The view was intoxicating, the halls and rooms lined with beautiful artwork, amazing lobby, delightful and friendly staff, easy walk to pubs, museums and SLU. Definitely the place to stay for short term university visits.

My wife an I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past when attending concerts and events downtown. The lack of cleanliness and overall wear and tear on the rooms is clearly showing. The sheets and pillowcases were stained, the furniture lamination was coming off, the walls were in desperate need of paint, and the hallway floor had pistachio nut shells all over the place when we arrived and when we left. How can the staff walk by this for a complete day and not notice? The location of the hotel is excellent, but unfortunately the old charm has passed it by.

This is a small but very comfortable boutique hotel with a very convenient location. I was leaving early in the morning to go to the St. Louis Gateway Station to catch an Amtrak train and found this just as convenient in terms of location as a downtown hotel. Since my train was leaving early (4:35AM!) I was concerned to make arrangements with the front desk for a taxi to pick me up at 3:45AM. They performed magnificently. I came down about 5 minutes early and there was my cab waiting. It was a short ride to the station where I made my train with plenty of time to spare. The hotel room was clean and well appointed. It was very modern and sleek - very 21st century! The bed was extremely comfortable. They have Tempur-Pedic mattresses which I love because my back sleeps so much better! I did find the bed squeeked a little when I sat down or got up - but that is a knit and certainly didn't affect my sleep. The bedding was very comfortable. I found that my CPAP machine had plenty of space and power to make my sleeping experience pleasant. I slept well - what little time I had to sleep due to my scheduling. The hotel is good for sleeping. I already commented about the beds. However, there was no sounds during the night and I appreciated the quiet. Since the most important element is the sleep, this really impresses me favorably. I liked the rain shower head in the bathroom. It was very comfortable showering, The bathroom has a pocket door. The lighting in the bathroom is very convenient and easy to control. The location of the hotel is interesting and eclectic. It is near the university and Catholic Cathedral. It is subtle in its location. I would almost say low key, but it suited me nicely. I found the visit pleasant and will plan on returning. It is convenient to so many things and has a great modern feel. It is a good choice for St. Louis. I recommend it.

The cute boutique hotel is very functional, but I would think that they would like more than functional. This is my 3rd stay while traveling thru the town and both other stays were fantastic. We had room 212. Upon entering, there was a celaphane wrapper on the window sill, dried food stuck on the counter, which I cleaned and I also wiped up some yellow drips on bathroom floor. Ick. Then, you start wondering how clean everything is. The positives: Room 212 is a nice size, great window, love having a refrigerator, comfortable bed and pillows, great linen weight, and very friendly check-in. Great shower.

Had a staycation for my girlfriend's birthday after we had to cancel a weekend in Chicago. Chose a suite at this hotel for the jetted tub and fireplace. The location is excellent with SLU directly across the street, Fox Theater and Powell Hall within easy walking distance and numerous restaurants nearby. Let me begin by saying that the stay was nice, but did not live up to expectations nor the level of a 4-Diamond hotel. The large TV in the living room portion of the suite tiled so badly on the local channels that I had to watch TV in the bedroom. There was no remote control to turn on the TV in the mirror in the bathroom. There were a plethora of towels, but all were equally worn, not plush. And there were no bathrobes. After attending the Symphony, we came back to enjoy the remainder of the evening in front of the fireplace. Unfortunately, that did not work either. I called the front desk, the clerk came up and could not get it to work. She also stated she didn't know why there was not a remote control for the TV in the bathroom mirror, but there should be one. The following morning I also discovered that the wall remote control for the shade in the living room window did not operate correctly. It was either all the way up or all the way down. The clerk at checkout advised that they had reduced the bill by $60 for the inconvenience of the fireplace not working, but I explained to her that it is difficult to put a value on this, as the fireplace was the reason we chose to stay at this hotel. After I had left the hotel I looked at the bill and realized that they had not taken off $60, but removed the tax, which was less than $60. To the hotel's credit, they did issue an additional credit to my credit card a day later. The Hotel Ignacio is obviously very proud of its 4-Diamond rating, they have the plaques displayed prominently in the lobby. But based upon my stay, I would not rate this hotel that highly and would not recommend this hotel to my friends.
