Beautiful historic home with knowledgeable hosts in impeccable condition. Very clean, comfortable rooms and a very good breakfast! Located in a nice small town near major highway that has all Amercan restaurants.

Enjoyed our night in this lovely home. Nicely decorated. Interesting history. Our hosts were gracious and welcoming. Wonderful breakfast, lovely to enjoy on the side porch. (Be prepared for the train tracks next door and the sound of a train seeming to come through the room in the middle of the night. All part of the experience.) The host is... More

We stayed two nights at this lovely old historic bed and breakfast in the green garden room. Since it is right by the railroad tracks we were wary of trains passing all night...but there werent many. The room was comfortable and we had a private bath just outside our door. A refrigerator with soda and water, tea and coffee maker and... More

My wife and I have stayed at the Dickey House several times and can say without question it is one of the nicest, cleanest and most friendly BandB we have every stayed at. And the breakfasts are always first rate. We highly recommend it.

Lovely 1903 home in town! Rooms nicely decorated with classic and antique furnishings. There were many places to sit and relax in this large home. Breakfast was perfect and the German-style apple pancake baked in a small cast-iron skillet was simply delicious! We purchased a Deneen pottery mug featuring this great B&B.

Innkeeper Larry was a delight and exceptionally accommodating throughout our stay. The grand home and grounds are elegant and tastefully and functionally furnished. Breakfast was unique, but more importantly delicious enough to rival brunch at the finest of places. The Dickey House Bed and Breakfast exceeded my expectations!

This trip was a Christmas gift and it was a great one. Charming home, nice folks, great breakfast... that comes with a train at 3AM. The train is a bit of history and certainly no reason not to go and stay... it goes by fast and then you're fast asleep.

Pros: Beautiful historic home. Wonderful landscaping. Well-prepared and beautifully presented breakfast. Knowledgeable hosts. Comfortable beds. Good privacy. One room with en suite bathroom, two rooms with baths close by. Cons: The one fatal flaw for this B&B is its location. The front of the building faces a fairly busy street, and the other side is bounded by a railroad track.... More

My wife and I came for a get away. Very nice place to stay. Told the inn keepers that we would not be having breakfast, so she made us some little heart shaped muffins for the morning. She said she didn't want us hungry. Will definitely be coming back. The Prairie Suite was very relaxing and romantic. Very secluded.

We enjoyed our stay and will return. The historic house was interesting to walk through and the outdoor patio was wonderful for relaxing after a long day. We had our own table at breakfast which we loved since we were enjoying a kid free getaway.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dickey House is a 108 year old unique and gracious Greek Revival mansion that sits on an acre of gardens. The Dickey House is and has been a Bed and Breakfast for the past 27 years. The mansion was built at the turn of the 20th century by Samuel N. Dickey, the poor son of a farmer father and school teacher mother. Self-taught, Mr. Dickey later became a prominent prosecuting attorney in Marshfield and Webster county. The Mansion remained in the family until 1970 when the daughter, Ms. Ella, passed away. As a Springfield area bed and breakfast, this majestic home invites you to step back in time while enjoying all the amenities of modern life. From the first glimpse of this massive mansion, with its four, three foot diameter hand-made columns, Widow's Walk and new beveled glass front entrance, you feel that you have touched an era that has long since passed. The Mansion has been renovated and updated in 2000 and again in 2014 and has an upscale look and feel with a blend of the old and new. ... more   less
