We love this resort. We went the week of July 4th with kids ages 8 to 15, and everyone had a blast! Great homemade meals for breakfast and dinner, and they made wonderful sack lunches for our afternoon float trip. Bar area for the adults and lots of board games for the kids in the main lodge. The cabins are... More

We started with a plan to gather 25 aunts, uncles, nephews & niece and their partners and children from Georgia, Tennessee, Minnesota, Costa Rica and Massachusetts for a weekend at the Wilderness Lodge but life happens and at the last minute a few could not attend. Our hosts had policies that clearly outlined cancellations ahead and could not have been... More

We stayed in Hilltop #18. Charming, high ceilings, A/C, king bed, mini-fridge, coffee maker, screened porch looking into woods at leaf level. Warm reception, great service, and the meals were exceptional. Went rafting, hiking, reading, napping. We've been before and we'll be going back. Love this place!

My friend and I took our grandchildren (3-12 yr, 2-9 yr) to stay at Jack's Cabin. The cabin was so much fun - plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, living room space. The kids loved the front porch - lounged and read there. The food was great - special menu items for the kids - hot dogs, hamburgers - but gourmet comfort... More

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge on 7/5/2016 and absolutely loved it. The owners were very accommodating and check-in was very easy. They even let us borrow a umbrella, tubes and sunscreen for the beach (which we forgot, lol). We stayed at the Riverside cabins, which were a cozy, rustic cabin with a big balcony. The cabin had lots of books... More

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary with a 2-night stay at Wilderness Lodge. Had been wanting to come here for years and finally found the right time. Our room was a hilltop cabin with a king bed. HEAVENLY bed, great shower, large room with an extra day bed, 2 nice comfy chairs plus a table and 2 other... More

My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary this year at The Wilderness Lodge. It was the first time for both of us and I can only describe it as Exceptional. From the quaint rustic cabin to the top notch meals everything was beyond our expectations. It is hard to say if the staff is the best part of... More

My family and I spent Memorial Day Weekend 2016 at the Wilderness lodge exploring the great State Parks in the area. The lodge has a very rustic feel but at the same time is cozy. I have traveled extensively throughout the world and do not believe that I have encountered staff that is friendlier then at the Wilderness Lodge. From... More

So glad we decided to go after the October leaves fell! We usually try to time our visit when the fall colors are at their height. Not sure when they shut down for the winter season, but don't shy away from November. The weather was still great for hiking and just hanging out in front of the fireplace. As always the... More

Fabulous rustic resort with everything you need. We stayed in the hilltop cabin and loved the massive fireplace and quiet screened in porch. The meals were outstanding, all fresh and homemade. We took lots of walks with our dog and enjoyed all the beauty of the fall season. Will absolutely go back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At Wilderness Lodge, we have over 25 different cabins, suites and cottages for guests to enjoy. All cabin prices are based on a per person, per night charge since dinner and lunch are included with the package. Breakfast is available continental style from 7:30am to 9:30am, and we also serve a hot breakfast from 8am to 9am. For dinner, we have 4 seatings at 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm, and 7:30pm. During the week there is just one dinner seating between 6pm and 7pm (but we still try to be flexible if guests would like to come a little earlier or later). As far as activities, there is of course the Black River directly across the road from Wilderness Lodge for a little (or a lot) of water fun. Just a short walk from the cabins, the river, gravel bars, and side streams are great places to explore, swim, catch water critters and just relax in the sun. For a bit more adventure, we rent canoes, rafts, kayaks, and tubes for floating. We port floaters upstream in the morning for a 4 to 6 hour float (depending upon how fast the river is moving and how many gravel bar breaks you take) that ends up right back at our rivers edge campground. There are plenty more outdoor activities on the property including hiking, fishing, miniature golf, horse shoes, basketball, shuffle board, a playground, frisbee golf, etc -- we even recently found a cave to explore for those not afraid of small spaces. :) There are also a number of cool nature attractions within a short car ride, including Elephant Rock State Park and the recently opened Johnson Shut-ins. To get out of the heat, we have an air conditioned rec room with games & indoor activities -- and we plan to keep the main Lodge open all day long (over the last couple years it was only open during the meal times). Also in the main lodge is the Ripple Room Lounge, open for cocktails and beverages from 5pm to 9pm everyday. For the readers in our crowd that want a little piece and quiet, we have taken one of the Rock Cabins and converted it into a library refuge. Finally, on Saturday nights, we will also hold an informal friendly family game night in the main lodge for anyone that wants to attend. Unwind. Cool Off. Eat Well. Enjoy Wilderness!
