Very loud party music on most nights until 1-2 am coming from the town below. The pool area was loud in the day-time. Our transportation ( arranged by Haramara) back to PVR Airport was dangerous. Not what I had expected from a retreat. Food was excellent as well as service at the resort. Clean and well-kept grounds. Nice yoga shalas. I enjoyed the salt water infinity pool and watching whales from the property.

Haramara is a special gem. I attended a week long yoga retreat in Feb 2023 and had an astonishing experience. The ability to fully unplug while staying in exquisite accommodations is a rarity. Food, staff, locations, body work and rooms -all stellar.

I have been to Harmara 3 times now -- there's just nothing like it. The property is beautifully, lovingly maintained. The is a large open air dining room looking over the jungle and out to the ocean, infinity pool and luxe lounge area perfect for beating the midday heat, and a path right down to the ocean, where you can lounge on the sane or on beachfront lounge chairs. At lower tides you can go on long walks along the beautiful stretch of beach, and the water here is clean - not like the Sayulita beach. That said, it can get really rough -- there can be a seriously powerful rip tide and some very aggressive waves. It seems to vary a lot day to day. The rooms are open air, don't have electric lighting (kerosene lamps are provided for night time), and the beds have mosquito nets, which would make you think this is a cheaper establishment -- but that's just not the case. Everything is natural, yes, AND incredibly luxurious -- the beds and linens are so comfortable, great water pressure in the showers, fresh floral arrangements in the room every day, the rooms are cleaned and polished thoroughly each day -- everything is just beautiful. I feel like royalty staying here, so much effort is put in to making this a beautiful stay. And if you practice yoga, the shalas (practice spaces) are just beautiful. One open on all sides with a sunrise view over the jungle, the other with a bit more protected, but view out to the ocean. Plenty of props in both to support your practice. And then the food -- you will be so well fed here. The staff are great, attentive and looking to welcome everyone and make it a great stay. I am so grateful that this place exists. I hope you give it a try!

I took my teenage daughter on a personal retreat at Haramara. We slept to the sound of pounding surf in our gorgeous cabana Obsidian in the jungle complete with hammock and outdoor shower. We woke to a fabulous breakfast, followed by yoga with beautiful views and massages at the tranquil spa. We spent time at the wild and beautiful beach sitting under the shaded awnings. It was a bit rough to swim but you could go around the corner to the next beach which was calmer. My daughter also went on a group hike and rode a horse through sayulita and galloped along the beach. The Infinity pool was a stunning place to hang out and chat with other guests. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. After 4 fabulous nights we felt relaxed and refreshed. There was as much or as little to do as you liked. It was challenging going up and down the steep hill but you were rewarded for you effort. I hope to return again soon.

Originally booked for March 2020 on the recommendation of my yoga teacher and finally got to take my trip in December 2021. The wait was absolutely worth it. All buildings are open-air, which means you go to sleep to the ocean and jungle noises and wake up to the sun and birds. It took a few days to come down from the electronics and city buzz, but by day 4 of circadian living I was a noodle (in the best way). Food was great - the juices and ceviche available at the pool bar are top-notch. Jim's Shiatsu massage was easily the best one I've ever had (and I've had a lot). The yoga shalas are spectacularly situated, well-stocked, and clean. There weren't any active retreats the week I went, which meant the place was a bit emptier than usual - but fellow guests were friendly and relaxed and the staff was attentive and lovely. They even coordinated on-premise COVID testing ahead of flying back to the US - expensive, but worth it to avoid the hassle. A couple recos: Definitely bring sneakers and socks for the hike up to and down from the main buildings - it's doable in birkenstocks but much nicer than constantly rinsing your feet off. The casitas are beautiful, private, and well-situated. It's not the most luxe sleeping situation I've ever had in my life, so if you're finicky, bring earplugs and whatever other aids you need. Also, Sayulita is very cute with lots to offer (and a 20-minute walk away) but not sure I'd recommend going mid-stay if you're really looking to unplug.

I heard about this place through my yoga class. This place is paradise, I came back feeling completely rejuvenated!! Everything in Haramara it's absolutely perfection. The attention to all the details that the owner invest is amazing, from the free smiles we get from the staff, the gourmet food and the amazing accommodations, this is the most perfect place to be for mediation and discovering oneself. The weather was perfect. The shalas and the casitas brought a sense of tranquility. Don't forget to get a massage the best I've gotten thus far. Also, if you have an opportunity, do a sweat lodge OMG! do it. I will be going back with my yogis next year! Namaste all. :)

It’s hard to describe Haramara. The beauty. The serenity. The smiles. It was beyond perfect after the year we have all had. We were a group of 15 gathering from all across the U.S. From the first greeting I had to the last goodbye- it was perfection. The weather was a 10 which never hurts. But beyond that- the shalas brought a sense of peace. The beach. The cabanas. The massage (get one!). And the staff. Such hard workers who smile and who make you smile. Yes Armando!! My favorite in the dining room. Always happy and wanting to help. Do yourself a favor. Whether with others or as a personal retreat- Haramara will change you. I can’t wait to go back.

I booked my stay early this year before the quarantines, and was so thrilled to realize that everything at Haramara is open air, so it is the ideal place to be. I coul do yoga outdoors at their gorgeous yoga shalas, and then relax at the beach or by the pool. I have never stayed at a resort or retreat where everyone, from the cleaning and landscaping staff to the chefs and waiters, paid such exquisite attention to detail and just generally went the extra mile at all times. As a vegan, I am accustomed to traveling where I 'make do' and rarely eat well; the food was consistently absolutely sublime, truly on par with the best high-end vegan restaurants in the Bay Area. (My partner is an omnivore, and was also thrilled with every meal.) The variety of birds, butterflies, etc was awesome--I could have lounged in my casita hammock all day and been totally entertained. But most of all, I was touched by the deep kindness and thoughtful care of the staff. This is a very special place.

Haramara is simply amazing. It was exactly the relief I needed after months of being cooped up in my city apartment -- nature, fresh air, and incredible food. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and they create a space that allows you to set down some stress during a chaotic time. Worth every mosquito bite.
