Location: 2 mins downhill walk to Plaza where you will find shooing, dining and all sorts of activities. Parking garage is not gated but charges $20. Sort of honor system that you need to notify the front desk that you have a car with them. Otherwise I don’t see how the charge gets enforced. Interior: This hotel is old and need interior remodel. From many reviews, you may see photos of peeling wall paper and stained carpet and dirty elevator. That’s just what it is. Staff: friendly, efficient, get the job done. Billing error: it is actually shocking to notice that the breakfast menu price is different from the actual charge. From the photo you can see that the pancake is listed for $12 but the check has it as $14. Did not get a chance to fix and send the photos to the management email listed in IHG app. Two weeks since I sent the email, I did not receive a response. So IC KC, you do owe me $2. On the other hand, wonder if other travelers may also get overcharged for this $2. Overall, this is not a normal IC you would expect. They have the nuts and bolts of IC but needs some serious upgrade.

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary. With the reviews, photos and experience in the Plaza area I thought I would spend a little more to have something “fancy”. The outside of the hotel and parking garage were very clean as expected. The check in process was also very smooth, and the desk were doing a great job enforcing masks on the premises. Due to COVID protocols there is still no bell boy or concierge which was fine. We got up to our room, and it had a kind of musty smell to it. We had a king room and it was kind of small but enough space for an evening. The bathroom shower didn’t drain well and we struggled to get hot water even though it was 6 in the evening. The bathroom was very small in size and you could easily get hit with the door. The toilet also looked like a public restroom toilet, which was fine but didn’t match the decor of the hotel or room. I thought the bed was very comfortable and the temperature was easily adjusted. Lots of USB ports available which was fantastic to see, however the bedside lamps ports did not work so my phone was not charged. My overall experience was the hotel rooms could use some updates with stains on the carpets, the molding coming off above the curtains and the bathroom tiles. The lobby was beautiful, the room was clean with no visible trash, and was located within walking distance to many restaurants and shops.

This is our third time staying at the InterContinental Kansas City. We could have stayed at a new Hyatt for less money with our Hyatt account but we are so loyal to this hotel. Our stay was for two nights but we extended to three. The location is perfect and walking distance to Country Club Plaza which has nice shops and lots of eating choices, which is very helpful during Covid. We were very nervous to do a hotel stay during Covid. The IC is spotless and the hotel takes many measures to keep guests safe. I haven't felt anxious at all. We are in a one bedroom suite on the concierge floor. The concierge isn't open but that's ok because they are keeping us safe. The staff is the nicest staff ever and not snobby at all. Every person goes out of their way to say hello and ask if they can do anything to help. Guests: Everyone is wearing masks and doing what they are supposed to do. Very impressed with the Intercontinental and will keep coming back each year. Thank you!

We stayed here for a weekend retreat because we have known this hotel for many years. Very few guests were booked. We discovered why: 1. No bell staff at all. We had to carry our bags to our room ourselves. 2. No cooling in the room. Outside temp was about 55 and we had to open the sliding glass door all night to stay cool enough. Traffic noise all night. 3. One outside door was locked at 5:00 but posted to be locked at 10:30. 4. Site lighting was not on at dark in front of the hotel. 5. Worst of all - the elevators were not functional at 7 am. We were on the 9th floor and had to walk down the exit stairway which has NO access to the lobby. Exit doors were locked.

Recently stayed here while attending a Chiefs game in KC. have been staying at this property since it was a Ritz. Staff was great, COVID prep and handling was on point. Rooms are well appointed and many have great views. This hotel is walking distance to tons of restaurants and bars. will review the lobby bar - American Slang - separately but the staff their took great care of us! all in all a great place to stay with a very friendly staff. Prices were very reasonable.
