I must admit that when I first pulled up outside the Riverside for our 2 night stay I thought what had we let ourselves in for, because this isn't a regular hotel in a regular hotel location - it's actually much much more than that as Ill explain. We were greeted by the fabulous Zee who gave us all a... More

This is THE place to go to for southern hospitality, tons of history and local insight into whats going on in Clarksdale. Zee is a brilliant host and spending time with her on the front porch sharing stories while she recants the rich musical history of her hometown was a real memory maker. Great place, great ambience (though the actual... More

Well worth it for the history, the proximity to the blues venues in town, and the Delta Blues museum. It's also run by a great family who are extremely helpful and nice. Stayed last fall for the first time and will be staying again in August. Probably will stay again in the future as I usually stay in Clarksdale a... More

This historic site is a must see on the Blues Trail. Don't be put off by the "weathered" look of the exterior- it's what's inside that counts. You'll be welcomed with a hug by hostess "Zee" and maybe her mom, Joyce. Every room has a history- we chose NOT to stay in the room Bessie Smith died in... We chose... More

We stayed here because of the historic significance of the place. The owner was very friendly and gave us a lot of insight into the blues culture of the Delta. It was one of the highlights of our visit to the area.

pulled up to check it out, over an hour later left after a full tour by Rat. no rooms, but stayed at Sahck Up Inn with his approval. got the tour, and the history. can't beat that. not bad for pulling up and finding too old black guys resting on a glider with no pads. glad we took his invite,... If you like/love your Blues (and let’s face it, you probably are if you rocking up in Clarksdale) this place is a must. There is so much history here and Zee and her mother (the two most friendly hosts I've ever met - not often you get lovely big hello and goodbye hugs thrown into your hotel stay :)) are... More

People say Robert Johnson met the devil at the crossroads. Most folks say it was where Highway 61 and 49 crossed but it was where the Southern Pacific crossed the Yazoo Delta railroad tracks. That said, if you are any kind of blues historian, fan, musician, or whatever, you simply have to stay here. I had some of the best... More

The Riverside is a special hotel due to it's rich musical history. For anyone on a blues pilgrimage, this place will complete the journey. The hotel is now run by Rat's daughter Zee who is very welcoming and looks after the guests. The hotel is quite old now and (as mentioned in other reviews) and guests should not expect very... More

Unfortunately couldn't stay here (completely booked for the blues festival) but spent some time here and was given personal tours by the staff who gave me a history lesson. Saw the rooms and explanations on the history of each one. It is not a modern hotel so have no illusions but if you love the blues and want to stay... More
