This hotel is a simple, yet elegant place that has preserved a historic presence without feeling dated. The doorman greets you and throughout your stay will try his best to anticipate your comings and goings with greetings and courtesy. The staff were all extremely friendly and eager to assist. I was upgraded to a King suite and the rooms are comfortable, well appointed and the furnishings were updated very tactfully. Shower and sink areas were a bit smaller than some of the new construction hotels but they have done well to make the old hotel present modern comforts without changing the motif. It is a short walk to many restaurants and shops in the Plaza as well so it’s a great place to stop for any occasion. The restaurant and lounge were room service only at the time we were there but it looks like it would be a really nice “speakeasy” type experience. Parking was $16 per night so be aware of that but that’s pretty typical for a “downtown” hotel in KC I believe. Well done Marriott.

Stayed for 1 night as part of a weekend getaway. Used one of my suite nights and got a corner king suite with plaza views. For the number of rooms this boutique hotel has I was really surprised how many staff there were. The front desk staff were very friendly. Easy walk to the Plaza for shopping and dining.

As a Titanium Elite member was given two $15 vouchers to use towards breakfast in Chaz - brisket and eggs was great. Room was a little pricey ($350) for Saturday night but Garth was in town and I compared it to lower end Marriott brands and felt the difference was well worth it

My family and I got a last minute booking here. The hotel is older but still lovely. The room was very pretty and the bed was very comfortable. I was so happy it had a tub and took full advantage. Room service serves several things 24 hours. Self Parking is only $16 and you can walk to the square easily. We will try and stay here next time we visit the city.

From the front of the hotel, which was beautiful, I expected a more grand of an entrance inside of the hotel. It seemed really dated inside. Status at this hotel means nothing. We were supposed to have one of the Premier suites with an early check in of 8am, but unfortunately we ended up not being able to get there that early and tried checking in at 4pm. We were told they had no rooms available at the moment, also mentioned the room would be on the first floor due to a group that blocked out the entire top floor although all the rooms weren’t being used, and quickly gave us 2 drink vouchers for their bar and said the room would be ready in 20 minutes. They held our luggage in their closet and said they would come get us when the room was ready. Thirty-forty minutes later my boyfriend went to check on the room and was told to give them another 20 minutes and provided two more drink vouchers. About thirty minutes later we received a call the room was ready and our luggage was waiting in the room. Upon arrival to our room one of our suitcases were missing, but once we mentioned it they brought it up. When we went to use the I noticed a part of the used the tub molding was broken and later after my bath the tub barely drained. I have to say they had plenty of hot water to fill the large tub. Approximately an hour later and constant opening and closing of the drain it finally emptied. Also there was a dirty towel with a lipstick on it hanging near the tub. Next morning we woke to a car alarm that had been going off in the parking garage for 45 minutes. Had to call the front desk to have someone check on it to get it to stop. Also the bed was so uncomfortable which is unusual for a hi-end Marriott. Needless to say for the cost of the room we were very disappointed.

The restaurant on the other hand is their saving grace!! Great customer service and the food is devine!! Had the shrimp cocktail which was the best I’ve ever had and the bar provided us with some salmon samples served with egg salad with a wasabi sauce that was so delicious we returned for dinner in hopes to get this sample in a meal. Unfortunately it wasn’t on the menu but we were able to get a few more samples. Ordered a seasonal Scottish Salmon dish and I have to say it’s the best Salmon I’ve ever had next to McCormick and Schmidt’s. We returned for breakfast and again everything is delish!!

When we checked out and mentioned our issues and disappointments with the room the staff didn’t offer any compensation. If we ever did return it would be for the location near the Plaza and The Chaz.

We recently spent 3 nights at The Raphael Hotel. Had they told us when we booked they weren't providing daily housekeeping, we would have never booked it. Further, it's a terribly old hotel and located at a very busy intersection, so loud road noise is a constant. The HVAC system is archaic and every 5-10 minutes it turns on then off and it was extremely noisy. The WiFi provided is very intermittent in strength. Mind you this is NOT an inexpensive hotel.

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Kansas City. Beautiful foyer and very warm and welcoming staff great you at the door. Standard King room was much larger then we expected and the bathroom even being older was very clean and stylish. Nice secured self parking lot with a convenient 2nd floor back door. Did not get a chance to check out the club/restaurant but seems like it would of been an experience at the hotel. Just make sure you take screen shots of your booking as prices seem to change afterwards

We stayed here two nights as part of a long road trip, one night on the way to our final destination and one night on the return. One of us is a Marriott Bonvoy member and regularly stays at a number of Marriotts for work, and we were upgraded to a larger king suite with city views on the front travel end and river views on the return.

We loved this hotel. The location was great, and our rooms were spacious, quiet, nicely decorated and very comfortable. This is a retrofitted building originally from the 1920's, if memory serves, and sometimes this means the bathrooms are of varying degrees of spaciousness (to put it nicely!) but our bathrooms in each direction were good - the river view one was great, very spacious. The beds were extremely comfortable and room temperature/control was great. Everything felt freshly updated - no dings on the furniture. Our only complaint was the lack of outlets on one side of the bed, which is annoying as there's nowhere to plug your phone next to you!

The fitness center was really nice, with a bunch of weight training gear, a BOSU, weighted balls, cardio equipment and lots of bottled waters and granola bars. :)

Staff were all fantastic, very friendly and professional. We didn't try the hotel restaurant in person but did get a breakfast room service one morning (oatmeal, granola and yogurt, coffee), which was very good.

We were very pleased with our stays at the Raphael and will be staying there again when life takes us back to Kansas City!

Everything about our stay here was lovely! The hotel itself is beautiful, our room was clean and had a nice view of the plaza. We ate breakfast two mornings at the on-site restaurant, Chaz, and it was delicious. Servers and chef were great with an allergy within our party. The location was perfect for shopping/dining at the Plaza and we were able to walk to everything we needed. The icing on the cake was the exceptional service provided by everyone we encountered…front desk, bell staff, valet attendants. Everyone went out of their way with a smile to make our stay everything we could have wanted…would highly recommend this boutique gem!

We reside in the area and decided after Christmas to have a couples Sat night out after focusing on the kids/family over the holiday season. My wife and I were impressed by Reception Staff who contacted us a couple hours before we were scheduled our room was ready. We proceeded to enjoy a great 3 mile walk through a local park and neighborhood off the Plaza after returning holiday gifts and our smooth check in. We Still had time to enjoy a quick beverage from the bar in our room prior to our 7 pm Chaz dinner (which the bartender made the BEST dorado margarita)! The view of the plaza lights all evening from our 7th floor room view was a Great way to close out our evening!

Dinner at Chaz and Service was lovely and socially distanced where I felt comfortable enjoying this wonderful meal with my bride and a window view of the Plaza. The next morning we were able to conveniently walk to Church service, followed by another 3 mile brisk walk, the best breakfast at 11:15 at the resturant in a different area with amazing service, all in time for a late Check out to watch the chiefs win from our plaza perch view. We will be staying here again soon and the THANK the Raphael Team for the Top Notch Service from housekeeping, reception staff, Chaz team to the Valet Attendants! Bravo and keep up the Geat work!

I typically stay at this hotel 3-4 times per year and this was the WORST room you could get. I paid $600 for one night for a plaza view room and was very disappointed. The room was on the first floor and this was NO plaza view. It looked out into the valet and was not private at all. It was headlights, cars honking and engines revving all night. The cold water handle in the bathroom faucet would not work, the toilet paper holder fell out of the wall and the chain to lock the door also fell out of the wall. The king bed was so lumpy and the sofa bed was all springs. If you pay for the plaza view, make sure you request a higher floor. This room was AWFUL.
