I'll admit that I was initially taken aback by the rough condition of the hotel - intentionally or not, the hotel is in roughly the same condition it was when the blues greats from the middle of the last century stayed here. But once Zee, the gracious owner and her mother, great you with a warm hug and then a...

Only managed to stay for one night in Sam Cookes room. Zee is a fantastic host and makes you feel right at home . Also an ideal location to walk around central Clarkesdale, if you're planning to visit the Juke joints of Ground Zero or Reds.

Staying at the Riverside was the highlight of our trip exploring the blues trail in the Delta. Owner Zee greeted us with warm hugs and gave us a history of the hotel...from its use as a hospital for African-Americans (Bessie Smith died here) to her family's converting it to a hotel, frequented by many of the blues musicians passing through...

I am so glad we chose to stay with Zee in the Riverside Hotel. This place has so much history - it was amazing to stay a night there and hear all the stories. Zee is such a lovely hostess - she looked after us really well and made us feel right at home. I really highly recommend this wonderful,...

Provides all you need in a hotel plus all the history! It is a basic hotel as far as amenities, but provides so much more. If you need a 4-star hotel, then stay there but still stop by and visit Zee and learn something about Clarksdale. My wife and I were the only guests in the place when we stayed...

The place oozes character and very little imagination is required to sense its history. Zee was a great host, very helpful and always looking out for her guests. Sitting outside with her and her mum was a real highlight, and we'd recommend it in an instant.

The great blues diva Bessie Smith was brought here to die. This was once a coloureds-only hospital, but it is now a hotel. We had nice rooms, if you want a moderately-priced hotel in Clarkesdale I would recommend the Riverside Hotel. The staff are very friendly, and the proprietress loves hugs.

Impressive and amazing place, historical site, very charming host. Nice and clean, but very basic. Still, it worth to be visited, you will never find something like this. Recommended, it is lifetime experience

I stayed in Room 6 where legend John Lee Hooker used to stay. The whole place is steeped in blues history and Zee does an amazing job keeping the place as it was. She is a truly lovely lady and makes everyone feel so welcome. The Riverside Hotel is at the centre of blues culture and staying there was a...

The Riverside is a classic historical monument in Clarksdale. Many great blues legends have stayed and resided here. Zee keeps the place clean and makes you feel right at home. The Riverside is within easy walking distance to Red's Lounge, the best blues bar in town.
