We very much enjoyed our stay here. The location was geat for us: away from busy downtown, easy access to freeways, relatively quiet for a large city. Our room was comfortable, clean, fully-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the casino very much, too!

I’ve been a loyal Boyd property gambler for a long time (usually at Delta Downs or IP Casino) but tonight I had a very traumatic experience at the cashier cage at Ameristar KC sometime around 10:00 pm on May 1st. I was gambling on the slots with my elderly parents when my mother asked me to go to the cashier cage for her and exchange an older $100 bill that couldn’t be recognized by any of the machines. I went up to the cage and was greeted promptly and in a friendly manner. I asked the male cashier to please trade out the bill for a newer one, and he dropped the single bill through his counting machine. Then his expression turned deadly serious and he said, “I can’t accept this. This bill is counterfeit.” I said, “What? There’s no way!” I hadn’t checked it all that closely, but I was pretty sure it was genuine. He said, “It’s counterfeit. Where did you get it?” I said, “My mother gave it to me. It can’t be counterfeit.” He said, “Well, it is. When did she give it to you? Like this morning? How long have you had it?” I said, “She’s right over there! She has a bad knee and didn’t want to walk all the way over here, so she gave it to me to exchange for her!” Then the cashier said, “Well this is serious. I’m going to have to call Gaming over this. I mean, this is a felony!” And what could I do but stand there feeling the color draining from my face? This back and forth exchange went on for what I think was a whole minute. There I was, facing the terrifying prospect of having to abandon my elderly parents several states north of home while I get hauled away for unknowingly passing a counterfeit bill. All I could do was keep repeating, “Dude, you’ve got to be kidding me right now!” (Actually, what I said was slightly more colorful than that, but this is TripAdvisor.) he said, “I’m not playing.” When I finally stared at him helplessly, not really knowing what else I could say, he smiled and said, “I’m just messing with you. Here’s your hundred!” Now I don’t know who this guy thought he was trying to entertain, but it certainly wasn’t me. I will have no sleep tonight after this traumatic experience. I didn’t ask for the manager in that moment, because I didn’t want to get my parents stirred up. (I never even told them about it…it would have infuriated them and would have ruined our entire trip.) But this experience was totally unacceptable, and if management is reading this, I hope you review the footage and take appropriate corrective action. You should not allow your employees to inflict emotional distress on your gamblers for their own entertainment. I can’t even describe what the intensity of that level of fear feels like, and Ameristar is the reason I had to experience it.…

We have been coming to Ameristar for years, we are locals. This used to be our getaway to escape the rat race. After what happened last night, we will never return, never spend one penny in this establishment after the embarrassment and way the treated us without any merit. Apparently they are not fond of veterans and patriotism. All was fine then out of the blue I turn around at the craps table where we all were having great time and I have 2 "security" guys telling me to cash out my chips because I appeared intoxicated. Seriously? Everyone at the table was drinking, no one was getting out of line, I certainly was not loud or disorderly. They were extremely rude about it. The casino floor manager i could tell from her remarks was a racist. I could tell she did not like my western attire and used her authority to make us leave the casino. I was not any more intoxicated than anyone else at the table. In fact of they are concerned about patrons drinking levels, they should control how much they serve. THEY had no problem charging $7 per drink and I think in an 8 hour gambling session I had 8 drinks and dinner, plus 8 waters. If I was out of line i would have no problem admitting so. This was not the case at all. There was some other factor involved and I can see it was racism. Shame on Ameristar. We will never return and we will share our experience with everyone we run across. I travel extensively across the country on business and I will make it a point to tell people if they visit Kansas City to stay away from Ameristar. As a veteran of the military it is huge insult t be treated as such when there was no merit to their decision. They ruined our night out and we will not forget how they treated us. We will spend our money elsewhere.…

Don't waste your $ just buy cheap tickets and save hundreds of dollars to stand in front of Row A! Pictures say it all the view we had entire concert Management has yet to contact me. Not surprised!

Have been visiting here for around 25 years and it's always a good experience. Rooms are clean and workers are friendly. Casino is fun but there were only two bars open when I was there, so it was always a wait to get a drink. I'm sure they are short staffed, but they need to open more bars in the casino. Miss the buffet and the bakery where you could get a quick breakfast in the morning. Hoping those re-open someday.

Hotel is always very clean and maintained well. Workers are friendly and make check in pleasant. Several great restaurant choices and the casino is always a fun place to spend an evening even if you don’t gamble.

In my opinion, the slot machines here are no better or worse than the ones at Harrah's, Bally's, Argosy, Hollywood, and 7th Steet. It really is not very much fun to play the slots in KC because it seems the payouts are not as generous as they were in past years. My bankroll just not last as long as it used to. It is not any fun to lose on almost every visit. I really hope Ameristar management will find a way to reopen the buffet in at least a limited manner, on weekends. It would be so nice to enjoy a Sunday Brunch buffet or a Crab Legs Night buffet without having to make the drive over to the Prairie Band Casino and Resort. I have made that drive a few times. The casino may be smaller when compared to Ameristar, but I seem to be able to play longer on my bankroll there.

The food at the Sports Pub was delicious as always. I tried the Philly Cheesesteak. Ot was so good. My wife had a turkey burger. She said it was the best ever. My daughter had a personal pizza. At was loaded with yummy goodness. We gambled but we never win much but have fun. I must of had 5 free glasses of Dr pepper. There little glasses. Had a great time.

Was looking on Ameristar's FB site and found the "Winners" page" well don't believe all you see or read. I've made several trips to this casino post-COVID only because if very close and as usual, came out with NOTHING to show for a lot of money input. Not only are the slots (lighting and Dollar Storm) slots so tight (over $200.00 and not ONE free game or bonus is given. I think that may not be the worse part but then you have to listen to the loudest music ever being played in a casino it's like you are at a nightclub someplace ... really - whoever is in charge of the music/sound system needs to get out of your office and walk around on the casino floor or ask some of the floor workers what they think. My last trip to this place.

We booked this room to come And relax and swim and use the hot tub. Went down to pool only to find out it was closed for a private event. Nobody mentioned this during the call to reserve the room or when checking in. What TERRIBLE service
