We had the Clark Gable room. Outside looks a little run down but room was exceptionally clean and loved the decor. Great to have a radio playing old tunes. Was worried the bed would be too small and uncomfortable but we had a cosy nights sleep. The neon light bothered me at first (need complete blackness to sleep) so hung... More

First of all, I want to thank both Debbies for their guidance and information about Carthage. Although I had driven to the nearby Civil War battlefield 20 years ago, I didn't know the vast and rich history or realize it was on old US 66. I was given the Clark Gable room and that's not just a title, there is... More

While driving Route 66 Chicago - LA we were fortunate enough stay at The Boots Motel - an absolute must for any serious 66er. The owners are lovingly offering the charm and comfort of yesteryear and deserve a huge word of thank you from travelers. Make sure to spend some time on the street out front after dark. It is... We stopped by here to take few photos and bumped into Ron - he's actually living my dream by renovating this fantastic place! We couldn't stay as we'd many more miles to do that day but we'll definitely be back. Ron s hi owed us around and the rooms are truly fantastic and genuine. Loved it!

All of our staff members love to show people around the Boots and share with them that special pride one gets from a job well done. Ron is our restoration craftsman and has been with us since the beginning. He is very knowledgeable about Route 66 in southwest Missouri as well as about the Boots. We look forward to the... More

My husband, cousin and I were making a midwest tour over the Labor Day weekend. My husband chose this motel because it was vintage Route 66 lodging. There are only 5 rooms available so if you want to stay here, make a reservation. We had rooms 10 and 11, as they are adjoining rooms. There is no tv in the... More

Thank you for your sincere and charming response. We try hard to treat each guest the way we would want to be treated. Debbie Dee is probably the most amazing concierge on all of Route 66. She really cares about each and every one of our guests and is always willing to go the extra mile-and-a-half. More

Fun, quiet little 40's motel with super fun nostalgic rooms. Radio in every room... Ours had one from many years ago that still works well! We stayed in room 6 where Clark Gable stayed, so a bit of fun to look up all the movies he was in. Walking distance to the downtown square... Great shops! Excellent greeting with Debbie,... More

Take a step back into the 1940s. This place is amazing beautiful charming and very kitschy. Too much fun. Don't miss the opportunity to experience travel as it was 75 years ago. One complaint was uncomfortable beds but that's probably the way they were in 1946

We are so sorry you found the bed uncomfortable. We wish you had let us know, we might have been able to find a harder / softer bed in a different room. It makes us very sad when we discover that a guest was not completely happy. We assure you that ALL of our beds are new, not 1940s vintage.... More

We search out unique lodgings run by local people who care. By that standard, Boots Court can't be beat. From the outside it looks like a vestige of Route 66 glory days that somehow miraculously survived. Step into the small office, with the Zenith console TV with porthole-shaped screen and 1930's-style table phone and you realize you've entered a world... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Boots Motel is an iconic historic motel on Route 66, at the junction of historic U.S. Route 66 and U.S. Route 71. It features two buildings, one built in 1939 and one in 1946, in the Streamlined Moderne style. Neglected for years, it is currently being restored to its 1949 appearance. Five rooms in the 1946 building are now completed and ready for occupancy. They feature spacious rooms with the original hardwood floors and built-in vanity dressing tables, and ceramic tile bathrooms with shower stalls They are individually decorated and furnished with period furnishings such as chenille bedspreads and 1940s-style furniture. Some still have the original round mirrors installed over the dressing tables. There are no televisions since television was not available in the Carthage area until the mid-1950s, but, as originally advertised, there is "a radio in every room," and the motel does offer free WiFi. Each room is individually heated and air conditioned, just as advertised in the 1940s. Experience a time when room service delivered your ice to your room and your room key was a real key that fit into an actual lock! We also have 5 double-carports to protect guest's vehicles from weather. Welcome back to the 1940s at the Boots Court! ... more   less
