I was left with mixed feelings after staying two nights in the 'Armory' section of the cottage. It made me think of just how hard it is to run accommodation where you can provide value for money and still turn a profit. We were looking for a period Bed and Breakfast in Richmond as a base to see the sights...

Hello Mary, Glad you enjoyed your stay at Bridge Cottage. Yes, we are located in a wonderful location and our accommodation is nice and cosy with electric, wood and underfloor heating. We provide complementary port and chocolates with decanter and port glasses - we don't expect guests to drink from the decanter. Our chocolates usually provided are Ferrero Rocher. Thank...

We were looking forward to staying in a nice authentic old cottage. The cottage was old, the decor was a mishmash and included a dirty sofa. The bed's mattress needs replacing. Cobwebs in bedroom and bathroom. Bathroom needs a complete redesign and build. Loved the heated slate tiles. Please keep them. We have stayed in many cottages in Tasmania and...

The cottages are centrally located and good if you want to stay in a historic setting, however they are not as described. The complimentary chocolates on arrival consisted of a mini bag of maltezers and a tiny milky way. The web-site describes the cottages as 'sound-proof' which was certainly not the case as we could hear the occupants of the...

Management response:

Yes Bridge Cottage is located in the Village overlooking the Historic Richmond Bridge. Built by Convicts in 1823 it housed the Sergeant who oversaw the construction of the Historic Richmond Bridge. Made of Convict brick the cottages are soundproof - apologies if the other guests were exceptionally noisy, we have not had this experience before. We have 3 types of...

We only stayed one night in the Sergeants Cottage side of the building, but found it to be clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, and the 'older' section of the accommodation was excellent. The newer add-on sections at the rear were okay, but let down the feeling of the older part of the structure somewhat. Parking was a...

We only managed to stay one night in the cottage and wanted to stay longer. Not at all disappointed with the accommodation. It was comfortable, clean and every thing we needed for the night there Very close to the town and walking distance to look around. .

Clearly the description of this property is well out of date and the 4 star rating has long disappeared. On arrival you have to call a mobile number to gain the access code for the entry key, ok no big deal, if it’s in day light. I arrived after hours and there was no outside lighting which makes it impossible...

I am surprised by the recent reviews of this lovely historic cottage My husband and I stayed for only one night recently and were charmed by the feeling of being immersed in a little piece of history. The front sitting room with open fireplace and port and chocolates waiting were lovely. And the location was great for both wandering down...

This property is inappropriately described and the advertising is very misleading. The accommodation at Bridge Cottages does not meet ones expectations as described on booking websites - We travel extensively and this has been the most misrepresented accommodation that we have ever experienced. 1. It is a semi attached accommodation NOT 2 separate cottages - it should be called Bridge...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on our recent visit to Richmond. Upon arrival we were a little confused as there was no one there to meet & greet us, so we rang the mobile number on the sign and were then provided with the details on how to gain entry to our cottage. The interior of...

We spent our last two nights in Tasmania in the Sergeants Quarters of Bridge Cottage. This is an excellent heritage accommodation with a lot to recommend. The booking was easily arranged on the phone as we sat in the car looking at the cottage. It has a bedroom, separate lounge with open fire, kitchen and TV room, plus bathroom and...
