We have given Summerset so many chances ... but each time, something new arises with the owner. From wanting to charge us for a baby, to claiming they accept pets (as it's posted in the rooms) but then insisting that there is a clause in the contract for no pets Memorial Day to Labor Day. Which, by the way, our stay was pre-Memorial Day. It's difficult to reason with unreasonable people. I would like to note that the person at the front desk tried to go above and beyond and be accommodating, but the owner (over her shoulder) was, for the lack of a better term, "Scrooge-like". I want so much to like this place, but we'll never return until it is under new ownership. The property is old and tired and certainly not customer service driven, but the location is outstanding.

Unit is clean but very small sofa is only chair in the unit. Brought in a chair from the deck. Not my taste in decorating, a bit garish. Room not much bigger than bedroom in my home. Rate is very reasonable. Pool doesn't have much to protect from the sun all day. People very nice who run the property. Probably not somewhere I would stay for several days.

Great place to stay. We come every year and rent the Captains quarters. Even though it is very dated, its clean! And thays really what matters. I wish the tv would be updated in the livingroom. But other than that everything is in working order. Pool area is great. Maybe trim the bush by the shuffle board game and have all the pieces to play the game.

➖ The room was extremely outdated and smelled. It did not look like the pictures on the internet. We found a dirty sock under the day bed. We couldn’t sleep in the two bedrooms because the rooms were so hot. We turned up the air in the living area, but it would freeze us out and it never did cool down the bedrooms enough. We had to pull a mattress out to the living room to sleep and that was not comfortable. We left a day early. I asked the lady at the front desk if we could just be reimbursed for the one night we would not be staying and she was extremely rude. She said she never had any complaints before and “it was 100 degrees out!” I understand it was very hot while we were there, but we should have been able to sleep in the bedrooms. When we got home, I had to wash all of our clothes, even the ones we didn’t wear, due to the smell from the room. My husband and I both work in customer service and the way they handled the situation was unprofessional and disappointing. I would not stay here again and will not recommend this place to anyone. ➕ The pool area and view of the lake were very nice. The room was clean, although we did find a dirty sock under the day bed.

Place had a great setting, especially the pool area. Problem were had wasnt that the rooms were from the 50s. They were clean. Just wish the bed had been updated. Booked for four nights could only take the bed for three. Wouldn't refund the last night. Won't stay here ever again.

Response from Angela S, Front Desk - Reservations at Summerset Inn Resorts and Villas

We hope your stay could have been better. Our property was built in 1971, with updates completed as possible each season. Unfortunately, what may be comfortable for one, can be the opposite for another. There are rooms offering upgraded, or other type amenities that you may find more pleasant. We hope you still enjoyed the Lake of the Ozarks area, and all it has to offer. Respectfully, Jessica - Front Desk
