Amazing facility with lots of character, charm, history and amenities. Stayed here while attending conference, had everything you could want. Lots to do with shops located. Early, easy pedestrian access to local attractions. Take time to explore Union station with all it has to offer. Staff is very friendly and attentive, nice fitness center too. Enjoy.
We live 5 hours from STL and have never stayed at this hotel let alone knew what an experience our stay here would be. First off it is in the old Union Station which used to see 100,000 people through the station every day in the 1940's. They have kept and restored all the most spectacular parts of thus hotel from the ornate and detailed art in the massive lobby to the old elevator and all the angles of the lobby, The lobby bar is wonderful and the light show inside the lobby every evening is a show worth watching! the outdoor area behind the pool is the old Union STation with a private entrance to the Aquarium and the ferris wheel and carousel. IT is fun for the entire family and the light and fire show on the water every night is another brilliant show. SO worth the money and a great family trip!…
Came for one night while visiting colleges with daughter. Lobby was closed for a wedding reception which we weren’t notified about (the iconic restaurant lobby they market themselves around). In addition, staff was short-handed due to wedding reception and couldn’t clean rooms fast enough, so couldn’t check in guests fast enough. It was surreal - while wedding guests were walking by smiling and having fun, myself and other guests were standing in long, winding line for 45 mins just to get to front desk. Once there we were told our rooms weren’t ready. Staff was unapologetic and fairly indifferent. Diamond status didn’t help. So we were told to wait. The hallway was cluttered with people and luggage as though the airport had just closed. Finally, we were able to check in. At 9p. And yet the room still wasn’t cleaned. I used 50,000 points for this room and I know many paid $3-400. During my check out at 4:30a - that’s right, I stayed for a whopping 7 hours - I noted my disappointment to the lone front desk staff who stared at me blankly. I also wrote a note to Hilton that went unanswered. I guess poor service and high prices are the new norm.…
Our son was married in St. Louis last weekend and the reception was held in the Grand Hall of the hotel. It was an incredible place for the event. Mark Ball and his staff do a great job of transforming the area into a beautiful reception hall. Most of the attendees stayed at the hotel and enjoyed their rooms. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Randy the greatest bellman ever. He and the rest of the bellmen were there to help with anything you needed and to gladly tell of the history of Union Station. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The hotel is large and the number of rooms does make it feel like a maze sometimes. My suggestion would be to ask for a room in the 3000s so you are on the main floor and don't have to ride elevators up or down. The onsite restaurant has a great buffett.…
We had a great trip on this family vacation.. Everything was right there on the one property perione property. The aquarium and restaurants and an ice cream shop as well as things for the kids to do like a carousel and a fair swell and Mini golf. There were restaurants on the property as well that serve amazing food There were restaurants on the property as well that serve amazing food
It was just a room in a huge station. The bar area was beautiful with a light show every hour, but otherwise the amenities were minimal. No extra water, nor free breakfast as many Hiltons include. You pay $$$ for parking every evening, but we found that we could walk to the Arch. It was a mile and a half stroll, but well worth it! The continental breakfast bar disappointed for $15. not even yogurt on it! This was definitely just a money maker of a hotel. I'd not stay here again.
As some people have mentioned, I found the staff to be very friendly. I enjoyed conversations with the bellmen and front desk staff alike. I booked a room type that I wanted for a conference. Arriving late at night, my room immediately smelt musty. I attempted to open the window to air it out and noticed black mold all the way around thew window. It was late and I tried to put up with it. I simply couldn't and phoned the front desk. Long story short, I was downgraded for the night with a promise to make it right the next day. The second room, while not musty and no mold, was on par with a cheap Holiday Inn. I will commend the staff because the following day the notes were in my account and I was moved to the clock tower side of the hotel. That room was exquisite and much more up to par. Long story short. The staff is great but make sure you are in the clock tower side.…
I have stayed here many times. The present staff are not what they were. Valet parking at 45 a night. They lost my car keys and it took 1 1/2 hours to get my car out. Attempted to check in early and front desk was very unfriendly
Charged my credit card for valet parking and a mysterious $98 charge days after I checked out and settled my bill. Manager couldn’t explain why I was charged. Room was very dusty but the view was good.
We stayed in this hotel this weekend for a wedding we were attending. The lobby (where the wedding was) and the whole exterior of the hotel is amazing. My 8 year old said she felt like she was on the Titanic. So much to do in the building without ever having to go outside. The staff our whole stay was very friendly and accommodated us well. Items I asked for were sent to our room promptly. The Starbucks on site is convenient and has a few snack options as well as a couple sandwiches. We did not try the Station Grille restaurant, but did eat at the Train Shed which was very good. I’d say the only let down was the room. While we didn’t have cleanliness issues, the room feels so drab and out of place in this lovely hotel. The pictures we saw online showed charming, well decorated rooms and ours was just a very boring, standard hotel room. We apparently stayed in the wrong area of the building, in an executive suite. I wish when booking we were able to see the room options. However, the bed was comfortable, the one night our kids stayed with us they said the pull out was comfortable, and the space and storage was adequate. All in all, we would stay here again if we got a different room!…
