My family and I had a free weekend from travel softball so we we decided to go to Six Flags and go to a Cardinals/Diamondbacks game. We usually stay at the Westin but it was not available so we booked something with our Marriott points. We came across this hotel. The pictures looked nice but were deceiving. The lobby is updated but the rooms are not and the are dirty. The bathrooms are not clean, the hallways have not been vacuumed, and the room smells like BO!!! I would never stay here again! In fact, I wanted to to check out and find a different hotel but my family stalked me out of it. Marriott you need to get with the program and make your hotels clean and desirable to stay in like Starwood properties!!!

Stayed for 4 days for a conference. Conference was downtown but all downtown Marriott group hotels were either sold out, or out of policy. Knew it was a bit of a trek to downtown, but it was actually a very walkable route. The electric scooters helped for when I didn't feel like walking. The hotel is close to several pubs and breweries, which was great after days spent at the conference. The hotel was great with my elite benefits. Got upgraded to a very nice suite despite arriving very late in the day. Hotel bistro was nice for a mid tier hotel. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Decor was a bit faded everywhere, but everything was clean. The bed was super comfortable. I wish there had been a safe in my room, and that the AC units weren't so loud, though. Had to turn them off every night before going to bed. I'm still not 100% sure how the breakfast was meant to work. I booked a breakfast included rate, but first I didn't show up in the system as having breakfast included, then I wasn't actually sure whether I was charged what I had for breakfast. The whole set up was a bit weird. I was expecting a continental breakfast buffet, but there was nothing of the sort. You had to order at the counter, and there was very little I actually wanted to eat. As a result, I only had breakfast one day. The above was really my only complaint. Everything else was good about the stay, and I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel, or to return.

Good location for downtown access and Forest Park. Rooms are clean but hallways are dated and grungy. Rooms seem dated but were clean. Staff is friendly but not articulate. Reasonable parking. Odd layout for building.

The staff at the Courtyard are extremely nice and welcoming. Unfortunately the hotel is in much need of a complete overhaul. It's an old property to begin with and the decor is dated and depressing. Not a place I would recommend for business travelers; possibly families with children it may suffice. Also located too far from restaurants and the downtown.

Thank you for your feedback. The hotel will be renovated early next year and there are new restaurants opening in Union Station a few blocks away soon as well.

Marriott West in STL was chosen as our central location for a long weekend meet-up for our group. There was a dozen of us overall and none of us had stayed here before. I mean, hey....It's Marriott, right?!? First off, let me say everyone there was very friendly and superbly professional. Their staff was good. Secondly, I did NOT complain or bring up Marriotts shortcomings to management while there....I was with friends and families..wasn't the time or place. That said, my room had no microwave or refrigerator. Basic stuff any roadside no-tell-motel carries. The TV was stuck on one channel. The water was over-treated with bleach, undrinkable, certainly not good for rinsing after brushing you teeth, and out of the shower, you will smell like you wiped yourself with bleach-wipes. Since my group spent most of our time just catching up, we spent a lot of time at the hotel.....meaning the bar. Their bar was adequately stocked, but defiantly 'hotel-overpriced'. Although the bartender was quick to help/serve you, that was only while he/she was around. I think they had other responsibilities than just their guests. Finally, the restaurant. They did a rather 'ok' breakfast, but that was their best meal of the day. Even their house pizza made you wish for Domino's instead. It seemed like on some menu items, they tried WAY too hard, and other items, not hard enough. Shop around, This Marriott needs some time to get their act together.
