Villa Amor is an inspired collection of luxury oceanfront villas, each uniquely designed and individually decorated – a wondrous fusion of creativity and old world charm. Most villas boast stunning views of the ocean and coastline, lush jungle hillsides, and the surfing / fishing village down the road. You will never want to leave – but if you do it’s only a few steps to gold-sand beaches and a flat 10-minute walk to town.

I give villa amor 4 out of five stars. This property is unique and special, it’s beautifully landscaped and each villa is different with its own feel. We are in Villa Flores - one of the 2bed 2bath villas with a private pool. It’s at the top of the property, one of the highest villas. My husband counted 140 something stairs. The other 2B/2Ba villa w a pool is La Paz, which even at 101 stairs only seems about halfway up compared to this. The stairs are all different heights etc. If you are coming with kids and you want this private pool I’d recommend Flores at the top of the hill because you can rent a golf cart from the hotel and drive it up the back way. Flores has its own courtyard w parking for the cart. It’s $50USD per day for the cart. If you’re coming w kids you’ll end up w a cart anyways because the walk to town, while fine for adults, is long enough that it will wipe your kids out easily. The sun is punishing and the combination of heat and distance will overcome even the most mild tempered kid after a few outings. So we have been quite happy here at the top of the hill w the golf cart. Our son is 4, and we are loving the pool. It is shallow and while it’s hot heated, it doesn’t need to be. The sun is warm enough and the pool shallow enough that it’s an inviting temperature all day long (august). The kitchen amenities are clutch for us with a kid. Leftovers = happy family any time. There is plenty of space in the living room for board games and puzzles etc. Fans keep it pleasant even in the heat of day. So why the 4 stars? Two big dings for me — the bed and the shower. For a property asking over $300/nt in the low season and $600/nt in the high season, I expect better. The mattress on the bed in the master in Villa Flores is uncomfortable. I do like beds more on the softer side, and this one is firm, but that’s not my main problem. My main issue is that it feels like a twenty year old spring mattress. Whether or not that’s what it is, I don’t know, but it feels like that. When one person turns, it’s an earthquake. Just uncomfortable. The shower - okay the shower itself physically is fine and the shower head is great and water pressure is awesome but the water never gets hot. There’s freezing cold and room temperature. That’s okay if you’re an adult and can handle a cool shower but just try getting a kid in there. Yeah right. And sometimes you just want a hot shower. Again, at this price point I expect better in that regard. Overall, we have had a very relaxing and lovely stay. I would definitely consider coming again.

We stayed at (2) Villas at Villa Amor. For 4 nights we stayed at “The Oceana” which has great views and everything you would need to consider it home away from home. This Villa is not an open to the environment type, but can be with 4 large operable double doors. The Living room/kitchen/eating area is near perfect. The AIr Conditioner in each bedroom works well. We would definitely stay in this Villa again. The staff at the front desk, housekeeping and maintenance are wonderful, kind and quick to respond.

Our time spent at Villa Amor was both relaxing and memorable. We stayed in the Villa Paz unit. This villa is very spacious with indoor bedrooms on either side and open living/kitchen/dining space in the middle. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Some of our favorite thing s about this property include the wonderful staff, the cleanliness of the property and the more quiet location vs downtown. We were traveling with two small children and the staff constantly helped with any requests we had. They even arranged a doctor to come to use when our little one hit her head. The cleaning staff came everyday along with the pool cleaner it was spotless. Maintenance also was quick to respond. We had an ongoing fridge issue which was frustrating but the management tried and tried again to fix it. Finally they did and even reimbursed us for spoiled food. The main pool was also lovely. Close to Playa Los Muertos which is WAY better than the main beach. They even arranged our golf cart rental. The restaurant below is tasty and has great water views. Perfect for food and drink when you don’t want to cook or venture to town. Negatives; some of these are generalities for Sayulita and not specifically about the property. There are lots of stairs to this unit. Either you can deal with it or you can’t. There are other units lower that may suit you better. We found it to be good exercise. There is loud music from downtown a couple nights a week. This is one of those things you will hear anywhere in Sayulita. We were just happy not to be downtown. This unit is not the best for small kids. While the pool was shallow enough that we felt comfortable, the railings were a little to open for our liking. Also, being that the bedrooms are connected only by outdoor space, it worried us when the kids would wake up in the middle of the night and come looking for us. There are wild raccoon type animals in this area. Keep your food locked up or they will give you a fright. The bugs minimized or use of the outdoor space. Again, bugs, heat, raccoons are noise are all Sayulita problems - not Villa Amor. Staff even offered us bug spray to help. Some things we would love to see improved at Villa Amor: proper stand up paddle boards. The ones they have are more like long boards and very hard to use. Also, a shuttle to town would be amazing! The water pressure in the showers in this unit was nonexistent. It literally was like being peed on. Water is scarce but this could be improved. Overall we had a wonderful time in Sayulita and at Villa Amor. Remember - this is not a 5 star St Regis on some cookie cutter beach. It’s a very unique and special property in a very unique location. Therefore, the property comes with its quirks. If you visit with this in mind, you will absolutely love it.

Dear pkashinsky: We would like to thank you for the time you took to write such a well thought-out review for Villa Amor. You could see and appreciate our unique place in Sayulita. We agree that our staff is the best in town and know that they will always make sure guests' needs are met. We will share your kind words with them. Yes, you also could see that Villa Amor is located on a jungle hillside with all the accompanying issues like" tejones" that like to sneak any food that might be left out and summer-time insects. Your observations can help future guests. For those who do not wish to navigate many stairs, we also have villas close to ground level. All villas have the marvelous view of the bay and the village. We also recommend requesting child friendly decks as each villa is unique with its own features. Sayulita is also unique as a village with an active night life (music) and lots of activity. Water for Villa Amor and the whole village can be up and down. We have asked our maintenance team to see what kind of water pressure improvement can be made for Villa La Paz. We will take your suggestion for paddle board improvement to management. Thank you, too, for this idea. Thank you for loving our "quirks". We do too.

Our villa was large and gorgeous. The view was breathtaking. My only complaint about the room would be there's nowhere for women to put their makeup on and get ready. There should be a makeup table or place with good lighting and an outlet. The restaurant/bar were excellent. Eduardo and Ricardo(?) Were amazing at the front desk.

Dear DJBEnnis: We wish to thank you for your candid comments on the quality of the free WIFI at Villa Amor. We do alert our guests, both on our internet site and upon registration, that WIFI is available but not always guaranteed inside the villas. The two WIFI providers in Sayulita are able to provide the best service available in the town and surrounding areas. The available high speed requirements work for most guests' needs and perhaps will not meet individual requirements. Thank you also, for your kind words for our staff. We know they did everything they could to help you troubleshoot the problem.
