Sunburst Ranch is a top-notch outfitter. We chose the 1/2 day float to the “Landing.” It was a nice mix of white water fun and easy-going current. Overcast days can be the best for photos. This float allows a visit to Althea Spring, and the owners are super friendly and helpful.
we did a very last minute float trip yesterday while visiting parents in the area. SUNBURST was recommended by an old high school friend. I have floated this river many times in the past and Sunburst is now my favorite outfitter on the North Fork. They had our 3 canoes and 2 kayaks riverside, ready to go at our arrival. Let us know about current conditions and spots to stop, swim and explore. exceptional customer hospitality. Nice camping area (big shade trees gone from flooding), nice shower and bathroom facilities. Small store in case you forget anything and comparable pricing. Also they only rent higher quality fiberglass canoes and the kayaks are nice little sporty Jackson models. Plus it's just an awesome river to float and they have 2 great options. Will definitely visit them again on our next MO trip.…
We love sunburst Ranch! We go every year as a family. We rent a van & all ride down together. We’ve been doing this for many years. I think this was like our 6th year. We usually stay at the Lodge which we love but I thought we’d give memories made a try. I thought it was more near the water. When I called and asked about being able to get to the water to swim, we were told that we could. You can’t!! We like the Lodge because there’s a trail to get to the water & swim. We loved that about Sunburst. We thought that this was a new cabin since it states that it’s the newest addition to Sunburst and we thought that being said that it was near all of the other cabins, it’s totally separated and you have neighbors. It’s across from the graveyard in that area if you know where that’s located. We were really disappointed that we were away from all of the SBR surrounding because we really enjoy being a part of it when we are there. The cabin itself needs some updates. The recliner was broken, the beds were so hard that everyone complained of a backache and slept terribly. The furniture In general is uncomfortable. We had problems with the refrigerators getting cool. All of the beer was warm until the next day. Other than all of that the cabin is super cute and decorated cute. We love, love, love Sunburst and always have. I’m not knocking Sunburst what so ever just wish we would have had more of a general idea of the cabin. The plan that this was our last trip to SBR due to my parents illnesses and wanted this year to be super special. The river was up and SBR did a great job helping with the raft when we had to take it out of the water to put over the bridge. I hope that we get the chance to go back again & enjoy the Lodge & river again. Good memories at Sunburst! …
I went floating the first time on the North Fork of the White River. The owners were very instrumental in helping with this float. They kept me informed on the status of the river. I was also clued in on what type of flies to use for fly fishing. Brian, shuttled me to my put in slot. He gave a very thorough review of the river. It was obvious that he and is his wife care about the health of the river. I floated back to their campground. Brian was kind enough to pack my gear up their ramp. He also help load my canoe on my car. The Beatty’s, owners of the Sunburst Ranch are good folk who take excellent care of their floaters and campers. Highly recommend floating a beautiful river with them.
Great place, will go there again. Clean showers, nice people. Went there twice this July. 1st time put in at North Fork Rec area, canoed back to Starburst. 2nd time took the kids and went from Starburst to their landing past the James bridge.
