If you want a great experience, make sure you book the concierge floor and you'll get to experience "Happy Hour with Don" and "Desserts with Don"! He is exceptional and loves his job... and it shows!!
I was here for work and got here late and didn’t have a reservation and the nicest lady at the front desk, named Shayna Burton, was so helpful and made me feel right at home. She was even able to save me quite a bit of money with some knowledge about getting on the website and pre-booking a room that is kind of hard to know unless you’ve done that before! In addition to being overly helpful and accommodating, she could not have been funnier or more accommodating when it was so busy in the bar area and there was a line of people and she was the only agent working at that time. Parking was included and very accommodating and safe as well, I really appreciate what she did and the hotel is lucky to have her at the front! She should be full manager! Got me a great view of the beautiful plaza!…
Best part of stay.... Don is the friendliest of the staff at this hotel. During our three day conference stay most of the staff are pleasant not overly friendly or helpful. At least three conference attendees had their vehicles broke into in the parking lot. The hotel management told those individuals "it is not our problem." Not a stay I would have paid for...
Came in for a wedding but didn't get the wedding room block as expected - however, Carmen at the front desk was awesome ... she took fantastic care to provide all that was included. She really did a great job and deserves to be recognized. She set us up with KCI Transport for trips around town and Andrew was an excellent resource - put him to use for your transportation needs. As for the facility ... pretty tired looking inside once you get past the lobby. It definitely needs a solid refresher, especially guest room hallways. Clean, but old - pretty high price tag for what you get (in my opinion). Great location, super service - just expected a little more for the price!
The staff here were the best and made me feel so welcomed. From the valet to housekeeping all were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating in every way. I want to give a special shout out to Don with desserts. What a guy! He was working in the happy hour and appetizer room. He was cheerful, singing, and dancing while he worked. It was obvious he loves his job. He kept the area clean and made sure we were taken care of. The front desk staff on duty on August 24, were also the best. I made a mistake in my reservation and the man assisting me took care of the problem with no worries for me. Thanks so much to each of you. I will be back.
Had a wonderful stay at this location. Wonderful location and very comfortable atmosphere. The staff was really the difference maker. Bartender Robert, Server Don, and Shayna at the front desk made the stay worthwhile. If you are staying in KC, this is where you want to be.
To begin, let me say that I have Royal Ambassador status with Intercontinental and Diamond status with IHG, so I have stayed at more than a few of their properties and I know what to expect. The bathroom was dirty when we checked in, clumps of hair in the soap dish and half full bottles of body wash (used). Room had hair on the back of the desk chair, and it did not appear the carpet had been vacuumed. I went to the front desk and told them about it, they said it would be addressed immediately (front desk clerks were very nice). Three hours later, when we returned from dinner (3 hours later), the room had not been addressed. We went back to the Front desk again. This time we were given drink and breakfast coupons, as well as a bag full of soaps and shampoo for our room (really, just give your customers a bag of stuff???) We were again told (this time by the manager) that it would be addressed. After having our drinks at the bar (about 1 hour later), we went to the front desk and were told the room was ready, housekkeeping even said on the radio that they had talked to us in the room! Not true. We went back to the room and found the door partially open and the bathroom not cleaned. This time I called teh front desk and asked the manager to come to the room. She sent a housekeeper who removed the hair and did a quick wipe down of the tables and chairs in the room. By this time it was 8:30 pm, so we went up to the 11 floor lounge for dessert and a drink. The lounge was full of kids running around, no glasses for the drinks, and no plates for the desserts. This morning, while taking a shower, I noticed stains on the shower curtain and the shower was not draining. The shower water pressure was terrible. My wife also stepped on a piece of wire on the carpet (so it wasn't vacuumed). Luckily, she was not hurt. Overall this property was more than disappointing. I expect a clean room, descent shower and security. None of this was proved by this property.…
The property has very obvious deferred maintenance issues and is out of date. However, the people who work there made the stay and deserve five stars. The ladies working check in were bright and cheerful all the time. Don in the concierge lounge was pure fun every time we were in there. Joshua at the pool handled service and clean up, running all the time and kept a fantastic attitude despite the hectic pace. The hotel itself likely merits three stars due to condition. Cheers and thank you to all the people who made our stay great.
We had a great time staying in the intercontinental. The best part was doing happy hour and dessert with Don. He made our stay more welcoming and cosy! Thank you for all you do Don! We would like to see Jazz nights come back instead of the blues & Rock. It took away from the relaxing wine down that the hotel just to have.
We stayed here in mid July, and were supposed to have a room with a balcony and a mini fridge. Room had neither… they were able to get a mini fridge and bring it in, but no balcony of course. Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was packed on Saturday. I heard someone say that people can get day passes to the hotel, which made it not as relaxing for overnight hotel guests. The pool was much better on Sunday and Monday
