This hotel is an excellent location to ski tour in Jotenheim National Park. Very friendly staff and atmosphere with good simple food. Two bed room was small but well designed and with drying room available there's no problem managing your kit. Hotel is very good value for Norway. My first visit to this area with five ski club friends so...

We stayed one night. Stayed in a double room. The room was very small. The two of us had to squeeze through the narrow space beside the bunk bed to settle our backpack stuff. Only one male toilet and one female toilet for about 10 rooms. The luxuriously looking and descent restaurant (dinner and breakfast) and the sitting area with...

We put up our tent here for 2 nights and it was more than ok. Helpfull staff, good food in the cafetaria and delicious breakfast. The hut has a sauna and and a pool! Still a bit pricy and very crowdy. Not a always as relaxig due to the many warning signs in the walls.

the woman on reception was extremely rude and bullying. there was no atmosphere at all and the general camaraderie found in mountain huts all over the globe was non existant. on the plus side it is in a great location

Good starting point for hikes to both Galdhopiggen and Glittertind - the 2 largest mountains in Norway. Plenty of things to do, the lodge is not very luxurious but meant as a mountain resort to experience both glaciers (nearby it is one with tunnels..) and excellent hikes.

Clean and comfortable and good for a single nights stay, though make sure you bring your own ready to eat food as there's no kitchen facilities available and they only serve their grossly overpriced food for a few hours a day. On the plus side the staff were really helpful and the main building was really comfortable and a cool...

I stayed here for 2 nights with a colleague from work (while on business trip to Oslo) in order to climb Galdhopiggen. I am used to using the mountain huts in France and Switzerland, but this is much more like a proper hotel! The dinner and breakfast were excellent quality and plentiful. A few points to those of you who...

I have been alot of places im my life but never experienced worse customer service. The people working here was rude the minute I parked my car. And then when I walked in to the reception, the employee was aggressive and rude, when I wanted to ask some questions. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Was staying there for almost week with my tent. Price was funny when comparing each and every place i visited alongside my one month trip through Norway/Finland/Sweden - it was 70NOK per night - in that price i could use nice showers, toilets, dry-room and kitchen-room. At night sheep walking alongside tents - makes nice atmosphere :D At the evening...

We were celebrating 50 year of marriage. Our three sons with their families joined us. Our group included eight children age 8 to 16 and eight adults. Spiterstulen has a very nice location in the heart of Jotunheimen. We had two excellent guides who made the tour to the glacier a great experience. We were all in good shape so...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated at 1,100 meters above sea level Spiterstulen at the treeline in the warm and lush Visdalen. Here you will find a rich flora, babbling brooks, overgrown pits and legendary mountain farm sites that are ideal for fine short trips. Saeter ridges is a playground for the children. Spiterstulen was originally a summer farming hamlet to the family farm Sulheim which was extended for guests the first time in 1836. Through six generations, the place has since been expanded and modernized. But the old characteristics have been preserved - with several small and large houses in one yard. Our guest rooms range from smastuer and family units with bathrooms to youth departments with bunk beds and communal laundry room. We offer a total of 200 beds. In addition, we own campsite with sanitary facilities close up. The season lasts from Spiterstulen at about 1 March to about 1 May and from about 20 May to about 15 October. ... more   less
