From the time I walked in the door and was greeted by John the head Bellman and do you and Jonathan at the front desk pleasant experience. I had a great room overlooking the plaza with the beautiful holiday lights so that was a great treat for us. Everyone on staff that I encountered was very pleasant and excellent at their jobs. Besides besides the people I mentioned above Mike at the front desk was great to work with. I also encountered Cory the food and beverage director and the very jovial Don that made everyone happy and the concierge lounge. When coming to Kansas City that should be everyone’s go to hotel.

This hotel is not as it advertises. My spouse and I were booked here for 5 nights for a business meeting. Upon check in it was obvious that the bathroom was very dirty as if not cleaned at all from the previous guests. As we arrived very late, the following morning we asked hotel staff to please clean the bathroom which they did somewhat. There was mildew and hair on the ceiling and surfaces still not clean. Wallpaper peeling off the wall. Outlet in the bathroom did not work and mirror was chipped. Our hot and cold water did work fine. Refrigerator did not work. But have to say I did not ask hotel staff to check it. The bed area was satisfactory. Bed was comfortable in spite of a comforter that was more suited to an unheated cabin in the mountains. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Especially give a shoutout to restaurant (Slang) staff who worked their hardest to serve an after Chiefs game crowd while being terribly understaffed. Truthfully, if we weren't locked in with a group, we would have checked out after the first night.

This hotel is in a great location for The Plaza area, but sadly looks a bit neglected, partly because the fountain at the front is broken, dry and has tape marking part of the walkway off. Once inside it's better, there is a lovely fireplace in part of the lobby and service was good. Room and bathroom were both very spacious and had a balcony overlooking the Plaza. We ate breakfast by the bar on our last morning, but the Omlet was cold and the Oatmeal undercooked, so that was disappointing. I understand things have suffered because of Covid, but I expected better for the price.

Room Tip: There is a daily fee to park, but they did waive it for us as the garage barrier wasn't working...

Thank you for the feedback, we truly apprecaite it. The front area had a water main break so the city is working on this currently. We also drain the fountains for the winter to ensure thet are not damaged by freezing. We miss them as well and will start them back in the spring. We also apolgize for the issues with breakfast. We will share your feeback with our culinary team to ensure we correct moving forward. Thank you again and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again soon. -Jeff Keeley, General Manager

Front of hotel water fountain has been broken for over 2 years now. Rooms have peeling wallpaper, that is in dire need of renovation. Stains on bathroom floors. For the money you pay for an Executive Suite at InterContinental, this is unacceptable. Motel 6 has nicer accommodations. Nobody answers the "At Your Service" phone connection, it just rings, rings and rings. Country Club Plaza view from Executive Suites is overlooking the hotel rooftop and AC units. Very disappointed with our stay, so much we will not return. (see photos)

Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for falling short of your expectations. A clean, funcitonal and well appointed guest room is a minmal expectation and we apologize for not delivering that on this stay. We hope to have you back with us again soon so that we can show you the true InterContinental Hotel experience. Just and FYI, the water feature in front of the building is actually a reflecting pool and not a fountain.

I needed one night to get away, currently in health care and working a lot, so I decided to stay the night at a hotel, get some peace and quite and great service, hubby said “ you should stay at the intercontinental- it’s the best in the plaza “ so I booked it, there was no valet ( I should say there was free self parking) the front desk people were rude, no room service , only breakfast but no menu available. They said it’s Covid precautions but strange because guests were roaming around without masks ( hotel probably trying to save money ) Bathroom was small and disgusting, one towel, small shower, only thing was that the bed was comfortable. Pretty trashy for a hotel that costs over 300 for one night. Never staying here again. What a disappointment.

Thank you for the feedback on this recent stay with us. We apologize for your stay falling short of your expectations. We are bringing back services as staffing allows. Valet and our Concierge Lounge will be open by November. Room service for dinner should be back by then as well. Our menus for room service are on the TV under hotel information, we should have informed you of this. We attempt to have all guests adhere to the mask mandate, but some are more compliant than others. We hope to have another opportunity to servce you again as we are certain we can improve upon this stay.
