To call this a resort is almost an insult - the most incredible place I have ever stayed!! The staff are all so friendly & personable we truly enjoyed getting to know them. The pineapple margaritas were the best I've ever had. Can not wait for our next adult trip. -we stayed in Luna Allegra & loved our room.
Our stay at Playa Escondida was absolutely magical! After a very long and challenging year, a trip to beautiful Sayulita, and especially to Playa Escondida, was a much needed haven. In every way our stay was superb. From the stellar service, to the breathtaking sunsets enjoyed from the infinity pool (mango margarita in-hand), and the incredibly array of fresh seafood, delicious culinary specialities and the creative cocktails - each day was more perfect than the last. You may never want to leave the resort, but if you choose to, the concierges, Grecia and Diana are fabulous! They coordinated a beautiful and memorable snorkeling trip to Marieta Islands, and the riding on the beach with Antonio was incredible. This was our second stay at Playa Escondida, and before we reluctantly departed, we made plans to visit again in January. Thank you to the entire team at Playa Escondida for helping us make memories that will last a lifetime! A side note - in this unprecedented time, I truly appreciated the attention to detail, cleanliness and safety at Playa Escondida, as well as in neighboring Sayulita. It can be an anxious time to travel, but I felt the safety protocols were in place and guidelines were respected.…
Pure joy from the welcome drink to check out. Best fish tacos, insane pineapple margaritas (according to my wife), ice cold Pacifico’s and the friendliest and most genuine and fun staff I’ve experienced in my travels. Everyone that works there seems to really enjoy what they do, making the vibe truly magical. Leave the kids at home and fall into the tranquility of this paradise. Can’t wait for our next trip!
:Playa Escondida is a hidden gem. Located south of Sayulita, on a small private beach, and with easy access to nearby beaches and the town itself, the hotel has a wide variety of rooms, each of which is unique and totally comfortable. Every member of the staff is unfailingly helpful and friendly, and the food is extraordinary. We tried something different every day and night, and never had a bad choice. The rooms--like little palapas--are tucked into the jungle and connected by stone pathways (though there are a number of rooms right on the beach). They are beautifully decorated, comfortable and have all the conveniences one expects of a modern hotel, yet embody the casual feel of Mexico. This is a place one could return to over and over, and never tire of it.
Playa Escondida is the most unique and beautiful resort I’ve been to. Private villas and rooms by the beach, each one unique in its own way. Spoil yourself with a getaway . Enjoy the delicious food in the restaurant. I can’t wait to go back.
We were looking for a way to totally disconnect in paradise and the Playa Escondida was perfect. The villas are incredible; we loved sleeping in the open ocean breezes listening to the surf and the staff took our experience over the top. Being that this was not an "all-inclusive" resort, they made it easy for us to eat and drink whenever we pleased by remembering us and our villa name. There was no need to haul around credit cards or sign receipts. The entire setting is quiet and uncrowded. The town of Sayulita was a quick golf cart ride through the jungle. We highly recommend!
We spent 4 days. Top marks for hospitality. Friendly staff who seem to enjoy what they are doing. They know when to leave you be. Quality and quantity of food and drink was perfect for me and I am snobbish when it comes to food. I’ll be telling anyone I know who wants a real break about this place. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully done up. With no distractions like radios and TVs (one in the lounge) this place is truly meant to disconnect.
This place was BEAUTIFUL! Overlooks the ocean and is just far away from the hustle and bustle but within walking distance to everything. The pool was so friggin beautiful!! The bar and restaurant is really good and the staff was very nice. The only bad thing: the beds are like sleeping on cement. I would hurt too bad if I stayed longer than 2 nights.
We stayed for 5 nights in Playa Escondida and had an amazing time. The cabins/rooms are great and offer real privacy, the setting is as the pictures show, the food was super tasty and the staff were amazing. we truly loved it here; it is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Sayulita, but easy to get to the town when we wanted. The cabins are all in different settings, and we were higher up on the mountain in the jungle. While we had no ocean view (and we knew that upfront), we looked out over the jungle canopy and really loved that. our cabin was a two story with a nice bedroom up top and a living room/kitchen below - a really fun set up. Being up on the mountain also meant we got a golf cart to go around the resort and to Sayulita. The resort is, and fells, really small in its set up. There were less than 30 guests when we were there, which must be pretty close to capacity, and that made it so much nicer than all these big all inclusive places up and down the coast. We paddleboarded, enjoyed the beach, and did hikes and excursions from there. There were some super fun hikes that we took through the jungle, but I'd recommend to go to a site like All Trails to find what you are looking for, the staff at the resort didn't know too much about local hikes. One more convenience that we really appreciated was the National car rental office in Sayulita, who rents out cars on an all in basis. Anyone who has gone through the pain of car rental and personal liability insurance in Mexico will be surprised by how easy it was to get a vehicle and explore the surroundings. We particularly liked the Lo de Perla Jungle garden, and the Altavista Petroglyph Complex. But back to Playa Escondida - it was a fantastic place, and we will return with our kids next time!…
This was our 4th time back to this special little gem and it did not disappoint! From the incredible location squeezed between the jungle and the magnificent pacific ocean, to the service that is some of the best anywhere, to the amazing food and the unique rooms that are a work of art, the entire experience was incredible. Again! We have stayed in resorts that where 3 times the cost that did not offer the sort of care and concern for making your stay perfect as the incredible people at Playa Escondida. This time we took our 14 year old son with us. He was concerned, as were we, that he would be board in this type of low key resort, but the staff made sure that he felt welcome and taken care of. He ate more during our stay then we have seen him eat ever. He loved the food and Juan, Joel and Alanzo made him feel like a part of their family and we are so grateful to them for their gracious care. The report has everything you need for a perfect day on the beach but the addition of being able to take golf carts to the festive and fun town of Sayulita, only 10 minutes away, was the perfect, low key outing if you care to have a change of scenery. After enjoying the hustle and bustle of the town with its great restaurants, surfing and unique stores for shopping, you will appreciate going back to your peaceful resort where you are spoiled and appreciated. We keep saying we are going try another resort but we keep going back. And we have yet to regret it. Until next time PE! We love you!…
