My wife and celebrated our 40th anniversary here and of course we’re the youngest couple! Not really. A delightful room was the Mary Todd Lincoln room with its king size bed and hot tub. Ample space and private balcony. It is a bit noisy because of Interstate 55 runs nearby but the miles of hiking trails and bike trails can offset that.
If you believe the high ratings this place gets you will regret it once you're here. The building looks great from the outside. The staff werent here when we arrived and they failed to send the door code they had promised. We were able to get in by calling the owner whose phone number was posted by the front door. The room is extremely small and management has contrived to make it even smaller by filling every surface with knickknacks. You can shut off the a/c,but you cant direct the stream of frigid air anywhere but toward your bed. One of the vent handles was broken,so you couldnt just shut the outgoing air vents. There is a constant high whine in the room that sounds like somebody has left a hose running somewhere. Fortunately for us we always travel with earplugs and I left them in my ears this morning while I type this so I wont be distracted. There's no space for your luggage or anything else in the room so expect to leave that on the floor. All the lights are extremely bright so if you expect to read in bed, your partner better be reading also. The bed is too soft and I awoke with a back ache. There is literally barely room for two people to move around in the room. Even the floor has a variety of gewgaws on it like an old iron that get under your feet and make the three step passage from one side of the room to the other as difficult as possible. It's hard to believe that the room design could have been done as poorly as it is. You will regret your stay here.…
This Lodge was very comfortable and homey. It has nine themed rooms, most with queen beds. We stayed in the Mary Todd Lincoln room, which had a 2-person jacuzzi. The room was unique and well decorated. Your stay includes a wonderful full breakfast. We would definitely recommend this Lodge and are already planning to go back.
Spent the night here for our 12th Anniversary. We stayed in the Washington Room. Clean with cute decor. Jacuzzi tub was great. Only thing missing for us was a mini fridge for our drinks. Breakfast was awesome! Just beware if you sit by the fire, Mr. Moose as I named him, will watch you eat the whole time, lol. We also got to watch a wedding from our balcony! Overall, great experience.
Had a wonderful couple of nights in St Louis! Great location right off the highway but very QUIET! Fabulous breakfast and helpful staff. We would drive back to St Louis just to stay here again! Great place!
