet. Asking for suggestions for fly fishing and outfitters. The receptionist is pulling up Google.

Just returned from a wedding at The Rainbow Ranch - and it was interesting to say the least. I will start with the Lone pro - it is an absolutely gorgeous property. Now the cons - where do I begin? I arrived with the bride for an early check in (they said our rooms were ready), only to find both rooms were filthy. Garbage all over - dirty gross rooms and showers (one guest had feces dried on the toilet). The bridal suite door lock was broken. Crooked wall art. Light bulbs out. Just nasty. When we inquired about having these things corrected, the staff acted like we were unreasonable. The GM asked if I wanted to argue about it. What?!?! The rooms have potential - just need a good cleaning. There is a difference between rustic and dirty. The bridal cabin (where we got ready) has ridiculously horrible lighting for hair and make-up, no A/C, and was also disgustingly filthy. Complimentary breakfast gave people diarrhea and although we were told the tap water was drinkable, it smelled and tasted like sulfur. Staff wandered around in their PJs and ate openly in the dining room with the guests. And now the icing on the cake….the wedding meal - no bread plates. Asked for more bread and told no. After dinner I noticed that no tables had been bussed so I poked my head in the kitchen to see what the issue was, and I found the entire staff sitting down to “family dinner!” I had to ask them to get up and clear dirty plates from tables!!! The bartender lost our credit card, and I was charged for appetizers for the bridal suite that they didn’t even bring. Although the wedding itself was gorgeous and fun, the staff and service lacked professionalism and decorum - something that is certainly expected at a place and price like that. This could be a premier wedding destination if they had management and staff that actually cared about their job! Very disappointing at the very least.

It has been a dream of mine to stay at a place on our favorite River, the Gallatin. The Mountain Lion room was gorgeous. The place was experiencing staff shortages due to illness so there were some things that were missing from our stay, like no breakfast and the hot tub & fireplace were being repaired. But the room itself was well-appointed and really beautiful. When we contacted the management about our concerns after we returned home, she was gracious & accommodating. We would stay here again in the future, hoping things would be repaired by then.

This place might have been beautiful 10 years ago, but in need of a total makeover and deep, deep cleaning! We attended a wedding here and were booked for 4 nights at $400. Per night. Room smelled of urine and was dirty. Breakfast was non existent. No lunch available. Landscaping a mess. We left after (1) night.

Internet magic = very disappointed reality. We checked in at 4:00 and there was no staff in the lobby. Finally we found a worker who stated she was the accounting manager, and her reply was “Well you know COVID” “ House keepers called out sick” while waiting 45 minutes to get our keys to a clean room, I walked around the property, just seemed like they shoved all the mess from the restaurant, bar, and outside venue into corners, nothing seemed put away. Also according to the website/internet the Rainbow lodge states we can book your experiences or recommend activities, we asked another female front desk clerk about snowshoeing and dogsledding, and her reply was let me check Google. We could have done that ourselves. We don’t know the area and we would like local advice. We entered the room, the wood floors were splitting and major water damage near the bathtub. The worker stated that the heat comes up from the ground. Hence the split, dangerous wood. The room was filthy. Blood on the comforter, floors were black with dirt. My wife actually purchased a swifter mop to clean the floors the next morning. . The fire place did not work properly, for a few minutes the smoke went up the chimney, then about every 10 minutes the smoke came back into the room. We were suppose to be here for 3 nights. We decided to go to dinner not on property , as walking out of the room we noticed many smudges, slime on the front door, looked like the last guest had a dog, cigarette butts on the porch, and once again not cleaned, then we could not lock the door with the key. We followed the instructions for the key/lock and fire place no success. Got back from dinner and I went to take a shower, rain down faucet with 1/4 of the holes working, hair in the drain, and shampoo case about to fall off the wall. Not to mention that there was no toilet paper holder or dispenser, so $325 a night u have to reach around the toilet to get paper. I can imagine that 5 years ago it was a beautiful clean room and property. With that being said, we left the property the next morning, did not stay for the next 2 nights. The Rainbow Ranch did give us a full refund. We would have loved to stay at this property based on the internet pictures and experience. Customer service and housekeeping could have fixed this problem.

We stayed her in November 2021, I had called the hotel directly to book one of the ‘beautifully spacious’ King Rooms with seating area and desk because we needed to get some work done whilst traveling. The lady on the phone said there were none available (even though Hotels.com were showing availability) but that they had a one bedroom Bridal Cabin available. Great! Even better! We were so excited to come! When we checked in we were given a room not shown on the website, tiny! I stubbed my toe several times on the bed when entering the room! No seating area no desk, no cabin! We called the front desk and were informed the Bridal cabin had no bed and there were no other rooms available. We called the front desk a couple more times during the weekend and nothing else was available . When we came to leave on the Monday morning there was no breakfast?! We told the lady at the front desk that we had not got the suite we had been promised , ‘oh, I thought you were in the suite, I don’t know why not.’ Was the reply. Never have I experienced such incompetence! Especially for $300 a night!

For two friends traveling from Colorado, looking for a change of scenery and a new mountain to explore, this Rustic Mountain Lodge delivered. Rainbow Ranch’s grounds are well maintained, the outside has a fresh facelift. Though the inside of our room could use some updating, I believe management is aware of this and are slowly updating all their room. It was clean and just what we needed. I was able to work remotely for the week, note that there is no cell service, to be expected in a remote mountain location, however, there is a good WiFi connection, enabling me to send texts and make calls. Needless, to say I was able to get all my work done. While my friend was enjoying the ski mountain which is a close 20-minute drive to the base of Big Sky, I enjoyed the hot tub, hiking trail, fire pits, and comfy leather chairs in the lobby. We had dinner in the restaurant two nights during our stay, What a treat that was! We tried the Bison tenderloin, Wild trout, Ribeye, Wild Boar ravioli, and Wine! We both agreed it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time and we live in Vail. A few things of note would be the walls of our hotel room are thin, we defiantly heard the conversations of our neighbors. As mentioned the rooms could use some updating, new carpet, and updated bathrooms, in the meantime would suggest adding more hooks in the bathrooms while changes are being made. On the day of our arrival, we thought the front desk would be open, as the check-in email indicated 9 pm office hours. I fully understand staffing issues, but letting us know prior to our arrival how after-hour check-in works would have been helpful, but we made it even after a 13hr dive in a snow storm! I want to mention, that the staff and this lodge are great. They have recently hired additional staff and they hired some good ones. Everyone was so kind to us, always willing to help. The front desk ladies, gentlemen, and pup were helpful and friendly. The head housekeeper was working long hours, but always asked if I was ok or needed anything, all with a smile on her face! The Maintenace staff again friendly and hard-working, they kept the woodpiles fully stocked every day, Which I really enjoyed. Overall, we would stay at Rainbow Ranch again. It offered us everything we wanted. Friendly, kind staff, clean facilities, remote mountain relaxation, and a place to unwind after snowboarding. We look forward to returning and bringing friends in the future.

We have stayed at the Rainbow Ranch a few times. Our last experience was a relaxing and comfortable one, looking forward to staying again, when they are done with all their renovations. I really loved having a fireplace in our room and being on the Gallatin River. Thank you Scott, Michael & Anna!

This is a glorified roadside dive. Don’t waste your money. I’ve slept in horse stalls that are cleaner. It shames the state we live in. In this day and age you need to be on top of your game and they miss the mark. Your better off staying at a Holiday Inn.

We were booked to stay in the Ermine Suite. As a local who takes weekend getaways monthly I really wanted to be able to give this a 5 star review and add this place to our ‘great places to stay’ list. We checked in and then checked out. Our suite was beyond dirty. When I checked out and I talked to the front desk lady and the Accounting Manager, I told them of my dissatisfaction of the room. The front desk lady let me know that the GM Michael will call me the next day (Wednesday) & ‘I don’t see why he won’t refund your money’. Since that day I have called several times to resolve this, to confirm that they will be refunding my almost $1,200 that they have charged me. I called Wednesday afternoon and left a message for Michael since I wasn’t sure if the front desk told him to contact me as I hadn’t heard from him. Thursday - I left a voicemail message for Scott (owner) to contact me since I hadn’t heard from Michael. Hours later I called again and was told Scott was in Seattle, they didn’t know if he picked ip his messages and that Michael could get me in contact with him. I left another message with the front desk to have Michael call me. I still have not heard back from anyone; Maybe this will get someones attention to do the right thing. I will update if they do. About our room: Sheets & pillowcases didn’t fit. We called for a new fitted sheet so we could remake the bed. The front desk responded with ‘that happens with montana sheets’. Please don’t make excuses, the bed should have been made properly to begin with. Housekeeping should take pride in their work. They are the biggest face of an establishment. One king pillow had one standard pillow case on it with half of the pillow hanging out. Not even two cases to cover the whole pillow which would be totally acceptable. You could see the dirty box spring under the mattress. It was actually disgusting. No decor, the room was basic & could use a slight refresh in painting spots on the wall and caulking holes by the outlets. How about scrubbing the room....there were fingerprints & drip marks on the fridge, the phone didn’t look like it was cleaned in months. I don’t want to get sick! There was only 1 robe. The floors are dirty. You couldn’t even walk on the hardwood floors and put your feet on the bed without getting the bed dirty with floor dirt. The shower door needed a good cleaning. It just wasn’t hard water spots. It was soap drips leftover from the last shower. The fireplaces were not cleaned & had leftover burnt logs in them. It would have been nice if there was more than 2 logs in the inside wood holder. I will say we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to the room and saw an outside fireplace with wood. We were excitedly planning our evening by the outside fire...please note that was before we walked in the room. No tub salts as stated in the room description. We had dinner reservations for each night the restaurant was open that we canceled when we left. I don’t know if I’m more disappointed I’m the room or now the management.
