We had a Sunday lunch at the Brown Cow. It was lovely, and the home-made sticky gingerbread, for just £2 extra, was superb. Very friendly surroundings. Has changed hands recently and new managers Natasha and Gavin made everyone feel at home.

We had a wonderful three day stay at the Brown Cow in beautiful Waberthwaite. Couldn't fault it! The rooms were comfy, the food fantastic (and generous too). Possibly the best 'Full English' in Cumbria!. We'd like to say a huge 'thanks' to Natasha, Gavin and all the family for making us feel so welcome. Didn't want to leave, well worth... More

Good traditional pub grub at very reasonable prices. Family run under new management. Makes a nice change to find you're being served by the owner and family instead of anonymous staff . Nice beer garden and ample parking. Will go again without a doubt.

Great food, family friendly and very welcoming place. Food nice, with a variety for everyone. Recommend booking on Fridays and Saturdays as the place can get busy at times. Bonus is kids eat free with each adult meal. Most definitely will return.

I came with my dad, rooms clean with everything you need, food great, fish and chips best we'd had, breakfasts wonderful. Staff very friendly, good value. Room at front is on the road if you are a light sleeper you might want to ask for one at the back. Lovely spot, would definitely return and recommend.

Most people don't visit the western side of the Lake District. They should, you have the mountain scenery and the coast looking over to the Isle of Man. The Brown Cow on the main road A595 is very welcoming, only a few rooms but clean and tidy. It's also a pub that serves real ale and very good food. The... More

We called in the Brown Cow on a Sunday evening for dinner after a long journey. The pub was quiet and tour food was served quickly, it was good quality and plentiful. There was a good selection of beers available.

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch without travelling too far and as we had passed the Brown Cow a couple of times whilst here on holiday, decided to give it a whirl. Good job we did as the food was fresh, quickly served, plenty of it and all at sensible prices. Furthermore, the presentation was very good together... More

10 of us were staying locally and decided to visit the Brown Cow as it was a nice walk and gave us time to build an appetite. There was a good menu and the portions were massive! Food came out in a timely manner and at around £12 for lunch was very reasonable. We then proceeded to drink the bar... More
