Deb & Ed run what is probably the best Bed & Breakfast we have stayed in. Well decorated room, comfortable bed, great bathroom with a shower & a whirlpool tub & balcony with a view of the lake. You can sit on a covered veranda by the lake & visit with other guests. They also have a swim dock. Ed stopped by & told stories while we were on the veranda one evening. Deb makes a delicious breakfast & then stays for conversation. Chocolate chip cookies & soda are available 24/7. You can't go wrong staying here.

We decided to check out Lake of the Ozarks because we were in St Louis and are infatuated with the Netflix series. Who knew it was filmed in Atlanta, GA or the lake was man made ? We do now! Despite those revelations, sure glad we found Deb and Ed and their magnificent home on Lake Ozark. True waterfront. Very cool and beyond charming and warm. They have thought of everything and more. Breakfast was a highlight. And so was getting to know our hosts. We would recommend a stay for the mature couples who want to see the area and maybe go fishing with Big Ed !

This Bed and Breakfast is amazing. But let me tell you that Ed and Deb are even more amazing. Super clean and perfectly decorated rooms and commons areas. Great relaxing scenery from a beatiful deck overlooking the water to a super nice dock to sit and relax on or fish or swim off of. Gourmet breakfast served every day by Deb with lots of wonderful fellowship to go with it. Race track and fishing stories from Ed was also wonderful. The hospitality this couple provides during your stay is unbelievable . They truely make you feel like family. We will definitly be going back every chance we get. Thank you Ed and Deb for making our get away so special and relaxing.

We stayed in the Home Sweet Home room for six nights in June. It had a private balcony with a beautiful view of the lake. The private bathroom had a whirlpool for two. There’s abundant common area on two floors, well decorated with a very Ozark-y combination of fishing paraphernalia and Longaberger baskets. Outside, there’s another deck overlooking the lake, with several rocking chairs and side tables. Breakfast is huge! French toast, eggs, ham, sausage — many combinations I’d never had before, always with a side of fruit. If you have special dietary needs, Deb can accommodate. Speaking of Deb, she and Big Ed (of Big Ed’s Guide service) are wonderful hosts. We felt like family by the second day. They’re available and interested but not intrusive. They’ve lived in the area for some 20 years and can tell you anything you want to know, whether it’s “which is the best cave tour?” , “are there invasive species in the lake?” , or “where are the fish?” They are gracious, kind-hearted, patient, and humorous. We’ll be back.

My wife and I just spent three nights at Bass & Baskets. In a nutshell - Beautiful location, excellent accommodations, and friendly service at a great price. This is a true Bed & Breakfast, the definition of what one expects when booking this type of vacation. On arrival, we were greeted by the Proprietress, Deb Franko. She showed us where to park and the best way to get down the driveway which is steep, but don't worry - your car will make it - unless you're driving a Corvette or similar sports car - you might have to park at the top. We were shown our quarters, given a brief tour of the premises and all that is offered, then left blissfully to our own devices for the evening. The guest quarters are on the two upper floors, and each has their own common area with comfortable seating where one could melt away a few hours napping or reading a book. Upon entry to the room, the first thing I look for is cleanliness. I am not exaggerating when I say you could literally eat off every surface in the room. I did a thorough inspection with powerful UV lights on everything from the toilet to the bed linens to the seat cushions and found zero evidence of any kind of stains. Not even any residual cleaning liquids, I mean this place is CLEAN from stem to stern. I have NEVER found a cleaner room. Our room had it's own private balcony, and from that top floor the view is really pretty special. The bed is very comfortable, the sheets are extremely high thread count, the pillows are either goose down or the equivalent, and if you must watch TV there is a Roku smart TV over the fireplace. There are cable TV options as well. Water pressure was not the strongest, but it gets nice and hot. I'm guessing you won't get "city" water pressure anywhere out here, simply a fact that is dictated by the location. Available to guests 24 hours a day, there is a large common area on the bottom floor with a well appointed kitchen. A coffee and tea bar are located adjacent to the kitchen, as well as a day head. Deb's freshly baked cookies will be found on the coffee bar, and possibly some other treats. Twining's Teas are featured on the bar, and my wife said the coffee is good (sorry I didn't get the name of the coffee). Various powdered creamers and hot chocolate also there, and in the fridge will be found complimentary soft drinks. Step out the patio door from the bottom floor, and you will find a spacious porch with various kinds of chairs from which you may ponder the universe whilst you survey what feels like your own watery kingdom. Descend the steps to the private floating dock with chaise lounges and a wire frame table with bistro chairs, perfect for having wine and charcuterie while taking in the view. This dock is honestly where I spent most of my idle time - sunset on the lake is a grand sight, as you will see below. I availed myself of the lake's waters on numerous occasions. It quickly became impossible to resist jumping in for a swim, so I did that quite a bit. While sitting there in the morning, large fish are jumping all around. Water is about 20 feet deep at the end of the dock. So you've heard about the bed, now let's talk about breakfast. As you will see in my pictures, which don't really do justice to the food, we were well fed each morning. Our first morning was actually a Sunday, and Deb made French Toast stuffed with cream cheese, covered in fresh fruit. Alongside this were link sausages and a soft-baked egg cup with ham as the "shell". Fresh orange juice, cranberry juice, coffee, tea and water were also served. It was the perfect amount of food, nobody left the table hungry. Second morning was Monday and we were presented soft scrambled eggs over English muffins with hollandaise sauce and ham-wrapped asparagus spears. The side dish to this was fresh fruit drizzled with yogurt and topped with granola. Orange and cranberry juices, along with coffee, tea and water were the standard array of beverages. Again, a perfect sized meal to break the fast. Our third and final breakfast (sorry, no pictures) was a perfectly made quiche (or maybe egg frittata) with cheese, ham, broccoli and who knows what else in there, but it was absolutely delicious. Fresh fruit is ubiquitous here, as are the requisite morning libations. Each night's sleep was quiet and peaceful. While I didn't see a thermostat in the room, it was not an issue as we found the temperature to be perfect for us. We were coming to this area to pick up a new puppy from our friends in Lebanon, about an hour south of the lake. Until this past weekend, I never would have thought of this as a vacation destination. Now it is on the short list of favorite getaways! This time of year was perfect for us because the lake was not busy and it was absolutely serene. We spent some time time touring the grounds of other "resort" properties near the lake - Don't waste your time. Get a room at Bass & Baskets.

We had a splendidly comfortable stay! The property is full of beauty and privacy inside and out, and thoughtful details like water bottles, robes, and wine caddy made it feel like a treat. We were so fortunate to have Ed take us out fishing to his local hot spots and that was real special to us. The breakfasts that were served were top notch and all the details and comforts were available and provided. Thank you for your amazing hospitality!!

Nicely decorated and spacious rooms. Our room overlooked the lake and had a nice balcony with chairs. Downstairs there is a comfortable sitting area. Deb was nice and welcoming; we did not meet Ed. Breakfasts were served in communal dining room. Food was acceptable... one was excellent; the other average as scrambled eggs and fried ham doesn't quite come up to what we have normally experienced in a B&B. Location is not easy to find and access is by narrow roads. There is a parking issue as well. Very steep incline and tight parking space. Not a place for large vehicles. Seems this could be resolved with assigned parking as there are only 4 rooms. There are lots of stairs regardless of what room you choose. Not a problem for many but guests should be aware of this. Also we made the mistake of not checking the community calendar and ended up being there during Bike Week. Seems there are a lot of big community activities around the lake so encourage you to check the calendar before making reservations.

I went to Bass & Baskets for a solo weekend of R&R and it did not disappoint. Deb and Ed were so friendly, accommodating and made me feel right at home. The home is exceptionally clean and Deb’s homemade breakfasts were unique, delicious and plentiful. I was a bit hesitant to go by myself but it was just what the doctor ordered. Just the right amount of privacy, and the other guests were friendly. I did a little fishing with Ed on Sunday morning and he was so knowledgeable about the lake, knew the secret spots, and it was so much fun! I can’t wait to go back! Don’t let this place pass you by, it is a slice of heaven!
