Old school type hostel. Nice staff, clean, but rough.. If you've only ever stayed in clinical modern hostels or hotels, then this might not be for you. I liked it. Its also in a really nice area. Good food and bars close by

Lovely visit. After a sleepless night on planes and buses from the Balitmore hostel, it was a warm safe friendly place to stay the night before continuing my journey. January is the off season and I was the only guest. It was clean, although I was able to find 20 minutes of cleaning to do, because that's part of hosteling... More

Saying "it's a hostel" doesn't justify the fact that the accommodations are disgusting and the service is terrible. Soulard is a great neighborhood and this location has a lot of promise. It's a shame that the only hostel in the area is a dilapidated mess. I've stayed in hostels all over the world and this is by far the worst.... More

saw one review saying it is in a shady neighbourhood, they obviously never went outside! soulard even ranks no.2 in the list of best st louis areas. It's quaint, w/ nice brownstones, cute restaurants and friendly bars and a very nice little supermarket and also 2 buslines to bring you downtown in about 10 minutes. The hostel is comfortable, and... More

Doesn't reflect the quality of other reviews because it is a hostel... Rated as a hostel -not hotel. Know the people that run it. It is maintained the best it can be (manager is good, owner is, well, not very helpful to his staff). If you need a cheap place to stay and are adventurous. Not recommended for people with... More

My girlfriend and I stayed three night sat Huck Finn (meant to be two but weather forced another day) while we were doing a cross country bicycle tour. When we arrived we were quickly checked in and shown our quarters, and having just ridden 50 miles through thunderstorms we were grateful to be able to grab nice warm showers asap.... More

I stayed at the Huck Finn Youth Hostel while attending a Conference at the Union Station Hotel downtown. I am so happy with my choice to stay at the hostel. At $25 a night, it is far cheaper than anything else in the city and provides a nice place to stay. Typical bunk beds that you'd expect in a dorm.... More

The hostel, which is located in a neighborhood about a mile south of the train station, is located in a fairly shady neighborhood in St. Louis. The service is fairly non-existent by design - I had to call someone to get let in, and after that, I never saw any staff at the place. This would ordinarily be fine, except... More

I was there for one night and for most of the time I was the only people there. The staff member was rude and not helpful. The Wi FI was sporadic at best and the common room was freezing and heated with a single space heater. It would explain why no one was in the common rooms. I have stayed... More

This place is by no means the fanciest, but as a poor student this fit the bill for my stay in Saint Louis. This hostel is cheap and (relatively) cheerful - the staff were relaxed and the bathrooms were clean. The kitchen facilities were fine and although a bit run down the place overall served its purpose. The lockers were... More
