This was perfect for a 12 night Covid free break and we really enjoyed the tranquility of the resort. What sets it apart is the staff who were, without exception, friendly, obliging and very professional. The food was excellent and we didn’t miss the three closed restaurants. We had the Arabic menu one might and were offered the Indian too but to be honest the set menu you can choose form is so limited it is better just to stick with the offerings at those venues open. We didn’t really rate Trio ( great ambience but pretty average food) but appreciate we are lucky to have amazing Italian restaurants near us (and not long back from 5 days in Bologna) so perhaps more difficult to please. What we did love was Bamboo and Islanders grill and chef Ace must get a special mention as we worked our way through his entire menu and was fabulous (leche flan a delicious end to any meal). The AI drinks were also great and more than ample choice. Breakfast was plentiful and diverse and a testament to the buffet choice that only about by day 10 did we begin to get weary of the choice as on repeat by then which is a rarity as usually my husband ready for a change after day 5! The sushi, Dhaals, fruit and noodle soup in particular worth a mention and the delicious freshly squeezed juice and sparkilng wine got the day off to a good start. Ice cream was fab but I think like every other guest we meet in there a plea for more coconut ice cream as flavours rarely changed and that seemed to be a guest favourite! In terms of staff too many to mention but a few favourites (and apologies as will have missed some stars out too!) were Chef Ace, Shunjua (always smiling at Islanders Grill), Swapan, Asanka, Years, Saddam ( x 2 at breakfast), Enayet (great fruit platters), Madusanku and Mahil at bamboo and Manjua. Our butler was also great and booked dinners etc with aplomb and was very efficient. Pools where very quite when we there and greta to re;lax and we snorkelled out the back our of water villa most day. We also tried the SUP and kayaking which is included. Sunset fishing was also lovely and brilliant to catch some fish ( even though it seemed ridiculous to then want to charge your $60pp to have them prepare it for you when it no doubt went into the fish of the day bucket and ended up back on your plate!). Also book the hydrotherapy /spa pol at the spa as this is exclusive use for an hour a day and although we only found the time to use once it was a lovely little facility. We stayed in a water horizon villa which was well appointed with a great hot tub on the deck and spa bath. It was brilliant to be able to snorkel off the back off our deck and a great house reef with loads of variety in fish. We even spotted a few rays and dolphins early one morning. Our villa was kept spotlessly clean even if mini bar/coffee replenishment was as bit hit or miss ( I think it depended what he had on his trolley!). The only negative (and it in no way detracted from our stay ) is that the resort itself is tired in places and obviously needs some money spent on it ( repainting of wooden boardwalks, sun loungers etc and replacement of patio umbrellas etc ( ours was ripped and broken)). I suspect the recent money issues within the Sun group have played a part in this but hopefully they will be able to rectify soon and we would stay again as a perfect combination of sun, sea, sand, luxury and lovely staff. Also probably worth noting there are lots of Covid measures in place but the best thing is you can get there and forget all about it!

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed here for 8 days at the end of August, we travelled as a family of 3 with a 17 month old baby. The resort was very quite due to COVID however there was plenty of staff on hand to help and provide assistance from start to finish. We stayed in a beach villa with a pool, the villa it’s self was great, and a step away from the crystal clear waters of the sea. They also have the house reef which you can snorkel on, this is useful as we have stayed at other resorts which means a trip on a boat to go snorkelling. The food was great and we eat a number of times at the Trio restaurant, not all of the restaurants are open at the moment but they are serving the menus of the closed restaurants at various ones around the resort. My wife celebrated her birthday while we were here, the staff went out of there way to decorate the table/ villa and provided us with plenty of other options. Our daughter loved the kids club onsite and visited most days, lots to do even for younger ones. Big thanks for to all the staff in the kids club for making us feel so welcome. Rushdhee was our butler and was on hand to do everything he could to make our stay enjoyable so special thanks to him. Highly recommend this resort and we are already looking at coming back in 2021.

I’m still here in water villa 408 for another 7 days but just had to comment as to what an amazing resort this is with just the very best of staff. The team here cannot do enough for you. It’s difficult times in the world today but you would never know it staying at the Sun Siyam. The staff here has made me feel safe and at home since our arrival by sea plane. I have new friends and just wish for one day I could wear a mask and serve them as I know it’s so hot and difficult to wear a mask in this climate but I can still see there smiles and it humbled me every day. Thank you sun Siyam for making me feel so well on my journey from across the world

Booked a villa with Free cancellation, but the Hotel refused to Return money until january next year, through these conditions were never mentioned anywhere. Now the Hotel ignores all inquaries even from my bank and I am not sure that I will ever see my money back... It's almost 4k dollars and more than a month passed since cancellation. It is literally a disaster and such a dishonor for the Hotel and every body Who works there. Never send money to the Hotel, never go there. That's the first time I see such a fraud like behavior from a Hotel, especially 5 star.
