We had the pleasure of staying at Boone's Lick Trail Inn on our final night on the Katy trail. It was a last minute decision to get a room (we didn't want to camp in the cold that was forecasted!) and Venetia, the innkeeper, managed to squeeze us in and make us feel more like family than guests! She was on top of prompt communication and making sure our needs were met! She went out of her way to be sure we had everything we needed and to help us get things lined up for our stay in St. Charles...from a safe place to store our bikes to all the highlights to hit in the Historic District. The house and rooms were so clean, comfortable, and well stocked...and we loved the history of the inn. Definitely plan to return and stay again!

I have stayed at Boones Colonial Inn but it was not available for the dates we wanted. I called about the sister property Boones Lick Inn. Asked about a couple of rooms and decided on the suite that faced the Main Street. I was quoted (as my wife listened). $225.00 per night Friday and Saturday with Sunday being less. My wife heard this and I wrote it down. Later that I checked email I found the confirmation and printed it. When I checked the printed confirmation it showed $325.00 per night Friday and Saturday. I called the person I had dealt with and they had the owner call me back. I was told straight out that I was wrong and was not quoted that amount for that room. No appeasement but simply I was wrong. I was asked if I wanted to cancel and I said yes.

This will be our go-to place whenever we drive through Missouri. I'd go out of my way to stay here. We stayed in the "Cottage Suite," and while it was a touch pricey, from our point of view, it was worth every penny. It was spotlessly clean and so thoughtfully furnished. Nothing was overlooked. There were two luggage racks. a coffee machine, water, snacks...even an umbrella. We ordered the optional tapas which was there when we arrived...and delicious. Parking was private and safe. The bed was very comfy, as was the living room area. The bathroom was huge....positively luxurious, with a wonderful big tub and a walk-in shower that had three shower heads. Our little front porch had a lovely table and chairs for our use, though the weather didn't accommodate. Beautiful artwork for our enjoyment and a lovely historical neighborhood all around us. The staff was so friendly and kind. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to return!

Awful rooms and tasteless decor. The whole experience was not worth the money we spent. Everything from the staff to owners were very unpleasant. Zero stars and definitely will not be coming back here

Read all the reviews and was surprised of the quality of room I got for $254.00. It was very old with very few updates. I guess my biggest complaint would be the bath. The tub was very old and scared up. The baths as a whole was very small. This is a building right out of the 40’s and it showed it. The price includes breakfast and I don’t know what I expected but it was pretty sparse. Just a few pastries and some sausage. Left me pretty hungry. If your looking for old world charm and are not concerned about amenities then this is the place for you

We really enjoyed our visit at this Inn. Linda checked us in and we felt welcome and at home right away. She has a wonderful sense of humor and took time to show us what rooms were available to let us pick which worked for us. The room was welcoming and the bed was very comfortable. In between shopping and exploring we spent time on the balcony in front of our room... reading, napping and enjoying the hustle and bustle of action below us. Breakfast!!! Linda put out such a spread for us. It was so charming and absolutely delicious!! We also enjoyed her stories and truly truly wonderful personality. When we return to St. Charles, this will be our go to place.... for the great location, comfortable clean room, enjoyable balcony and Linda and her breakfast!

Such a cute historic inn. We stayed in the king room w/ an extra twin bed upstairs- it was perfect for my daughter's and myself. We had our own parking space right by the front door and enjoyed a home cooked breakfast - what a treat! The location was so close to all of the cute outside restaurants and shops.

Room has vaulted ceiling and wood flooring. (Floor squeaks but it didn't bother me nor did I hear any other guests during my stay. Rooms are far enough apart to provide a natural sound barrier.) We had the room at the very top of the building. In winter, you will get the best views of the Missouri River. There's a small deck where two people can stand and enjoy a cup of coffee. The river would be best viewed after the leaves have fallen from the trees. The upper room is also the warmest room in the place--another good reason to visit in winter although any time would be fun. The location is superb. There are two restaurants on the same block as the inn. Visitors don't have to be worried about parking. You can just leave the car at the inn and walk the entire main street. There's also shortcuts to Frontier Park, the historic railway depot, etc. Be aware that almost 1/2 the shops are closed on Monday. That would be a good day to do the Katy Trail. Again, the inn is within easy walking distance of the Katy Trail. The attic room has a ceiling fan which we ran quite a bit to keep the air flowing. For those who prefer to keep their room cooler--they can use the wooden slots to block the heat from pouring in near the bed. The king-sized bed can fit two comfortably. The inn is non-smoking. I don't think pets are allowed but readers should check with the inn directly as policies change. The bathroom has a heat lamp and exhaust fan. It includes a vanity looking out onto the street with lace curtains. (Shower only.) In addition, there is a TV in the room but we didn't use it except to listen to the weather report in the morning. Free Wifi. Free newspapers in the lobby area for guests. Breakfast is included. The egg souffle was excellent. French toast was featured on another day. It's good, too, but if you are watching your sugar intake, I recommend bringing some of your own snacks. There is a drip coffee maker in the room. Staff makes every effort to accommodate you if you have special requests. Linda and Venetia were both great! Some things I did miss--a Keurig maker for flavored coffee. Even flavored ground coffee would have been nice. The spoons in the room do not measure the coffee accurately so a measuring spoon would have been great. The cord on the coffee maker was too short to reach any of the plugs so I recommend asking for an extension cord. I understand there may be some restrictions because this is an historic property; however, I do hope they get a microwave at least in the main dining area so that guests can heat up a cup of tea or coffee. If you have heavy suitcases, do not book the top room. It's a great room for people who pack light. If you do have heavy items and want the top room, make some arrangements with the staff in advance of your arrival. MISC. Rooms include soap, shampoo, hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Also cotton balls and Q-tips. My sister and I enjoyed our visit very much. The staff makes you feel like family. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. It's so much more fun than staying at a chain hotel.

High class Inn, perfect to end a ride on the Katy Trail. My husband and I loved it so much we stayed an extra night! Super comfy bed, amazing breakfast, and great location. Shed to store bikes in, brewery across the street and just off the bike trail. Hosts go out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect.

We stayed at Boone's Lick Trail Inn for an overnight. The accommodations were historical & unique. Linda, the hostess, was personable, comical, and a fantastic chef. She went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. We ate dinner at Trailhead Brewery, right across the street, which was quite handy. The strawberry stuffed French toast was delicious. Very pleased with our experience! Would definitely recommend to others looking for a B&B in historic St. Charles.
