    Great Stay
We stayed for two nights in July 2023 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We were initially concerned when we heard the property had changed hands but not to worry! Sonia is an amazing host and we marvelled at her energy (and her breakfasts!). We'll be returning!

    A welcome spot of serenity!
This beautiful manor on a private golf course in downtown Butte (close to the cemetery where Evel Knievel is buried - yes, you better know that if you're talking to a local!) is a gem! Whatever your opinion of Butte (my husband and I found much to photograph, learn and enjoy about this very unique city) you will find this B&B to be a wonderful and restful place to spend the night. The house is beautiful. The upper and lower great rooms are serene spots to enjoy the beautiful view over the gold course to the mountains, the elegant furnishings and the copious books. The theme is Wind in the Willows (of course), so if that's not your thing you may not enjoy the attention to this theme, but it was very charming and fun for us (being Brits!) and the rooms were spotlessly clean and charmingly furnished. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets and bath towels were of the highest quality. If you forget a general toiletry item, they'll provide it as a complimentary item but the usual shampoo, conditioner, soap etc. are in the bathroom of course. Our room opened onto our own private courtyard next to the golf course! The rooms are not in the basement (the floor of a building which is partly or entirely below ground level) as one reviewer mentioned, they're on the lower level of the house that opens onto the golf course! The main level of the house has an open plan kitchen, dining area and veranda overlooking the golf course and the mountains. A beautiful spot to enjoy the delicious breakfast. My favorite things: the view from the B&B, the caring attention to decor and cleanliness, the scone and tea or coffee dropped off to your room before breakfast (I've never had a better scone and I know a thing or two about scones!) and the choice of breakfast times. I have no idea why some reviewers thought it was a negative to be asked what time they wanted breakfast. I guess they haven't been to a lot of B&B's! We only stay at B&B's here and in other countries and usually you're given only one set hour for breakfast (usually at an annoyingly late time for us) or (particularly in the U.K.) given a two hour window and asked to pick a time to eat. This allows people to enjoy a less crowded dining experience or to get out and about early or sleep in and enjoy a later breakfast as they wish. We found it a very welcome courtesy that we wish other B&B's would offer. Glen and Jane are the consummate hosts. Glen greets you at the door with an offer of a drink and attends to every possible need. He (and the lovely Jane) want you to feel utterly at home and truly care about your enjoyment of your stay. As mentioned, we always stay at B&B's and it's our experience that some owners have a remote approach to their guests, some are friendly, some are chatty and some are a little cool; just like all of us. Glen is attentive, talkative and likes to engage his guests in banter; if that's not your style, you don't have to engage but his family have lived in Butte for generations so if you want to learn about this fascinating city and it's people and history from a native son, you probably can't do better!

    Best Ever B&B
Toad Hall looked very charming and welcoming on Trip Advisor and from my pre-visit contact with owner, Glen Johnson (Mr. Toad), but nothing could have prepared us for the extreme hospitality, lovely room, excellent food, and plain fun at Toad Hall. We stayed in the bright Papa Otter room with its outdoor patio. We felt so welcomed from the moment we arrived. As we had the misfortune of destroying a tire on the curb on our way to dinner, Mr. Toad came to our complete rescue - driving us to and from our dinner appointment, arranging for someone to come and change the tire, and the next morning coming with us to the tire store and taking us on a guided tour of historical Butte while waiting on the tire change. Mr. Toad and Lili (Jane) just toadally (as Glen would most likely say) overwhelmed us with kindness. And also with wonderful food - starting with the early delivery of juice and a warm scone at our door and ending with a gourmet breakfast of freshly prepared fruit and homemade egg strudel with a carrot cake muffin and hot coffee. Splendid! Our accommodations showed great attention to detail with lovely furnishings, fine towels and amenities in the bathroom, and beautiful teal robes with slippers to match. The whole experience astonished and overwhelmed us, leaving us quite indebted and very grateful to such wonderful hosts! This is a destination not to be missed if you travel to Butte.

We had a delightful stay at Toad Hall/Tuscany on the Green. The decorating in our room and the common area are lovely - a slice of Italy - and the breakfast was amazing. Sonia and Bill made us feel so welcome.

In January 2023 I made a reservation for September 2023. Apparently since I made my reservation, the inn has sold to new management. I never received an email mentioning any change in management or any change in rates. I discovered these changes when I received my credit card bill yesterday. In July they used my credit card on file to bill me for my upcoming reservation. This would have been fine except I never received an email receipt when the charge was made and the amount charged was higher than my confirmed reservation. I contacted Toad Hall and was told they changed management and would not honor the price that was confirmed when I made the reservation last January. I found this surprising and to be honest, poor business practice. I cancelled the reservation. Not sure if they will fill the three out of four empty rooms they now have on that night, but I guess it’s worth the risk to them in order to try and make the extra $60 on what was to be my room.

We wanted a different experience rather than a traditional hotel and wow did we find it! Everything from the comfort and elegance of our room to the amenities in the rest of the house. It felt like home away from home. Our gourmet breakfast was amazing as was the company and conversation with others guests. Would have loved to stay longer and will definitely be stopping here again just to experience the wonderful hospitality. Thank you to Sonia and family!
