This boutique hotel and yoga retreat is wonderful. Manager Yazmin, is so welcoming and helpful. The grounds are beautiful. Whoever laid out the property invested much time & dinero to make it stunning. Some of the prettiest gardens and landscaping, bar none.
Management is happy to arrange taxi service from airport and there is a taxi stand just outside hotel for local excursions, for me surfing and fishing. They also offer all standard boutique amenities yoga, massage and full service restaurant open 8am - 9pm daily.
The restaurant is also five star, unless you don't love fresh ingredients and Mexican food. I enjoyed shrimp and dorado (mahi) tacos each day. It was delicious.
The rooms vary in privacy and amenities. I went with the basic open air casita. I loved it. Some may not like a little less privacy than typical four walls, window with curtains provide. For those seeking more privacy and AC, get the larger more expensive suites, they also have that.
Troncones is a very mellow little Mexican beach town. It is not a hopping place. If you prefer that, maybe go to Ixtapa nearby. This is a place to go chill and enjoy paradise and really good fresh food with great service.

What a gem! Everything was amazing - staff, food, staff, spa, staff, beach, staff, rooms, staff, beach, staff and location! This is the opposite of a high rise, touristy, boozy resort and we feel lucky to have found it. It is truly a retreat center and we thoroughly enjoyed our time and already booked our return. The yoga and massage options were first rate, the location and proximity to the beach and surfing/boogie boarding spots are and facilities are well thought out and very well kept. Plus it’s a quick and easy walk into Troncones - which is also lovely and full of nice people, shops and restaurants.

My husband and I had a wonderful week-long stay at present moment. This place is truly a gem. Unsure where to start but here goes…
The owner Tom is super responsive and helped us locate a good set of dates to get one of the air conditioned rooms. For some it’s not a concern but we have to sleep cold and their split AC units are fantastic if that’s your thing too. I asked to take a look at one of their best non-AC rooms since it was the off season and they are really nice. The grounds are stunning and there is near constant maintenance so it looks picture perfect.
The staff is like a family, where you feel included as well. I would love to thank everyone we met personally, Emiliano, Michelle, Oliver, Efrain etc etc I regret that I didn’t write more names down and do this review while we were on the way home. Truly all of the people who work there are so caring you can’t go wrong.
The food is truly amazing whether you are doing a cleanse or the entire menu (sampled it all). We really appreciated how everything was very natural and health conscious to the smallest detail. It seemed liked a lot of people came from rental houses or other resorts for breakfast lunch and dinner combined with a yoga class.
The town is really small but you can walk to get almost whatever you need if they don’t have it in the resort shop. No swimming directly in front of the hotel but walk a little ways to the south and there is a great beach. Everyone is happy to point you to whatever you are looking for. If it’s in the cards please do the ATV tour.
My husband and I have never tried a retreat like this (OR yoga and meditation) but we loved it! If this is your thing you will certainly enjoy, if it’s not give it a chance. You can still get a strong margarita and sit by the pool listening to the ocean.
Apparently present moment also has another property sort of to the north west of Mexico City in the mountains on a lake. Consider looking that one up too - we are interested!

A nice eco-chic hotel with much to improve. Most Rooms are open, I stayed in one of the two with A/C which us nice but felt not perfectly clean. The tapestries and decoration pillows felt uncleaned in years.
They offer just cheap shampoo, no conditioner or bathing supplies. The towels and plastic pool furniture are old.
The restaurant is very overpriced, 40% more than places outside and food is average: pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches. Incredible considering the outstanding Mexican cuisine.
No drinkable water at the rooms. You have to buy or go to the restaurant each time to ask for a glass or buy super expensive bottles.
The yoga area is the best with very nice classes but they don’t clean neither the mats nor the floor frequently and in pandemia thats very bad.
The chairs and hammocks at the beach are just old and uncomfortable.
The place is in a fantastic location and has a lot of potential but it urges a generous investment to improve all the details.
The front beach is beautiful, rocky and naturally spectacular. If you want to swim at sea you can do it a few meters ahead.

This place was so perfect that we are already planning our return! Present Moment is a magical place where everything you need is at arm's length- a gorgeous and serene yoga pavilion where you practice to the sound of the ocean, a beautiful beachfront restaurant and bar which serve a delicious and varied menu of local food bursting with flavor as well as spectacular cocktails. Whether you choose to lounge on the beautiful beach, by the curvaceous turquoise pool, or on your cozy porch, you are surrounded by colorful tropical flowers and the lull of the lapping surf. The serenity that pervades this small eco friendly resort truly allows you to reside in the moment. The staff is unparalleled- from Efren and Oniver manning the helm of the restaurant and providing the most attentive and personalized service to superb yoga instructors like Emiliano and others, we were thrilled with how well cared for we felt. Tom, the owner of Present Moment, was extremely kind and professional to deal with and truly cared about our experience. Although we ate all of our meals at Present Moment, we enjoyed wandering around the little town of Troncones that was easily accessible by foot and offered many more opportunities for beachfront meals and drinks. The spa treatments at the resort by Monica and Tanya deepened our sense of relaxation and gave us the feeling that we never wanted to leave. The groundskeepers and housekeepers work so hard to support the pristine environment and we were in awe at just lucky we were to find this retreat which unlike most resorts offers yoga retreats year round. And if yoga is not your thing, there is plenty else to do. Tom and his staff have truly created a magical little Pacific Ocean idyll and I would encourage anyone to seize the opportunity to visit!

I had the good fortune of spending a magical night at Present Moment last year (2022) when I was in Troncones alone after my flights were snowed out. I spoke with the owner Tom about the possibility of coming back with a group, and I just went ahead and booked a magical week, and brought 15 of my favorite friends & family & colleagues back this month. We had an incredible time of doing yoga, eating delicious food, playing in the waves at sunset, taking local adventures with CostaNativa (hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, and more.) The staff are all so kind, and always helpful, the gardens are spectacular, and every detail has been considered. I was lucky enough to stay in the master suite, which was truly magical. Tasteful art and wonderful design ideas are all around. Taking showers in the morning, I could watch the sun slowly creep up over the ocean. The yoga classes twice a day were excellent, and provided a wonderful range of teaching styles. We could teach when we felt like it and relax with the offerings that were already there as well. The massages were really excellent, and the food was sublime. We also explored the other restaurants in Troncones, which is a fabulous little surf town. I hope to be able to return someday soon! Thank you so much Tom and Roccio, Ricardo, Oniver, Efron, Thomas and especially Emiliano for all the help planning, buying us all journals, etc. And deep thanks to the rest of all of the wonderful people who made our stay so magical. When Tom Morisette, envisioned what is today Present Moment, he foresaw an oasis – a sanctuary where human beings would reconnect with the ability of being present. He had to find the composition and components that would fit like pieces of a puzzle, leading to the extraordinary experience of reconnection with our souls.
Divine intervention, my husband’s extravagant birthday present, and a wonderful daughter who leads yoga retreats, allowed me to spend seven days by Troncones Beach – miles of uncrowded beachfront facing a small mountain range. Daily walks watching the waves, admiring the birds, discovering sea urchins attached to lava rock formations, each day ending in stunning sunsets. More than a resort, a small village of bungalows surround the pristine pool, nestled in a lovingly maintained landscape with fountains and sculptures. Each bungalow has its own name; I shared a very special one called Joy which bragged a sundeck and an extravagant ocean view from the shower stall (a highlight of each day for me). Hammocks and palm trees invite you to lazy afternoon naps. A charming restaurant managed by a warm, talented staff, where you are lulled by the sounds of the waves as you share locally sourced gourmet dishes. Mangos, papayas, pineapples, smoothies from Heaven. Every item in the menu is worth trying – the Chocolate Lava Cake is a must.
A brilliant team of yoga instructors, massage therapists (praises to Stevie for undoing the knots in my back), holistic therapists (thank you Tania, for connecting with and uplifting my soul during our session) is available every day. My daughter and her remarkable yogi students took part in kayaking, a hike to a magical cave and waterfalls, sunset horseback riding, and of course, shopping in local boutiques…even a small Farmer’s Market took place down the street. Local artisans displaying lovely artworks, jewelry, handloomed blankets, embroidered blouses, and bags – even homemade tamales, mezcal, coffee, and vanilla!
Oscar Wilde wrote “With age comes wisdom, but sometimes age comes alone.”
Maybe as we age we come to understand our emotions and feelings a little better. The older I get the more I recognize the importance of filling our hearts with a sense of being okay, of being enough, with self-love and acceptance. I have returned home with an intention of not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. In other words, of being present in the moment.

I had a terrific time here on a juice/raw vegan food detox over the New Year. It was peaceful despite being full. The staff was all truly amazing, remembering people's names, very respectful and helpful. The swimming pool was fabulous and big enough to swim around and around. It's a beautiful location right beside the beach so you can hear the crashing of the waves wherever you are. The vegan raw food was perfect for me as I was trying to lose a lot of weight quickly, but I would be disappointed with some of it if I were a normal person eating it. The 'lasagne' was particularly lacklustre. The Thai salad, however, was delicious and something I'd happily eat in 'normal' life.

Every person that works at this place was amazing... constantly checking in to make sure we had what we needed to have the best time. For a picky vegetarian the menu was amazing, and was willing to pay the little extra to have the high quality healthy food options. The one thing that would have made our trip a bit better was if we have gotten a room with A/C from the beginning. Between hot humid nights and mosquitos, a week of that was challenging, but when we switched to an AC room it was like.... UHMMM next time its a must.

I stayed in a deluxe bungalow for 1 week and was very comfortable. The pool, yoga studio, restaurant and beach were all just steps away which made for a great vacation with a group of friends. We barely left the property because they had everything we needed there. When we did leave we appreciated the nearby bike rentals, wood fired pizza and souvenir shop across the street. Troncones was very quiet and felt safe which is important since there are not locks on the rooms. We had some interactions with critters as expected since the rooms are open to the outside. Breakfast was our favorite meal of the day, chilequiles and breakfast burrito were a huge hit but all of the food and drinks that we ordered tasted great. Fresh fruit smoothies by the pool every afternoon was one of my favorite parts of the day. We had 4 different yoga teachers during the week we were there which we felt was a good alternative to a traditional yoga retreat were you typically are committing to a single yoga teacher. We appreciated the different teaching styles and types of yoga that we were exposed to. I would absolutely recommend Present Moment to friends and return myself as soon as I am able. We regretted not bringing more pesos since the ATM in town only worked one time we tried it.

All bungalows are away from the noise. They do a superb job catering to all guests and though all bungalows are a 3min walk from the water i'm sure they'd be happy to place you in the best available duite.
Not at all. The resort will have a taxi come to pick her up and the resort itself is totally all inclusive. I did take a bus trip into town with my daughter the first time I went and felt perfectly safe.
There are more places to choose from in the Troncones area.
