We booked this hotel as it was the only reasonably-priced accommodation near to Yellowstone still available over the Labor Day weekend, so our expectations were not high. It was really good! The room was large and very comfortable, we had a large walk-in shower, a ceiling fan (which was much quieter than AC) and there was lots of storage space.... More

Really impressed with the Soda Bute lodge. For a budget option the rooms and service were excellent. It's also in a great location to explore north Yellowstone - especially wildlife in Lemar valley. I had lots of success finding bears around Mount Washborn and Dunraven pass.

We stayed one night. The staff were very friendly. Our room was large, and we had a wonderful view of the mountains. The 'lodge' has a large lobby area, a bar and a restaurant. We ate breakfast on site, and it was very good.

We had to book our hotel far outside of the main Yellowstone attractions to get a decent price. This was a typical small town hotel with a rustic country look. The doors creaked, was not set properly so the top stuck, and the hall light shown through the cracks. The bed was tolerable, but I never could figure out if... More

Very mediocre motel/hotel. Its location is its only real draw. Rooms were noisy from second floor and wall noises from bathroom area made for not so good a sleep. Rooms were clean but no refrigerator or microwave and NO coffee in room. If you choose to stay, remember it's for it location to Yellowstone NP.

We decided very last minute to add on to our vacation a visit to Yellowstone. Due to this all of the reasonably priced lodging on the southwest side of the park was already booked so we found this place that was within our price range. We realized that it was about a 3 hour drive one way from the north... More

We stayed at Soda Butte Lodge Aug. 2-6, 2016. We planned to see Yellowstone National Park, and accommodations in the park were full. We chose Soda Butte because it was only 4 miles from the NE entrance to Yellowstone, the price was very reasonable, and the other tripadvisor reviews said it was very clean. They were right. Although the lodge... More

Drove from Cody to here stopping to make many photos in Y'stone. Be aware this is an older, small mountain town and there is no cell phone service, but there is internet service. Just keep in mind that this isn't Napa Valley. The hotel-- Two story and no elevator if you have lots of luggage. Nobody to help with luggage.... More

Rooms are clean and it's a great hotel. Only thing is they have no a/c and not all rooms have fans. Makes for a toasty arrival until the windows are open long enough to cool it off. The food in the restaurant was very good too. I enjoyed the stay here

This motel is situated high in a mountain town with a population of about 100. Cooke city is a small turist town at Yellowstone Park north east entrance. Soda butte lodge has nice accomodations and a price lower than others. There is a nice lounge and resteraunt in the motel. The views from anywhere are something to take in, in... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cooke City is situated in the Beartooth Absaroka mountains. Accessible via Montana Hwy 212 Beartooth Scenic Highway, Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy 296 and Yellowstone National Park. Soda Butte Lodge is located on Main Street in the center of town. Our 32 guest rooms are located on two floors of the motel. We are also, the only full service motel in Cooke City with 3-meal restaurant and sports bar full liquor. The large lobby is a great place to relax, by the fireplace or by the windows to "people watch", play cards, read or visit with friends. We are just 3 1/2 miles from the north east entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the infamous Lamar Valley where "wolf watching" is very popular. The area is ideal for wildlife viewing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling and many photo-ops. Winter in Cooke City is unlike no other. Extreme snowmobiling, snowboarding and cross country skiing at its' finest. Winter, the lodge, is only accessible through Yellowstone Park (Mammoth) or drive over Chief Joseph to Pilot Creek parking lot and snowmobile in the last 9 miles. Our area is rich in the things money can't buy: history, beauty, wildlife and hospitality. ... more   less
