Not a 5 star except for the staff. About the best place to stay in Cleveland but expect non updated rooms. Good breakfast , decent rooms, but could be updated. Heard there are new owners so maybe that is coming.

The hotel is convenient to places to eat. There's a Walmart and Walgreen close. The staff were very nice, breakfast was nice. My issue is the condition of the furniture. I did not see one chair that did not have stains on it. In the...More
I stayed here for a few nights in February. The room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. A large group stayed in the hotel as well and checked out on Saturday. On Saturday all breakfast items were depleted and the...More

They refused my mom a room because she was black.

Comfort Inn Cleveland, Mississippi, civil rights violation September 5, 2015
My wife who is "white" entered the Comfort Inn, in Cleveland Ms. to get rooms for the night, we made phone reservations 15 mins prior to arriving, but my brother who is black did not and along with him is my niece and nephew with my 76 year old mom, after my wife enters to get our rooms and pays no problem, my brother who is a 44 year old Business man along with my niece who is a film producer in California. in others words, they were respectfully dressed African Americans not Thuggish, but simply "Black". when asking for rooms the girl said they were 'SOLD OUT" and nothing was available.
I sent my wife back for a refund and we went across the street and stayed at the holiday inn, with open arms and even better accommodations. so we check in and get our rooms and i call that hotel and asked if they had "3" rooms for that night and was told" sure" to come on in will have them waiting for us
so then next day before getting back on the road i stop by and this is what happen,.....(see Video)
This is a Direct violation of the 1964 civil rights act against my mom and everyone else in that car group.
This girl needs to be fired immediately, its says Jim Crow and "the Black Code" is alive and well in small town Mississippi! and if that's not bad enough to wake up in the morning and see displayed all over town Rebel flags that represents racism at its core i can not let this go and look the other way as so many did 65 years ago and expected nothing to happen of a murdered 14 year old black child.
the manager seemed nice and concerned but did not get it! as you can clearly see he does not take it seriously that 3 times in one day, the hotel clerk says he has had complaints against that very same girl from other "customers" that were also turned away with the same "we dont have any rooms left" excuse, is 3 times too many, and he has ample reason to fire her on the spot. there are no LABOR LAWS to prevent him from doing so, but it reflects badly on his ignorance of the law as well his readiness to just look the other way. meanwhile blacks are being refused public accommodations
some may think this is no big deal. its so easy to accept the small things and allow them to grow and fester into far bigger issues. this is the very reason the 2 men got off for killing a 14 year old kid, emmett till, 60 years ago .

I thank you so much for reaching out to me regarding this matter, i can't tell you how bitter the experience was for me to witness myself and see my family deal with the ugly violations of our civil Rights , and to learn that it was not only against me and my family but many others as they come thru there and just need a place to stay for the night as we had driven over 10 hours doing our travel and my 76 year old mom was apart of this group , she should not have had to deal with this having grew up with it herself living in Glendora Ms. doing the time that Emmett Till was murdered and the 2 men that were guilty got a way free and paid for their version of their story of killing a 14 year old child, this must have been horrifying to grow up in the same city and be aware that the guilty person lived just 4 miles from her home, this will explain my passion about how serious i take this complaint,
i do look forward to your reply as to what exactly will be done and how this will be prevented for the future so many people fought and died to earn these Rights of equality , its very important to me to see this is handled properly and with switch action against both the violating employee and also the manager who seem not to recognize the seriousness of this gross violation , i have a feeling he would have taken this more seriously had it been his Mother, so for that reason i see him as guilty as the violator and therefore giving permission to the problem rather then being proactive , but instead he was more concern about labor laws protecting himself but saw fit to ignore my Civil Rights Laws
