A friend and I met here for a "catch-up" after 28 years living long distance from each other. We're thrilled we picked The Elms and hope to return again this year yet. The room was clean and comfortable. I love the old world vibe the hotel has going on. I'm so tired to modern, white spaces...this place has some real personality! We went on the paranormal tour with Jay and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even the in-room coffee was the best -- from a local KC roaster and was a tasty way to start the day. To address the reviews that mentioned the hotel was not as clean as it could have been...I was troubled by those so I phoned the hotel before arriving and asked if those concerns were being addressed. Lindsey, at the front desk, talked to me and told me that the hotel is aware that many of the rooms have stained carpets. People spill wine or coffee on the carpet and then don't ask for housekeeping so, of course, it leaves stains. BUT, she assured me that the carpets have been professionally cleaned and are vacuumed well every day. So, while they are stained, they're also clean. I found this to be true. The carpets are scheduled to be changed this fall and I'm guessing they're not being replaced with the same light carpet. Also, let me assure any Group-on customers that no one treats you any differently than full price customers. No one but the front desk staff would know and they were all polite. I wholeheartedly recommend The Elms!

This was our 3rd or 4th time there. We always get the one bedroom king suite, which is a good value. Enjoy the outdoor pool, which was staffed by someone who took drink and food orders. Love the quiet, out-of-the-way location. Didn't use the dining facilities this time -- we love the BBQ joint just down a block, and a small downtown cafe for breakfast. It's time the hotel invested in a deep cleaning or carpet replacement. And the AC, while working properly, is very noisy when it kicks on and off. The large outdoor pool and colorful grounds are our favorite features.

Brought the entire family for a little summer vacation. Such a lovely property and helpful staff. Accommodations lovely, a little wear and tear shows, but this historic property is worth the trip. We hope to come in winter! Thank you Elms staff!

The place felt run-down with many corners cut--with the cleanliness of the room, the lack of updates to things like A/C, the bad food at the restaurant and lack of preparation at the spa (and the lack of Grotto amenities). It wasn't nearly as romantic or nice as I had thought it would be. Just disappointed, though I perhaps should have expected less.

We had a great experience for a girls weekend. Great poop and workout area. Spa was amazing and even better than we were expecting. Besides an issue of our room being overbooked we had a great experience.
