Fantastic lunch ! Had goats cheese and beetroot to start - small but tasty and sufficient. Roast beef to follow ! Wow! Mash, roasted carrots, roast pots, stupendous Yorkshire and fabulous roasts- with cauliflower cheese and a bowl of mixed veg. Lots of gravy and beef. Very good. Here on a week's break in the village. Our dogs first ever... More

This pub was recommended to us for dinner and seemed popular with other diners. However, my belly pork was so badly cooked (rubbery inedible skin, a lot of fat and very little meat, not cooked slowly as belly pork should be) that I got my money back on this. My wife had two courses, starter and main, and both contained... More

On our last evening we were taken by Linny (our host at the Redfoot Lea B & B in Alnwick) to her family owned Pub. A lively pub (even on a Wednesday evening), we were shown to our table in the conservatory. A great menu making it difficult to choose, however my wife and I eventually made our choices, the... A very warm and friendly welcome! Timothy Taylor and Black Sheep real ales superbly kept! Delicious lunches! Smoked salmon fish cakes highly recommended! It is well worth the 5 min detour from the A1. Likely to become a frequent visitor!!!!

As other reviews make clear, the food is sourced locally, and the menu explains where the beef, lamb and veg come from. The menu is varied - lamb and apricot tagine, beef bourguignon, sea bass with shrimp and saffron sauce, and much more. Everything is just absolutely delicious, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. Desserts were as good... More

A lovely local pub serving a fabulous menu with produce all sourced locally from the village. The pulled pork from their own pigs was great. Good desserts too. I would definitely recommend this place.

Although relatively in the middle of nowhere and unlike local towns (Alnwick & Seahouses) nothing except the countryside tranquillity to draw you to the village The Pack Horse seemed exceptionally popular with locals and visitors. Whether you are enjoying a full dining experience or just after bar snack style meals you are equally warmly welcomed by I believe the owner... More

Wonderful hosts, beautifully finished rooms, very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us, and particularly me with regards to gluten free food needs as a coeliac. The breakfasts and dinners we had here were delicious and the owners are lovely and contribute to such a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for everything!

We have visited the Pack Horse for dinner 3 times during July/August and found the beer and food delicious, and the service great. A very friendly pub with a 'local' feel- and the ingredients are locally sourced.. Nice décor too.

Visited tonight with my husband and 5 year old daughter. Very warm welcome from the staff on arrival and lovely dining room areas. Menu choices are amazing and very difficult to choose! Will have to revisit to work my way through the menu! Overall we had a really lovely meal in a really lovely setting - and the creme brûlée... More
