I don't like writing negative reviews, however I really do feel that prospective customers should be aware of what this B&B is like. The first thing I noticed was tins of cat food and a large rock on the stairs! Then a pile of stuff on a chest of drawers and a box full of papers & files on the...

First off I want to say that it's friendly at The Countryman Inn and they serve a decent breakfast. However the rooms really could do with a re-vamp. The double bed needed a larger size duvet on it and , as it was a little chilly, we put on the blanket provided which really was the equivalent to something I...

My wife and I came across this fantastic pub by accident. We were lost, as it happens we stumbled into a brilliant, actual pub. You know when a pub just feels like a pub? Well this is one of those! The choice of ales were brilliant, and the bar staff, Sarah I think she was called, was just fantastic, it...

Was looking for a room for 3 nights only, and came across this little gem. Read up the reviews which some were a little negative saying the rooms were "dated" and "tired" but after a lot of thought we decided to book it and see for ourselves. Am so glad we did, we absolutely loved our stay here. The rooms...

We popped in for lunch, two adults, three kids and two dogs. The menu was wonderful, catering for meat eaters, vegetarians and a gluten free option for my daughter whom has a bowel disease. All the food was piping hot, very flavorsome and very generous portions. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We found it was not your typical...

What a fantastic time we had at The Countryman. We took our caravan and stayed for the whole three days. We were made very welcome by Paul and the staff. Brilliant selection of beers and ciders to suit all tastes. Great food both in the pub and outside for the festival. We will definitely be coming back.

We called in on Bank Holiday weekend for something to eat after a day at the beach. The fish and chip special was great, white fish and lovely homemade tartare sauce. Great value for money. The waitress and waiter very friendly and food service was quick. Toilets could do with being refurbished.

The bill is too Expansive for the tipe of rooms. There isn't comunication with the owners for the breakfast or for the rooms... There is the parking and the rooms are too small for three people. The bathroom arte new and the restaurant is good.

We came across this pub accidently but by crikey I'm glad we did! We wanted lunch and my husband and myself shared a baguette between us, Wow!! It came with salad and chips and was absolutely massive! Our daughter had one on her own and couldn't finish it but she had a good try! The food was fantastic, freshly cooked...

What a shame - we have had several meals at this dog friendly pub, but we went on Friday and although they were doing fish & chips at £6 we chose off the specials board and the ribs were too tough to eat. The staff were accommodating and did change it for something else but it was disappointing.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a large friendly pub just outside Launceston, on the road to the lovely coastal town of Bude. We have 5 cosy, en-suite letting rooms. 1 Single, 1 Twin, 2 Doubles and a Family room with a double bed and bunk beds (to sleep 4). We have a very large, free car park and a safely enclosed childrens park on our large playing field next to the pub/car park. We have plenty of outside seating either on the edge of the playing field and in the childrens park, or in our patio area leading out from our function room. We serve a delicious standard menu which varies slightly from day to day with our freshly made soups, fish cakes, curries and pies of the day. We also have a weekly specials board containing, when available, some very local meats but always something temptingly tasty. There is plenty to do nearby at the Otter Sanctuary or just a short car journey away in Launceston, Bude or many of the other nearby beautiful coastal towns and villages. We are also 15 minutes away from the A30 that will lead to to other larger attractions such as the eden project. ... more   less
