Looking at the reviews posted so far you would think this place stinks but how wrong can these people be! Ok yes, if you are expecting 5 star luxury for bargain basement prices then you will be disappointed but for us this was without a shadow of a doubt the best value and best service place we stayed in for...

Make yourself a favor and avoid this motel. It is old, broken and quite disgusting. I did not close my eyes the whole night. The breakfast is a joke. My son called it a haunted house the moment he saw it. Take the truth from the kids.

There is a wonderful old building called the "Grand Hotel" in Hellesylt. It may have been once, now it is used for breakfast, front desk and T.V. The rooms are a line of interconnected motel like compartments. There has been some effort to "modernize" them, but be prepared for very basic accommodations. The view out the back of most rooms...

After reading some of the reviews here on Tripadvisor I was a bit sceptical before our arrival at Hellesylt Grand Hotel and Motel. However, the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the bathroom simple but clean, the staff very friendly (although not Norwegian- speaking) and the breakfast was sufficient. We were told by the management the hotel was about to be refurbished. This was their reason given for shoddy accommodation e.g. broken door. There were breakfasts served - not very good but dinner was only available for pre booked bus tours. As there is very little alternative eateries in Hellesylt this was not positive.
