It's no secret that Paradise Valley is home to some of the most coveted wild trout waters found anywhere in the world. Hubbard's Yellowstone Lodge rightfully tops the list for best-in-class accommodations, guide services, customer service, and reputation within the community. Hubbard's (and the miracle worker that is Nancy) can get you into the most exclusive locations. If you desire an unforgettable trip for all the right reasons, book with Hubbard’s Yellowstone Lodge!

We are booked for next year already. So are our daughter-in-law and son. Water conditions were not great this year due to flooding and snow melt. We caught some outrageous and beautiful fish anyway. I can't imagine a summer without a visit to Hubbard's Yellowstone Lodge.

My adult son and I went there for a week to celebrate milestone birthdays. We had given a lot of thought to selecting somewhere that would provide a special experience we would both enjoy and we made an excellent choice! The location is amazing, the activities are fun, the staff is friendly and attentive, the rooms are comfortable, and Nancy goes out of her way to make sure you get the trip you want. We went riding several time, fishing with a guide who was wonderful about this being our first fishing experience- we both caught fish!- and toured Yellowstone with their guide. I left feeling like I have family in Montana.

I had the BEST time at this ranch the last week of June. I went alone while my husband hiked in Grand Teton, since he is not a rider and I am. I was never uncomfortable as a solo traveler, and it was an amazing week overall. They did a great job accommodating my pescatarian diet (if you are not a big meat eater you should mention it, as the meals tend to be meat-heavy), and my riding ability. The food is very good and plentiful--I am pretty sure I left a couple of pounds heavier! You'll get a lightweight aluminum water bottle upon arrival which you can fill and refill at the water stations in the lodge, and which is perfect to put in a saddle bag. There are also amazing homemade cookies available 24/7 next to the water :) Because it was just me I rode with another couple for two of my five days and we had a great time. My wrangler, Shannon, was fabulous, easy to talk to and knowledgeable. The whole staff here is so friendly and strives to accommodate guests' wishes, and they all seem happy working here. The ranch itself is adorable, clean, well-kept and fun. The bar is great. I have traveled all over the country and the world and this scenery is at the top. I am a rider but most of the riding guests were novices, so don't be nervous! I have also ridden all over the country and the world, and Hubbard's is among my favorites for sure! I adored both horses I rode--Duke and Chief. I hope this place never changes, and I am already trying to figure out when I can go back.

Hubbard’s Yellowstone Ranch is truly a piece of heaven! We had the opportunity to stay at the ranch for three nights and that wasn’t enough. The scenery is beyond beautiful! The lodge overlooks the Yellowstone River and there is a small lake behind the lodge. Nancy and her staff go over and beyond to make sure everyone’s experience is enjoyable and memorable. They all felt like family to us. There is horseback riding, fly fishing and day trips to Yellowstone. We chose to ride horses. The wranglers were wonderful and showed us more beautiful scenery! The food is delicious at the ranch. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared for guests daily. Snacks and homemade cookies are throughout. Our room in another building was great! I highly recommend Hubbard’s. We can’t wait to go back.

This was my second fishing trip out of the Lodge. In September 2018 I made my first trip and was blown away by the experience. No less so this year. Accommodations are great, as is the food and the staff. Fished the lake at the lodge, the Yellowstone River and then two rivers in Yellowstone Park over four days. The guide (James) was great - eager, knowledgeable and patient. I certainly recommend Hubbard's without hesitation.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Hubbard’s Yellowstone Lodge! I’ll start at the beginning. After hearing about Hubbard’s from several different friends, each of whom had visited and had nothing but incredible things to say, we chose Hubbard’s as the destination to celebrate our friend’s 40th birthday. My husband and I traveled there with three other couples. It was the first time in Montana for most of us and we were so excited to be wowed by Big Sky Country. The lodge had scheduled our transportation from the airport. That was our first time meeting one of the amazing staff members that works at Hubbard’s. Upon arrival at the ranch, our expectation of scenery were blown away!! The ranch sits on a hill with an impeccable and expansive view of Paradise Valley and the Yellowstone River. We were blown away! As far as the actual ranch goes, it is family owned by Jim Hubbard and operated by Nancy, Pam, and Mike Hubbard. This family is amazing and I feel so blessed to have met them! They went out of their way to ensure our stay met their standards, which far exceeded our own expectations. There are several structures with a few guest rooms in each building. Our group of four couples had a building to ourselves, which was perfect. The rooms were clean and very nice. Each opened to the outdoors with a cute little patio. The main lodge has all of the indoor/outdoor dining space and a cool bar where guests can gather and hang. Each of our meals both on property and while out on adventures were amazing. We had informed the lodge in advance of dietary restrictions and they went out of their way to ensure everyone full, fat and happy. There are two spots on the ranch that I fell in love with. First was the view of the valley and river from the outdoor patio/fire pit area that I mentioned previously. Frankly, any description I could muster would never do it justice. The second is the deck overlooking the private Orvis rated lake behind the main lodge. I could live at the ranch and never get tired of sitting on this deck and staring at the lake and mountains. It was simply surreal and quickly turned into a favorite gathering spot for our crew. In fact, a few of us did yoga here in the mornings and it was a true highlight for me! Our days were filled with all of the activities one would hope for in Montana, each of which was offered by the lodge and were exceptional! The first full day, we went fly fishing down the Yellowstone River. Each couple had our own guide. The wives weren’t up for a full day, so after we stopped for lunch (which we devoured), we headed back to the lodge and the guys continued down the river. While out there, we enjoyed some of the most amazing landscape and caught a ton of fish. The guides were so great and made sure we all got the hang of it! The next day, we went horseback riding through the stunning hills of the ranch. The property is so big that a half day on horses didn’t even scratch the surface of the property. We were in awe. Mike, our guide, was so cool and made us all feel at ease on the beautiful horses as we explored the countryside. Later that day, we did some impromptu skeet shooting, which I personally fell in love with! I could have done this for hours!! The staff that took us to the designated area on the property were so skillful and knowledgeable that it made it fun and easy to learn, especially for someone like me that has very little experience shooting guns. The last day, we had a guided tour of Yellowstone National Park. I would highly recommend this as well! With the size of our group, we had two cars and guides. Both groups loved their guides and appreciated their knowledge and suggestions as we made our way through the park. It was totally worth having them lead the way! I meant it, I really can’t say enough positive things about Hubbard’s Yellowstone Lodge. The family, staff, accommodations, meals, adventures, etc. are exceptional. The only downside is that the trip eventually comes to an end and they expect you to leave, which none of us wanted to do! If you are in the market for a beautiful, quiet, enjoyable trip where you want to have world class adventures during the day, and slow down, sit by a fire pit and enjoy the scenery by night, this is 100% the place for you!

I had the privilege of traveling to Hubbard's Lodge this past June with my wife and three other couples. We all have personal friends that have stayed at the Lodge in the past so it came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! Having never traveled to Montana, my expectations were reasonable. Upon landing at the airport, being picked up by a staff member, and driving up the ridge to the Lodge, my expectations were immediately exceeded and I felt as if I were in a little slice of Heaven. The scenery and views were nothing short of spectacular. Our group did all the activities which the Lodge offered; a guided trip to Yellowstone, horse back riding, skeet shooting, and fly fishing. We inquired about the accommodations in advance to understand how things worked. A few tricks: Have the Lodge order your snacks and alcohol in advance. They will pick them up for you and will be waiting in your room. I forgot cigars and wouldn't you know it, they showed up the next day after politely asking a staff member if they could make a special trip into town. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and the bears were nonexistent. Apparently, they like to come later in the year when they've run out of food at Yellowstone. This is a tip from the staff. My experience was so wonderful that I volunteered to come back in August to work a week long corporate event for free. No joke. The owner needed a replacement and I immediately asked how I could get back and be a part of the team. Unfortunately for me, they found a permanent solution right away. It's that special of a place. If you're not into all the outdoor activities, the views of either the canyon or the fresh water lake will be more than enough to find yourself getting lost in this magical place. Hubbard's Lodge is worth the investment and a great place to relax. Montana is a beautiful state to see and I am looking forward to future trips to Hubbard's Lodge.

Having just read the somewhat poor review from a June visitor, I feel he must be living an alternate universe than me. My family of five (three boys in their 20s) stayed four nights at Hubbard's Yellowstone Lodge in July and it was FABULOUS. We had no prior experience in or around the Yellowstone area - and we had a ball. We fished right there at the Lodge's lake, we did trap shooting and rode horses on the ranch (we are neophyte horseback riding people but this was the best riding experience we have ever had), we did white water river rafting nearby the ranch and we did some awesome hikes in the National Forest adjacent the ranch. The food was great for every meal and Matt, the Lodge's Executive chef, intermingled with the guests every day. (One night it was walleye, another night beef wellington, then BBQ ribs - all fabulous!) The ranch is family owned and operated and it feels that way. I found the family totally engaged - Nancy was very friendly and helpful in setting up our lodge and activity reservations (including being very accommodating when we had to shift plans a month before the trip!). We were introduced to Jim Hubbard, the founder and patriarch, as soon as we arrived and we interfaced with him, along with his son, daughters and grandchildren all week. The whole staff was fantastic. They encouraged the visitors to get to know each other, which added to the family atmosphere. The facility is in great condition, a wonderful feat given it is so isolated. It's not 5 stars NYC Ritz Carlton (yes there is no A/C in the rooms) but it was very nice, extremely clean and very appropriate for a western lodge in the middle of National Park landscapes. The lodge is at about 6,000 to 7,000 feet of elevation so even when we had 90 degree weather on our river rafting trip, when we got back to the Lodge that evening the temperature was perfect. The views were spectacular and the night sky incredible (especially for a So Cal family). There was excellent wifi and phone service, though the beautiful and relaxing setting made you want to throw your iPhone into the lake. I highly recommend Hubbard's Yellowstone Lodge.

I’m always dubious of a business that only has 5-star reviews. It typically means that 1) the business is too new or 2) the business is only having friends and family submit reviews. Hubbard’s has been around since the ’70s, before the internet was even a thing, so they are not new. I wanted to provide an honest review for those considering going to Hubbards. I wish I would have read a review like this before I went. The Good The ranch is situated between the mountains overlooking the Yellowstone River. The views are stunning and photographs don’t do them justice. The guides are great, filled with amazing stories. Don’t go to Yellowstone National Park without a guide. You will regret it. The Bad The staff is friendly, but the management seemed disinterested. The accommodations are okay. They are not “first-class” as the website promotes. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms so be aware of the time of year that you go. We were there in late June and the daytime temps reached into the high 80s. The room would eventually cool off late at night, but it was quite warm during the day/evening. The activities are fun but overpriced. On top of the extraordinary rates that Hubbard’s charges to fish, ride, tour, you are expected to tip your guide another $100/day. The guides themselves are actually really cool and they were one of my favorite parts (see above). Just make sure you bring plenty of cash. The Ugly The food is not good. Admittedly, I have a vegetarian diet, but even the meat-eating friends that we traveled with found the food unenjoyable. The website promotes a “professional chef” yet we never actually met the “chef.” I have been to plenty of hotels, restaurants, and resorts where the actual chef will come out to meet the guests and more importantly talk to those with special dietary restrictions. That did not happen with us. The website further promotes that “[Hubbard’s] is happy to provide vegetarian meals and to accommodate any special nutritional requests.” To be fair, we were asked by one of the managers at check-in about our vegetarian diets and about our friend who simply wanted meat and potatoes. Not one of the meals that followed over the next four days met our requests. The joke that was the food hit its peak when they served us a microwavable frozen pizza. Not kidding. This ranch is expensive. At over $500/night, it's reasonable to expect better food. Hubbard's also limits the ages of children to those 12 and older. For some unknown reason, a family with 4 to 6 kids under the age of 12 showed up the day after we checked in. Those kids were there the entire weekend with us. I have no problem with kids. I have my own kids. However, when you go to the website and the first thing the ranch says is that Hubbard’s is “an upscale ranch…for adults and children over the age of 12,” you don’t expect to have kids running around. Hubbard’s is a 3-star guest ranch. There are some neat things about the ranch but there are a lot of deficiencies that they need to clean up to become a 5-star experience. Pro tips: • Stop in Livingston before you get to the ranch to buy your own food, snacks, and drinks. NOTE: the bar does not have liquor if you are looking for that. • Pay attention to the weather for the time of year you plan to go. • Bring plenty of cash for tipping. • Be really specific if you have any food requests and then have limited expectations on what you will be served. • If you have kids under 12, call the ranch to see if you can bring them. Apparently, they allow others to do it. • Get off the ranch as much as possible. There are some really cool places to go explore off of the property.
