The staff is clearly trained to serve well. During my four night stay I didn't interact with a single employee that wasn't friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable bed. Beautiful bathroom. Room service was great. The hotel is beautiful. Even had a smart tv that I could log into my own netflix account.

Let me start by saying I had no problems at the Ritz Carlton - St. Louis. There was a lively, lovely band that played in the lobby over the weekend my family visited. That was a true joy, as my 6 year old son thoroughly enjoyed this. The staff was kind, and professional. The hotel lacked, in my opinion, particularly for the price point and the level of marketing this chain has promoted to be the quintessential be-all of luxury. There were very few 'wow' amenities in the room. No large bath tub. Some cases, no bath tub at all, and when there was a tub, it was the shower/tub combo that most of the other lower chains offer. I've realized, after staying here, that 'luxury' isn't general. And too pay $500 a night (generally), for a standard room, to say you're at the Ritz, is not my idea of money well spent. To each their own.

Our family stayed at this hotel, and our room was so warm we couldn’t sleep, woke up sweating, and were generally uncomfortable in the room. It was July in St. Louis, but it was not that hot outside. We called up engineers to check out the air unit, and each said it is working "up to specifications" - meaning it was pumping out cool air. But we were still sweating in the room. I talked to the manager in charge, and he was very polite - obviously trained in dealing with complaints from customers - but he refused to acknowledge something is wrong with the room. Finally, a nice engineer agreed with us - it is hot in the room. Management wouldn't acknowledge the issue, which made me nuts. All they had to do was say, "yep, I see what you mean, and let's address it." Instead, it felt like they were more concerned with me asking for some points back, or for something for "my troubles." We finally ran the air in another room all night, and that air unit put out enough volume of air to cool the room. It wasn't the best, but it worked in the new room. Stay away in the summer, the air conditioning units are just not good enough to cope with the hot and humid St. Louis weather.

I was surprised to find such a throwback in the middle of a relatively modern Clayton. The lobby hails from the first half of 20th century, with low ceilings, dark wood paneling throughout, and girthy dark leather furniture. But the rooms are up-to-date, spacious, and well-maintained. I will gladly come back to this hotel when I'm in the area

By far the best hotel in Clayton. Outstanding service, consistent quality. Truly a wonderful place to stay. The lobby bar/restaurant is relaxing and the service warm and helpful. Gym is new and outstanding.
