Hello Again, This time we are backpacking around the Jotunheimen region of Norway. What a spectacular area. Our sixth day brings us to a planned overnight at Memurubu Lodge. We have stayed in five lodges along the way, making Memurubu the sixth. This lodge is unique in several ways. First, it is privately owned, and by the same family that... More

It was very nice to end our trek on the Besseggen ridge at Memurubu cabin. Staff was friendly, room, baths and WC were clean, and the whole athmosphere was nice and cozy. The dinner was basic, tasty and filling. We appriciated the chef a lot for making great vegetarians meal for 2 of us! Another advantage is the Cafe- can... More

This rather simple lodge is beautifully set by the Gjende glacier lake and the Jotunheimen mountains, remote from civilization and only accessible via a hike or a boat ride. The view from our window was fantastic. The basic furnishings are to be expected in a "turisthytte" but the price (3600 NOK for a four-person room, including dinner/breakfast) was unexpectedly steep... More

This lodge is located at the end of the hike over the famous Besseggen Ridge, arguably the most popular hike in Norway, and can also be reached by boat. So it is a bit crowded and there is a sense they know they don't have to work hard - it lacks the charm and soul of some more isolated lodges.... More

I loved this place! After doing the 7 hour Besseggen hike from Gjendesheim to Memurubu (a great, less crowded way to do it) this was exactly what I needed. The location is beautiful, the girl at reception was super helpful, and we had a room in the newer building that had a bunk bed with a full bed on the... More

If you want to go Bessegen it is recomnded to divide the trip into to. First take the boat from Gjendesheim to Memurubu, than overnight in the Turist guest house and go Bessegen on the other day. Me and my girlfirend did it this way and it was great. Beautifull views all around, helpfull staff and not very high prices.

We stayed one night at Memurubu with 16 children from 6th class (10-11 year olds). The staff served the children well. The rooms are large, clean and give, together with great food, the best possible start for a long trip the next day. Recommended!

The magnificence of the Bessegen hike stood in stark contrast with the extreme mediocrity of this poorly-run facility. When there are no other options, no other places competing for lodgings in this particular area, I guess there isn´t much incentive for these folks to improve upon anything...Kudos to the lovely young Swedish woman who was the one bright light in... During our tripp throug Jotunheimen we happened at stay two nights there. We chosed to camp so I can not write anything about the rooms. But apart from that, I will say some other things. The personal is quite unfriendly and that in a country where I just happened to meet friendly people. We were not explained anything, where the... More
